Audition post (400 words):
What is this place?
Lying in the moonlit realm, the nonextistent being slowly, but surely, came to his senses. The fog in his head was slowly pulling away. The last thing he rmembered, the real him was striking him down, and letting himself fade into the darkness. But, he could feel... Was this death? Or was this a new life?
Opening to look at the world through clouded blue eyes, the white-haired boy's pupils widened to take in all of the light they could gather. Water lay at his feet, while sand itched at his back. And the essence of darkness stand right behind him.
The Replica sat up, looking at his maroon, gloved hands, the clone slowly exammined them, looking for some imperfection, a mark. Some sign that this was real. The other Riku, the original, he had... killed him. This wasnt possible? Was it? Really? Could he, after all of this time, be alive?
Tight cords clung to his muscular body, and the clone, bewildered, suddenly, and unexpectedly smirked. A devious grin, barely distinguishable from his usual mellow expression, appeared on his face. Yes. He was alive. The other him, the other Riku, had failed to send him to the depths of oblivion. He was still here. He still existed.
But, where was here?
Standing up, the Replica wiped himself off briskly, stepping into the very edges of the dark blue water. Even through his boots, it was cold... So cold... And the darkness of this place... How was it possible any light at all was present in this desolent land?
Water rammed gently into the tips of his boots, and the Replica, confused, was drawn farther into the water. Stepping without caution, the water slowly rose up his body. To his ankles, his knees, his waist, and finally, his chest. Cold, stinging water numbed his body parts, but the realness felt so warm. He was alive. He didnt care how, but he was living.
However, what was the use of living if there was nowhere to go?
No escape from this place in sight. Nothing. This was no different from the white castle; many places to go, but nothing to see. Nothing different. The waves may have been new, but something told him that a part of him had been here before, and he knew what they would feel like. What they would... Sound like. Simply knowing something already, it gave the Replica insight into what had happened.
"He's been here..."
Was this destiny? To follow in the footsteps of someone else?
Turning around in silent disgust, the Replica slowly walked out of the water. Cold rage dominated his mind. He did not want to be anywhere where the original had been. He didnt want to be the original, he wanted to be his own true being. But why? Why did he hate the original?
Stepping out of the water, Riku slowly made his way into the everlasting darkness... The one place the original never went.
