I have absolutely no clue what to do for Maleficent's personality. I stared at the word document today for twenty minutes and came up with only a single succinct passage:
Evil.
Apparently I have hit a road block. Or rammed into it, several times in an attempt to make a U-turn.
Having little to no Canon experience, help from anywhere I could get it would be ill. (I have also never played KH2 or finished KH1 *guilty smile*)

Maleficent is your basic cold, selfish, uncaring for anyone other than herself witch. Anything she does is pretty much to benefit her and her alone. What makes her enjoyable I think is her way of making this rotten personality so elegant in a manner of speaking. What I mean to say is how she presents herself as this sophisticated dominating evil witch, is kind of the reason why she is one of my favorite Disney villains. She reminds me of what can happen when a very spoiled girl gets older and acquires powers.

Shinn says it pretty darn well. Its all about the air of fake class.
I still remember how she showed up at the King's castle insulted that she wasn't invited despite being the bringer of all suffering and evil, then cursing Aurora to death as if it were the most proper thing to do for such an oversight. XD
The loud proclamations and certainty. The condescending smile as she talks to people she believes to be lesser than herself(Read: Everybody). The belief that she alone is worthy of any amount of power or attention that might exist...
Evil pretty much sums it up too though. lol

Perhaps even more important than the way Maleficent is is the way she sees herself. My impression of her has always been that of a perceptive, manipulative demagogue, someone who makes it their business to be able to play other people's fears, ambitions, and character traits like a well-tuned violin. She has a flair for the dramatic, but it's subdued by her need to present herself as more than just a person -- she wishes to be seen the equivalent to a force of nature, beyond the petty showmanship of mere mortals. In the mind of Maleficent: she is, therefore she is impressive. She's not queen of a kingdom or empress of an imperium; she's the Mistress of All Evil, a manifestation of the dread in every heart. She's that silent shape moving in the shadows when you're walking alone at night, that ominous sound you only half heard and strain, fearfully, to hear again without avail. She's a master of manipulation and of misfortunes, working her schemes from a distance with the skill of an expert tactician... yet dislikes getting her own hands dirty IF it can be avoided. She prefers to be known by many and met by few, a whispered name amongst terror-struck children as they huddle together. Her arrival is an omen of disaster, her anger the foreshadowing of inescapable sufferings. She is legend, she is fear, she is as much a staple of the ungodly darkness of the world as the devil himself, and equally to be feared. That's the image she aims to portray. If you need more inspiration, watching Sleeping Beauty probably couldn't hurt. Oh, and fun (non-canon) fact: apparently, back in the day, Hades and Maleficent dated for a while. Go figure! xD

Made me laugh.
To me, Maleficient has always struck me as the tried and true character archetype of a strict lady of prestige. Authoritarian and rule abiding (Albeit her own), harsh and ruthless. The evil seems to be but a side effect.
Think your crabby, widow highschool Chemistry teacher.

She's a homicidal maniac? Isn't that a lot there? A psychopath...you know...a notch or two below Hannibal Lecter.

Hmm... she never really struck me as the "kill everything" type... more of the "rule everything" variety of evil. But that's just my impression.
And is the video REALLY that bad? I admit, seeing Hades dress up like Mickey is... well, more than just a little disturbing, but beyond that it doesn't seem THAT bad to me. *shrugs*

A little disturbing!? A LITTLE disturbing!? *sputters* Nasccent, I shucked my scales early because of that!
Anyway, thanks for helping to clear that up. I just wanted to flesh out her likes and dislikes and this has been excellent. Super excellent. (Although I still suck at making her talk. -,-)
That's what I was having trouble vocalizing. XD

Meh, making Maleficent talk shouldn't really be all that difficult. She basically has two modes of interaction: looking down on others, and manipulating others. She just has to sound sufficiently self-assured, with a dose of arrogance and a dash of "I know more than you" sprinkled in there for flavor. And... "shucked your scales"?

I think that's the problem, Nas. Because she's apparently so 2-Dimensional, adding depth to her and what she says will be a bit troublesome.

Yeah...I'm totally set for any major-battle-debasing-enemies-prettily-and-wittily dialogue. But what if Maleficent is struck by a sudden fancy for an ice-cream at the local Super-Villain-Seven-Eleven? Or is forced to make small talk with her tax clerk? There are many frightening grey areas.
