Yeah....pretty soon, he is going to become president? Who's going to watch the whole thing happen? Or at least watch it to some degree? Me, I'll follow the Daily Show's report on Obama's Inauguration. Don't really care if they're 'proper' news or not; I would rather watch them now than any of the news channel..... After all they said that they're are; The Best F**king News Team.

I won't be watching it mainly over how they are making a huge deal over him. I still think Obama will be as lousy as any of the previous presidents before him.

I can't, I'll be in a car when that happens. I guess I can listen to it on the radio.
I think he'll be kickass, personally.

I just love all the media hype he's already getting. Yes, it's historic that an African-American man is getting elected to office for the first time, but people have been blowing how great he'll be way out of proportions. A girl said how he's been such a great leader and she couldn't imagine anyone else being as good of a leader . . .
. . . he's not even in office yet. He hasn't done any leading at all really. He hasn't done anything yet except make campaign promises, half of which he won't keep.
Also, the news the other day was talking about how Michelle Obama was going to be the symbol of fashion with what she was wearing, and how that was one of the main roles of the first lady. Has anyone ever said anything about any of the other first ladies?
No.
Does anyone look up to the first lady for fashion?
No.
Is Obama being blown out of proportions?
The word 'yes' doesn't suffice.
Now, I believe he'll be a fine president, but for the love of God, can someone tell the media to go crazy when he's actually done something for the country, and not before?
*rubs temples*
I can't wait until all of this media coverage is over.
And just so I can quash any opposition now, I'm neither a McCain or Obama supporter, so don't say I'm just complaining because Obama was elected.

He's done plenty, man. He's a Senator! They don't sit around twiddling their thumbs all day, you know.

You do realize EVERY president in modern times where mass media existed to the public, it was advertised to death? The only reason you might think it's absolutely done to inane proportions is due to a combination of internet, corporate, and news advertisement, which all have new ways to broadcast and spread news at increasing rates. Yet regardless, this presidential inauguration is no different than any other (albeit he's the first black president, but that matters not in this, being president is what does). Jacqueline Kennedy anyone? Nancy Reagen? Laura Bush if you wanted (many more First Ladies, if not, again, all of the modern times). This is a tradition, the First Lady has her roles of informing the masses what she likes to wear and how she styles the White House, then everyone treats it like it's culture. Nothing new. This is politics. Research the Great Depression, arguably an equal if not lesser time to what we will experience. People are willing to jump to ANYONE that talks change in these times. Of course many a people will oppose and even want to kill them. Smedly Butler teaches us this (Wiki because it's the easiest site to find, I recommend his books or other sites that explain The Business Plot, since it's one of the least talked about important events in American history). Point is the media will treat him like a savior until he messes up AND THEN IT WILL BE OHSODRAMATIC, because gosh, he wasn't supposed to do that!!! Seriously, a President will fail in someone's eyes, it's impossible as a leader to please everyone. You can count on all of this positive press to turn sour the moment the Corporations that control the broadcasting channels get mad at Obama. ^Read what I said above. = D But I get the frustration with how much advertising they're doing for the Inauguration. You have to understand it's a tradition, it's a ceremony. It must be done to inform the people, yes, but also shouldn't it be done to make them think everything is good, take pride in the leader? Blind patriotism in a time of great troubles. Imagine all of the attention they could be bringing to the Iraq War, Afghanistan, Sweatshops in Asia, Jobs being cut, Wall Street Corruption, BUT OH, remember that Corporations control the media and own it, so you will get Corporate media and agendas in your face. You just happen to not be the happy little patriot they prefer. ;D My advise, stop watching TV, read newspapers, at least there you have a paper trail to follow when they mess up or misinform you. It's what I do at least. Up to my own due diligence in the end. Are you by chance a Ron Paul supporter Ammy?

