Well, as I read my past rps on this boards and compared them with the recent ones, I seem to have become worse instead of better. My word count has gone down by a good number, not to mention my creativity is diminishing. I've been reaching for words and phrases deep in the back of my head and it's hard for me to create a nice, long, detailed post unless I stay on the computer for a constant half hour. I need someone to help me. Now!
If I become any better after any practice, it'll help so much better with my novels I've been trying to complete. I haven't been able to since I don't have the ability. So, if there's anyone out there that can evaluate me and tell me that this isn't just a really long, drawn out writers' block, I would be grateful.

Nascent offers a good RP school sort of shindig, but I'm not sure how much time he has on his hands. You can always PM him about the idea.
We're already in a thread or two together, so if you want me to talk to you about your posts I'd be willing.
Yup.

First, let me assure you that what you're experiencing is normal. Take it from someone who's been involved in the RP arts for a solid 12 years now: creativity and focus come and go as though with a will of their own, set off by even the slightest of things. They can be EXTREMELY fickle. On the bright side, you're in much better shape than you think. I'd say my average post-writing time is 30 minutes; I can go waaaaaay beyond that, but I seldom go under it. You really shouldn't try to rush yourself when you're writing -- it can kill the creative process faster than anything I know. Words and phrases? I can help. Here's my three step process to reinforcing & expanding your vocabulary. - STEP 1: Go to Dictionary.com. Use it often (the Thesaurus is handy for finding words) and sign up for their Word of the Day via email.
- STEP 2: Download the Grandiloquent Dictionary, and learn to enjoy it thoroughly. There's more rare and archaic words in there than you can point a Keyblade at.
- STEP 3: I know I'm setting myself up here... but get yourself a brainstorming partner, someone you can go to when you're thinking of a word or phrase and just can't get it. Refer to Step 1 first, however.
Beyond that... perhaps I could give you some training? No guarantees on word and phrase retention, but it'll help your overall RP skills out. Be warned: if you accept, I will put you through some particularly grueling training exercises... just ask Rocket and Castaway. Did I mention that creativity is like a muscle? Use it too much and you'll wear it down; give it a chance to rest occasionally, and you'll be much happier with yourself as a writer. That's my advice!

One you're done with Nascent (he's a capable fellow, you should take up his offer), feel free to come my way. I'll be happy to discuss with you differences between RP and Writing, that way it's easier to role-play with others. It's all about reaction and consideration in this game.

Just one thing. Word count really isn't everything. XD

How true, Iris! One of the principal rules of good roleplay is Quality over Quantity.
