Character History
--------------------------------------
Roka and Kira Bikiten were born on August tenth, 1988. They were joined at the shoulder (her left to his right) and, to the doctors utter bewilderment, a wing had sprouted from both of their backs upon leaving their mother's womb.
Roka's appeared on her right shoulder blade and Kira's on his left. In their appearance (and removal) much blood was lost and the babies were expected to die, especially with what was to happen next.
It was discovered before the operation took place (to separate the babies), that one of the two would lose an arm in the process.
Ultimately, the doctor, that is to say, their father, made the decision to take Kira's right arm, and perform minor surgery and repairs to Roka's shoulder.
So, the babies were separated, and their wings remove.
Their father decided to place a bio-mechanical gun arm to Kira. It would grow as he grew and become powerful.
But, as they finished, the monitors Kira was hooked up to began showing signs of lung defects.
The procedure for this would be difficult, as Kira was small, but it wa manageable.
Kira's lungs were then reconstructed (with the utmost cauciousness, of course). His breathing was slightly irregular, but not an unhealthy irregular. This irregularity, along with his new lungs, made him tire slower.
Work on Kira was finished.
All the while, Roka was found to have heart trouble.
having no heart to replace hers, the doctors altered her heart, connecting it (in a way) to her repaired shoulder.
A panle was placed on her shoulder that was connected to her heart by a series of small solar panels and tubes. Her heart was infused with bio mechanical material that made it stronger. But the panel on her arm must be exposed, lest her heart stop. To make it less noticeable, it was the same color as her skin.
Roka lived off of air (that's a given) and sunlight.
The babies grew up to be healthy, much to everyone's suprise.
As they grew, their parents, and Roka, noticed a certain hatred in Kira, but towards whom, or what?
When they were seven, Kira called Roka outside. She stepped out and Kira was nowhere to be found.
"Roka," she heard Kira behind her. Roka turned and followed the voice. Kira was on the roof. She stepped back from the house to get a beter look at him.
Kira lept down and landed before Roka. He looked, unblinkingly into her eyes for several moments. No words passed between them. The world seemed silent. But Kira broke this silence, saying,
"Good bye, sister."
Shocked and confused by Kira's choice of words, Roka could not defend herself from his sudden movement. His hand snapped to her neck, hitting a pressure point, and knocked her unconscious.
* * *
Roka woke up in an orphanage in the next town over, Angel Brooke.
The owner of the orphange told her that her hometown, Minoa, had been destroyed, but she had somehow survived.
"How..." Roka began to cry. Her parents were dead. And what about Kira? Was he alive?
The owned took Kira into her arms and held her close.
"A boy brought you here," she said. "But, we did not see his face, because it was dark. But..he was about your height."
Months after Roka's arrival, another city had been destroyed. But this city was miles from Angel Brooke, so the city wsn't too worried. But they were concerned.
* * *
Roka was wandering the halls and stumbled into the owners office and began going through the drawers. In one of these drawers she found a gun. However, she did not know what it was. She ejected the clip accidently and looks at it. What was in it? What was the thing in her other hand?
Roka pushed the clip bck into the bottom of the gun. She gripped the handle with both hands, the barrel pointing toward her. Placing her little thumbs on the trigger, she reminisced.
She had seen a movie a few years ago, where a man had one of these things she had in her hand now. He had pressed the button her thumbs were on....and the man the thing was pointed at fell asleep. She remembered how peaceful the man looked.
Roka knew what the thing was; a pain reliever. A peace maker. If she pressed the button, she'd go to sleep, and when she woke up, she'd forget about her parents and the pain that came with thinking about them.
Roka heard the door to the office open, and looked up. The owner ran to Roka and snatched the gun from her hands.
"No! You never, ever point these at yourself!" she scolded Roka.
"But...what is it?" Roka asked.
"It's a gun. It kills people," she explained.
"It...doesn't make people happy? It doesn't make them not hurt anymore?"
The owner was silent, her hand covered her mouth and her eyes watered slightly.
"No, Roka. It hurts people..."
Roka nodded and quietly left the office.
* * *
A year later, Roka stole the gun from the ofice and took it into the back yard and set up targets. She didn't know it at the time, but the owner (and several others) had been watching her. She nailed every target in the center or near it. A few weeks prior to this, a family had come to te orphange, looking for a guard and a child. Someone with some ability that would protect them from whatever was destroying the cities. Several had been destroyed in the past year, and no one could figure out who or what was doing it.