Konaa . . . he hasn't been a Senator for nearly as long as the majority of people in office up there. I'm sure many of them are much better leaders in their duties from their experience alone.
Kempff: Oh, where to begin.
1. Perhaps I shouldn't have narrowed it down to media hype. The overall hype he has been receiving is just . . . completely rediculous. Running news stories because he's buying a dog? Talking about his physical appearance at a beach getaway? Reporting his kids are having their first day of school? (Or something along those lines) It's . . . completely rediculous in every aspect. I can't remember if back when Bush was elected there was this much unnecessarily pointless drivel about him, but I'm guessing there wasn't.
2.
Sexist, much?
I'd just like to ask everyone reading this to name how many people they know who have ever thought about what the first lady was wearing recently, and used that knowledge to make their own dress decisions. I'm guessing they'd look at supermodels first.
3. I simply say this because I have never seen so much unnecessary clamor for one man in...ever. Granted, we're in an interesting situation, but is there not such a thing as a tad too far?
. . . I take that back. With media today, there's no such thing as 'too far.' Oh, journalism . . . how people have sullied your once proud name.
Of course, I mean the name not associated with Yellow Journalism, if anyone else wants to make history references.
And Kempff, I support him in a different sense. I support him because I find it admirable that he's so determined to succeed. How many times has he run for president? How many times has he won? Will he ever win? The answer to the last one is no.
Before I start rambling, I wouldn't vote for him seriously. I pity the poor man.

Again, this has never EVER been odd, every President gets this kind of attention. He's the head executive leader, who now in this media age is going to be the center of attention. He's the head of state, what else can you expect?
Yes the US is. That's how it works, sadly. If you meant I was being sexist, blame the internet, it doesn't translate sarcasm well. As for your question, c'mon seriously, you're asking TEENAGERS, do you think they even care (much less study history)? As your target group gets older though you can expect more people to associate with the First Lady, Traditions work like that. (Again, I referenced very famous First Ladies who were known for serving this role.)
Well when the country looks to be falling in on itself, values supposedly crumbling, jobs being eradicated everyday, Xenophobia on the rise, The War on Terror never ever ending, etc, people get desperate. Then a so-called savior of the people comes along, or perhaps that's what we've collectively allowed ourselves to believe of him. Change he says, and change we technically have received, and then of course the media jumped aboard and ever since their endless garbage spewing mouths are going day and night. Again, my point is this is to be expected =/ what would be nice though is if we take our expectations back down to reality and realize what can be done and what will happen. Too bad that won't happen with the media. (As for journalism, so long as corporations with interests control them and their employers, it'll continue to erode journalism. Mind you Journalism in the early Twentieth century was deplorable. ;D (as you're aware with Yellow Journalism) Then it recovered in the middle, and then we got all conservative on it's ass. Sucks no?)
Um Ammy, you mean Ralph Nader, Mr. Green Party. I was talking about Ron Paul, Mr. Abolish the Fed. Don't pity Ralph, pity America, because America thinks he's pitiable. That man has done more than most of us ever will, we're just too stupid to educate ourselves about him. Research the Corsair GM car fiasco of the 70's, where Nader made his name and monies. As for Ron Paul, awesome guy I think, but like Nader, Americans are too stupid to educate themselves about alternative mainstream candidates.
Hmmm, well Inauguration tomorrow. History is set.
What does everyone expect or hope will happen in the next few months of this president's candidacy?
I expect the financial situation to worsen quite a bit, job losses to climb higher, and the US unable to borrow anymore money. A depression in other words. I do though expect President Obama to do a fair amount of things to make jobs for the people, but....I can't say the next year or so is bright. I think we should all pay close attention to the news in the next few months, this presidency is going to be a long and tumultuous one and important things will happen early that will set the future tone.

Oh yeah....I almost forgot all about Ron Paul. 0_o
It's a shame: Americans only supports two parties, never bothering to check the third party. I saw one idea of their's that looked...interesting.
It was about Taxes. Apparently, the amount of taxes that you pay would of been based on how much you spend, meaning; the more you spend, the more taxes you pay and vice-versa.
A comedian tells exactly how the third party is to Americans:
"Nader....you remember taking tests, and they immediatly tell you to eliminate one that sounds crazy?...That's him. Like.....The square root of 144 is: A) 12 B) 14 C) Chocolate
....I know it's not chocolate: That's Nader."

My school is a total republican. Almost everyone booed at my class during the Inauguration. Then again, I do live in a republican state.>.> I was hoping to watch the Daily Show...but then I remembered it only comes on 'live' at night and even if they did hosted it during the inauguration; our school didn't have it.>.>

Good luck to Obama I say. He has a tough job now and he's going to need it. I may have been rooting for Ron Paul to be the Americans' next leader but I'll support whoever they choose and hope they do their best.
