General Character Information

Character Name: Ophelia
Character Age: 16
Character Gender: female
Character Race: other/half-merling
Character Position: Evil
Character Personality:
she lazy, and sarcastic. she has an air of self radiating importance about her, and is a serial narcissist. She loves practical jokes and riddles (as mermaids often do), but has little patience for stupidity or non-compliance. She is powerful, a tiny warrior, completely stoic except for her obvious sense of ironic humor, and ruthless in battle. Nothing fazes her, she hates cheaters, and those to who try to "dupe" her. Her weakness lies in vanity as she prizes her own "looks" far above all others. You do NOT want to be on her bad side, did I mention she has frequent and erratic mood swings? When toying with an opponent she can seem coy and kittenish. She hates pirates, loves water, and bright sunlight tends to irk her.
Character's Appearance:
She is about 5'3 and wiry, unnaturally so, so that her bones jut out of her wispy figure oddly. Her skin is lovely, pale, and luminescent in the dark, and pasty white in bright light. She has large wary purple red eyes, with green eye lashes, and green eye brows. She has an extra eye lid that's pure shiny black and slides down when she goes under water. Her legs and arms are long, and lank dark green hair flows down from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. It's wild and tangly and it constantly ungulateing as if she's under water. she wears a ragged red dress from the 70's and faded black jacket with claw marks. She has the vague appearance of a young teenage girl. Her hands are ungraceful looking, long and slightly webbed with sharpened claws/nails. A hidden necklace of pink and white shells resides in her jacket pocket on the left side, and well as a pirate patch. On the right side of her jacket pockets, a jar of tar/pirate blood and a gold music box.

Battle Information
--------------------------------------
Weapon Name: Pirate Sword?
Weapon Appearance: A ragged scratched pirate sword. Silver and black, with moss clinging to it, blood stains and a watch welded onto the hilt. (Tied haphazardly to her belt under the jacket)
Abilities:
Natural S.C.U.B.A-
She has small gills on either side of her neck and shoulders- better known as "the collar bone"- with which she can stay underwater for very long periods of time. She can also "see" underwater because she has a second set of eyelids. These are shiny, black and opaque and slide over her normal eyes from each side horizontally. Both functions allow her walk on the bottom of lakes and ponds, and the ocean.
Hapless hair-
Her hair is almost a separate entity from herself. It moves and ungulates independently and makes an effective deadly weapon. Because the long green strands can grasp things, be used as spare limbs, hit with surprising force, strangle, and grow at an alarming rate. (better known as regeneration)
Door of the Abyss- (for lack of a better/less lame name)
She carries a little golden carousel music box and a small jar of black sticky tar mixed with pirate blood. If she is able, she can draw and small door on the ground and play the music box. the door will open to let her and anyone who she chooses to take with her into the nearest body of water. It is more potent if she does it IN a place closer to water than normal solid ground. Such as the bottom of a bathtub, a shower, a pool. That would lead her to a pond or an ocean or bay. If she did it on a black top in 90 degree weather she'd end up in a puddle.

Character History
--------------------------------------
Her mother was a Mermaid that lived on the lovely white sand beaches of Never-Never land. She did normal mermaid things. She collected shells, she sang, she combed her hair, she flopped her tail and sang at sailors, she colleted more shells. Life was good.
But one day life just got too boring for her. So she swam around looking for what mischief she could stir up. And eventually she found herself in the pirate cove. What was the worst that could happen? The answer- She fell in love at first sight.
A dashing Handsome hook-handed man stood on the prow or a large and stately ship. She sang to him, but he didn't notice, because he saw mermaids all the time and looked at her like another animal in the bay. So she went to a certain sea witch named Ursula to see what she could do about getting some legs to go get her some pirate. (this is NOT repeat NOT Ariel) So she did (only instead of trading her voice she traded a couple fingers and toes), and she threw herself shamelessly at Captain Hook, flirting, looking beautiful, singing, the whole nine yards. He too fell in love, because no other women had ever even looked at him TWICE! Soon they were besotted with each other, and a real first class "item".
But after several happy years (even though Hook ignored her a lot to go fight certain green tight cloven boys) she revealed to him what she was. He was discusted. HORRIFED! That he had been in love with an "animal" and immediately broke up with her. But unfortunately, although break ups happen all the time, this particular break up was attached to more emotional tension than most, first because she was pregnant, and second because he knew and wanted nothing to do with the baby. And then...she was thrown over board during a storm.
When the awkward strange two legged mer-ling was eventually born the mermaid found him flung it on the board of his ship saying that his daughter bore a curse. That "Ophelia" would one day grow up to murder him in cold blood, and take his place in the world. The "half breed" never swimming or sinking but always drowning, attached to death and tragedy. But he only laughed and told his crew that she was to be raised as a normal cabin girl and that he never wanted to see "the monster's face ever again". The other pirates took her down below deck ignoring the baby's cries and leaving her alone on the floor.
She grew up to work on the ship as a cabin-girl as promised and suffered terrible abuse. She was miserable and full of rage, with no family, no friends, and no clue who or WHAT she was. But then the darkness came, and offered Hook a deal. And Ophelia was listening behind closed doors as well or better than Hook.
One night she took his sword, maimed him horribly while he was sleeping, and escaped silently over the edge of the boat with barely a ripple. Ophelia threw herself fully into the darkness, to escape, to start fresh, to find out who she was, to gain the power she had always been denied, to feed to her curiosity, to find her family. It swallowed her, consumed her and spit her back out in traverse town.
