Audition post (400 words):
As the transparent and heavy rain ricketed the roof above, blue eyes stared up at the ceiling. The blanket sealed his warmth. The flickering lamp across the room gave light, much like a flame. This boy was Roxas. His blonde hair retained its lively form even while horizontal. His mouth was open only slightly, and he exhaled gently from his position. His room in Twilight Town didn’t seem to have its calming effect any longer.
His window was open. The rain, like silvery strands falling from the black sky, flittered as they came close enough to the window; the lamp made it so. The lamp---a simple lamp with a long neck---gave a dim, red light. Action figures, posters, a clock, clothes on the floor, and more gave red shadows from the lamp. The orange walls seemed red themselves because of the lamp.
Roxas sucked his teeth audibly at the voice that wrung through his head, his palm against his forehead now. His head began to bang wildly and painfully at the thought. In a hazy hue of a cloud in his mind, a red-haired man with a friendly face appeared. He spoke the same phrase with wild hand movements and more. “What…was that?”
Staring up at the ceiling only a moment longer, Roxas sighed. What am I even doing here? I’m supposed to be looking for Sora. And with that, Roxas threw off the covers. His normal clothes shook at his sudden movement as he lurched up out of bed and to his feet. A pool of darkness grew beneath his feet. Answers, he thought, the darkness whisping over his legs. All I need are answers. The darkness climbed higher and higher. Answers to become whole. Higher. The answers to the questions my Heart asks. Just a little higher. The answer to everything. That means you… Sora! The darkness dispersed, and now stood Roxas, but with a black cloak draping over his body.
Darkened hands shoved the windows open, and the rain blew in instantly. “To get those answers,” Roxas began and pulled his hood over the top of his head with a slow yet precise move, “I run into the Dark.” He shot through the window with somewhat acrobatic grace. The rain water spiraled about him as he fell to the ground. His feet touched down and the water shot outwards like a boulder had hit a two inch puddle.
But, the shadows heard him and moved accordingly. In the dark recesses of the alleys, the shadows moved forward like silent killers. Before long, they rose up into the third dimension, ready to tear Roxas apart to attain his legendary weapons. “Move!” he shouted, annoyed at the sight of these ever-stalking Heartless.
The Shadows didn’t seem to want to listen. They leapt into the air from all sides, converging upon Roxas.
Roxas snorted in disgust, but soon afterwards smirked. Guess the Dark is the one running at me.
“Okay! Get ready!”

"Do you know why the sun looks red as it sinks below the horizon? It’s because among the countless colors comprising light, red travels the greatest distance."
