After conferring a bit I'm changing my opinion on this. We don't live in the past, this is the present. FM is not headed by Avenger, rules will change. It might be a bit more constructive that members such as myself no longer create threads of anger or disagreement but pm admin or create threads that seek a resolution. I acted hastily, but given a second thought I see no reason now to think this new system is a bad idea.

No, as you said it's the admins forum. Why did you or I need to say nay? No crime was committed, and nothing says it's a bad idea. If people continue to over-react they're making a lion out of a seal, this is no big deal, nothing says this is a bad idea. Period.

I'm willing so see what you guys come up with to make a better ability rule that accomplishes moving the shift away from battling all the time, but I stand by my rule. All I ask is for respect and for everyone to at least try this. I didn't make this change without discussing it with more than enough people. Only one disagreed, and I am not going to back down because one person, or four, disagree with it.
This ISN'T the old FM. It's new, and with a new admin. Things won't be the same, and really, I don't see why it should. It's been the same for a long time, and I don't see a whole lot of RPing. It's not wrong of me to make changes that I see would help encourage roleplay, which is what this forum is about.

Now here's the reason we didn't confer with you all beforehand. It's quite simple really. Nothing gets done.
What happens is, for about a week, a suggestion such as this will be argued over constantly. I've witnessed many times where a suggestion is put out there by the staff and nothing gets accomplished. I myself had contributed to these discussions awhile back when I was not part of the staff. On various occasions the suggestions were put there to rot after the members chewed them up and then of course they are now archived. Sure there were some exceptions, but it mostly turned out like the situation I described.
Now then for those of you who still think this is v1 or v2, forget it. We are not Avenger. None of us are really anything like Avenger. Iris is the head admin of FM whether you like it or not. You are not going to drive her away by acting like a bunch of children who can't accept change. The new system is not indefinite. We will see how it works out, and if it fails so be it. I expected better out of those of you who immediately struck out, mere minutes after the system was put up. This was not a suggestion, or a cry for help. This was a childish prank. I know for a fact no good is going to come out of this. Therefore this will now be locked. Vent your frustration elsewhere. You risk being banned if you even think of tearing Iris or me up about this over MSN.
