Audition post (400 words):
The Silent Hero stood true to his title, or at least half of it. With both arms crossed and his mighty tomahawk resting blade-down at his side in the earth, the Nobody seemed as if an unbreakable pillar. Darkness enshrouded the village, a darkness littered with pairs of beady yellow eyes. Countless Shadows covered the area, picking off the hearts of those who had fallen to the warrior's strength one by one.
Lexaeus gave no response to the cries for answers from those around him. They may have had hearts, but that did not mean he treated them as superiors or even equals. No, there was only one who Lexaes would ever grant that respect to and it was for that one's sake that he was here now.
Another would-be hero appeared, waving their blade. The Nobody opened his eyes and grabbed his weapon tightly, pulling it from the earth. It seemed this one wanted to free the maiden currently held captive in a ring of Heartless. He rushed the beasts but a wall of solid stone rose in his way, blocking the route and knocking them on their back before vanishing into dust almost immediately.
More demands for answers. Lexaeus did not look upon this warrior and use his abilities lightly. He sensed power from this one. The swordsman sprung back to his feet and unleashed a volley of ice crystals. They smashed against Centurion's wide side as the Silent Hero shielded himself with the tomahawk. One swing later and three man-sized boulders flew out from behind Number V, bouncing at the opponent. The battle continued in a flurry of elements and blades, but the human's spells held more bite than his short sword. The Nobody's physical might completely overwhelmed him in the end. He asked why as Lexaeus pinned the fallen hero to the ground with the tip of his large weapon. Was he worth a response? not really, but there was merit to stating it now unlike before.
"I have sought the strongest heart here," he said simply. That was enough. Centurion was raised up above its master, ready to break the opponent into pieces in one fell swoop.
A shriek. The maiden poured her heart out for the sake of her love. Lexaeus had felt the tell-tale signs at his appearance. The stirring of worry in her heart and the look of tears forming behind her eyes. Now she readily pleaded for him and the few sparse words that the Silent Hero had given her at the beginning of her capture were being accepted.
"Welcome the darkness and it will end."
The girl disappeared, the shadows saw to that as they fed on her strengthening heart, its new rich scent irresistible to them without the Nobody's command to hold. She was gone soon enough, a whirl of darkness enveloping both her and her guards before all vanished from sight.
Centurion fell back down to the earth as the Silent Hero's arm came down gently to his side. It vanished immediately once no longer needed. The dark champion turned around and began to walk toward a black portal that had formed. More calls came from the loser. He cried to wait. He screamed for vengeance. He pleaded for closure. He was offered none by the silent one. If he truly wanted revenge and the strength to carry it out, let his hatred and anger foster the darkest parts of his heart. The Organization's Number V would lead any man to war with himself, for it would only create stronger hearts to harvest in the end and the worthless ones would always fail to reach him.
The Superior's plans must be fulfilled. For one without a heart, no cost at the expense of others was too great.