IN the back of her mind, the owner felt that this was wrong. But Roka needed a stable household and a loving family. Surely the war would end before it reached Angel Brooke.
Roka was adopted the next day by the Bikiten's. She was asked if she wanted to keep her original last name, and of course she said yes.
Her name was now Roka Selene Bikiten.
The Bikiten's (much to Roka's suprise) were rich. With a three story house with too many bedrooms and bathrooms, Roka was content. She ignored the reason she had been adopted. She now had 'loving' parents and a home she could call her own.
A week after adopting Roka, the Bikiten's presented her with two large, white pistols. The pistols, near the barrel and cylinder, were normal. But near the end, it seemed to have metallic feathers.
The guns were six-shooters called "The Angel Shot."
Roka never had to use these to hurt someone while she lived with the Bikiten's. She did,however, pratice with it everyday.
Roka grew curious about her origins and one day demanded that they take hr to her home tow, Minoa. This was done immediately.
Though Minoa was now a ruin, Roka just wanted to see what had become of it. What had destroyed it?
She found her way through the ruin to where her house used to be. Here, she found white angel feahers scattered about. A certain darkness resided here, amongst the scattered feathers. No, it was more like the darkness was on the feathers. The darkness didn't smell like she imagined it would. It smelled a little like her...just...different.
She remained quiet as she observed this and tears welled up in her eyes,
"No one ever told you who destroyed this place?" Mr. Bikiten had asked.
Roka shook her head.
"This was declared as 'an act of God', a natural disaster, angel," he said, going down to eye-level with her. He gathered her into his arms, wiping the tears away.
Roka pushed away.
"Don't...call me angel," she yelled. "If this is what they do, I don't want to share that name!"
She looked back at the feathers scattered on the ground. Little antenne began popping out of the ground. Roka wiped the tears from her eyes and looked back at the ground where she had seen the antenne. Nothing.
* * *
Months later it was rumored that the "natural disater" was heading toward Angel Brooke. Another city had been claimed. The world of Sepolevne' was in turmoil. What had they done to deserve this? They were slowly being destroyed, one city at a time.
People were evacuating, everyone but Roka. She wanted to see this being for herself.
her family had left without her. Well, Roka had chosen to stay behind.
Hours after the evacuation, Roka stepped out of her house, into the street. She saw, coming toward her, something with onw wing. Maybe this was the angel that had destroyed Minoa...
As it came closer, she recognized it. Kira.
"Sister!" he said, stopping before Roka. "I'm glad to see you well." Kira looked down and saw her pistols in her hands. "And...you were about to destroy this town? You finally saw how crule this place is?"
Roka backed away from Kira, pointing both of the guns at him. Her eys were streaming now.
"All of this time...it was you?"
She didn't even ask him about the wing on his back. That wasn't important. It had been her own brother that had killed their parents.
Kira smiled, lifting his right arm and flexing his wing. "Amazing, no? A mere child..and I have abolished several cities, killed thousands upon thousands..>" he loked into her eyes now. "Even our own city, as well as our parents. But, I'm sure you knew this."
Roka's grip on her guns tightened. She knew what was coing, what she had to do.
"Well...I suggest you get out of town. I would hate for you to get caught in this blast..."
Kira looked down the barrels of her guns, smirking.
"Are you honestly going to shoot me?"
Roka lowered one slowly. Could she do it?
Kira's right arm began glowing, as did his wing. If she didn't act now...
She looked at Kira one more time. Tears nearly blinded her, ut she was right next to him, shooting his arm wouldn't be a problem.
Aiming both pistol at Kira's right arm, she fired. His arm was filled with sveral holes, and energy (along with blood) began flowing out.
He looked, in shock at her. Holding his arm in pain, e kept it pointed toward the city.
"This will not prevent the destruction of this city..." she heard Kira say as she ran.
As she exited the city, she heard the blast sound and the ground vibrate. Roka stumbled and turned around to take on last look at Angel Brooke...
* * *
Roka wandered to the next town, crying the whole way. She accessed the bank account the Bikiten's had left her and uses some of it to have part of her memory erased. The pain of all of this was too great. And she was only ten. She didn't want to deal with it.
She erases everything but the memory of Minoa, Angel Brooke, her biological family, and the Bikiten's.
* * *
(10 years later...)
Having had her memory erased, she travels to Minoa and Angel Brooke, only to discover angel feathers scattered about. Had ange's done this? She would find out.
But, first, she needed to find Kira...
