Appearance:

Physical Features: Zane has wide shoulders, wider than the average avian man. He has combat training, putting him in better than decent physical shape, but he spends little time on the battlefield, displayed in the lack of full tone.

Facial Features: As with the other king cobras, Zane has a pair of sharp garnet eyes to compliment his jet-black hair. The upper half of his face is mildly square, with a sharp inward tug of the cheekbones to a squared chin. His eyebrows have been removed, but this only softens his face. His mouth switches between semi-permanent smirk, as if he things that the world is his toy and he gets what he wants from it, and a more serious look in which his lips were pulled into his mouth.

Clothing: Often clothed in fine linens, Zane can be seen wearing silk shirts, and snakeskin slacks. The shirt is simply cut, but custom tailored. The pants were made the same way, but from one of his own kind. Whether outside or not, he wears leather shoes whose only purpose are to prevent his feet from getting dirty.

Miscellaneous Items/Articles: On his right hand, Zane wears a silver signet ring, inlaid with a generously sized onyx stone. This signifies that he is of the royal family, and Diente to the serpiente throne.

Personality:

Resolve: Zane Cobriana was one of hundreds of serpiente who were born into a vicious war with the avians. No one knows what started the war, not even the avians do. The primary reason that the war had been going on for so long is for each side was fighting to avenge the deaths of their loved ones. Anjay Cobriana, four years older than Zane, was one of the royal family who attempted to make peace with the avians. He was killed before he reached the Keep. At a brief meeting in the peaceful lands of the wise Mistari, a suggestion arises. Zane, wanting peace as badly as the rest of both races, attempts to follow through with it and begins to court Danica Shardae, the heir to the Tuuli Thea, of the avians. To see the end of the war is all Zane wants. Whether it is by pronouncing Danica his Naga, or by destroying the Hawk's Keep, he will see the end of it.

Fears: As fearless as he attempts to be when he presents himself in front of his people, he gets unsettled by the thought of his choice of mate not being accepted. He and Danica are becoming more comfortable with each other, but the others of both their races doubt the other.

Hopes: It had only been a few weeks since Zane had taken the throne as Diente and been declared as Danica's alistair. He and his mate travel at intervals between the serpiente palace and the hawk's keep, showing the people of both races how true he is in wanting peace. Ideas of a joined court are presented and the markets of both courts work on making it a reality. Artists and architects and dreamers work together, regardless of race, to create this joined court. As a major step away from war, Zane hopes the plans will work.

Hobbies: Zane is not the typical detached ruler. He often enjoys being with his people as much as possible. Whether it's talking with his subjects in the market, sampling food from the chefs, practicing archery or combat with the soldiers, or dancing, he likes to be with his people. He has a wide range of emotions, but this doesn't stop him from following his whims.

Public Personality/Private Personality: As a serpiente often is, Zane is very expressive. If he is angry, he shows it. If he is bothered, he lets you know. He isn't used to concealing his emotions, which doesn't allow for much discrepancy between his public and private personalities. He may hold his tongue to avoid offending someone, but that's only if he's in a good mood. He is a very public person.

Weapon Name: Serpiente bow, dirk

Weapon Description: The serpiente bow was larger than an avian bow and had a stiffer draw. The arrow was plain and smooth; it was designed to fly far and penetrate as deeply as possible. If the arrow did not hit a bone, at a close distance, it could go through the target and into someone behind them.

The dirk was a long knife that moved with as much fluidity as the snake holding it. It struck quickly and efficiently. Simple and easy.

Base Ability: Shapeshifting

Sub Abilities:

Cobra, Demi-form: A human shaped form, but enhanced with the abilites of a cobra. Scaled armor to replace skin, thick fangs, and enhanced senses (including a "sixth sense" that allows Zane to "smell" emotions, especially strong ones like fear).

Cobra, Full-form: No longer human, this form is a cobra in every way. Enhancements of the demi-form are twice as strong while completely shifted. A fully shifted cobra moves twice as fast as a human and moves twice that speed when striking. Strike range is five feet.

Cobra Venom: Opponent is poisoned for two rounds. Can be used with a strike, but the strike causes no damage.

History: The avian and serpiente war had been going on for centuries. It has been said to have been fought like two dancers that know the others moves. Back and forth, each side lost soldiers every day. The fields at the border of their lands has been stained with blood.

One day, Irene Cobriana, Zane's younger sister, traveled to the Hawk's Keep before the day's fighting began. She was surrounded by a number of the Royal Flight, the Tuuli Thea's personal guards, and the Tuuli Thea and her heir were brought to the courtyard to hear what she had to say. The serpiente wanted to end the war. And how? By meeting at the peaceful lands of the Mistari and hear their wise words. Warring nations had visited there for ages to get advice. And many of those nations had gained peace by following that advice.

The day came when the two races met. Both the heir to the Diente of the serpiente and the heir to the Tuuli Thea of the avians were in attendance. Once the situation was declared, Mistari Disa conferred with her mate for a set of moments. Then she gave a suggestion that both sides saw as outrageous. Zane and Danica should take the other as their pair bond.

Although both sides protested, Zane and Danica saw the true potential behind the suggestion. And so they attempted to put it into action. Zane declared Danica his Naga in front of the serpiente court, and Danica declared Zane her alistair in front of the avian court. Both sides reacted with a general shock, but most approved the decision.

After a few weeks of this arrangement, Zane was traveling back to the serpiente palace from the Hawk's Keep, and he saw something out of place. Traveling a short distance into the woods without a guard, he found a door. Keenly interested in this portal to nowhere, he opened it. It was then that he discovered other worlds and he saw that they also were consumed by war. Except this was a war for survival. Which side should he play?
