So Leon,
Hey, Leon!
Leon <3,
Dear Leon,
"Oh Leon, you're making this hard on me, and you aren't even here!"
Really, it was sad that writing a letter could be this hard! And having to use the most basic, generic beginnings possible.
It was true that she hadn't seen the man for a while, but Rinoa was never one to really have a hard time with words. She could always just say what she wanted outright without much thought. open and flat-out honest. Maybe that was the problem. This was writing, forcing her to actually think about how her words would be read. She'd have to think her words through instead of them just jumping from her lips before she could consider how they'd be heard.
"...Gr! This letter is being so mean!"
It was kind of annoying. She knew what she wanted to say, but it looked all wrong on paper. Maybe she should have made it a point to practice her letter writing sometime in her life before this.
"Or maybe I should rip it up and write it over....nah. But this has to sound good. It's been a while since we've talked..." she huffed to herself as she paced the floor. It was easy to tell her boots were heavy by the clomping sound she was making, with no regard to the family trying to sleep in the room below her of course. She was caught up in her thoughts. In her emotions, and how to transfer them from her mouth to the white stationary in front of her on the worn desk.
After a moment she returned and blew the eraser dust from earlier off of the paper.
Still brooding? Last time I saw you, you were incredibly hard on yourself for something that wasn't your fault, silly. Please tell me you're happier now and everything is doing well. Your sulky face made me feel sad. Don't get me wrong, you were so serious it was adorable on our first date~ I'm sorry I couldn't be there to try and keep your head up like I wanted. Duty called...rather loudly. Did you at least miss me, Leon?!
She managed to tease him a little, but her voice seemed flat when she read it back to herself. They were her words, but the point would've been easier to get across if she were face to face with the brunette man with the charming scar. But then again, this was pen written flat on the paper. Hopefully he would just be able to imagine how she meant her words. There was just something appealing about Leon, despite his gloomy, withdrawn state.
Rinoa wrinkled her nose up a little and made a disgruntled face, but shortly a resigned smile returned to her lips and she sighed through her nose, returning to the desk to write some more. When she'd stood again, she wasn't sure. After she flipped some ebony locks from her face, she started a new paragraph on the small note.
Actually, you better be at least able to smile at me when you see me, Leon. I'm coming to visit you soon. It'd be nice to see you again. I actually kind of miss you, and it'd be a plus if you are a little less withdrawn when I find you. You do have your home back, after all. I don't want to have to drag you out of your shell like I did last time, hehe.
A little better. She giggled to herself. More neat, rounded curly letters flowed as ink onto the white. Time to finish this!
See you soon so Get Ready,
Rinoa Heartilly (glowing butterfly symbol)
Once she was done, she folded the letter and placed it in the envelope. She leaned in and breathed on the folded letter, then sealed it shut. It then floated up from her hands and out the open window to begin its journey to the man living in Hollow Bastion.
