In a Foregone Age...
It was a great and prosperous time, long before the Heartless were widely known and Keyblades were virtually unheard of, long before Ansem the Wise or Xehanort were ever born. In the quiet hamlet which would become Radiant Garden lived a man -- a very eccentric young man -- who was absolutely enthralled with the study of magic. Day and night he toiled, crafting spells and studying arcana with such intensity and devotion that his neighbors would tease that one day he'd become a spell himself.
How right they were.
It was an experiment with Blue Magic that caused it. Oh, how the young man loved Blue Magic! A theory he had, in fact, that with Blue Magic anything, anything at all was possible! So devoted he was to the idea that he determined that his first great contribution to the arcane arts would be The Elemental Transmigration of the Body... a feat that would let magic users tap directly into the power of elemental magic by becoming, themselves, a living conduit for it. A truly marvelous idea, he thought -- the gateway to unlimited power! The problem, however...
... was testing it.
He couldn't use animals for a number of reasons: their minds were too simple, their mana connection too small, and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get them to recite the spells he'd prepared. And he DID try. Gophers, rabbits, cats, dogs, deer, groundhogs, raccoons; nothing worked! Plants were out of the question as well, though that didn't stop him from giving it a go. And no one in town was willing to be his test subject -- FOOLS! -- no matter how much he assured them it was perfectly safe. Well... it would be perfectly safe, once he got his aether equations right. Which left only one option.
By golly, he'd test it on HIMSELF, gosh darnit!
Ah, but this young magicker was no fool. A bit zealous and over-the-top, but far from an idiot! So before he did any actual testing he fashioned a powerful magical amulet that would serve as an anchor for his Mind and Soul -- and, unbeknownst to him at the time, his Heart as well. With this, he thought, he would be safe; no matter WHAT harm might befall his body he'd remain in control, able to pick himself up afterward with the help of a little healing magic. And so the experiment began!
Each element in magic he tried to channel brought its own unique quirk. Earth magic made his skin unbearably itchy. Water magic made him feel bloated. Ice magic made his blood run cold, literally. Lightning gave him that unbearable pins and needles feeling. Time magic caused everything around him to become blurred and distorted. And fire... proved VERY problematic for clothing.
Eventually, there were only two elements left to test: Light... and Darkness. The young man tried channeling Light first, only to find that it seemingly had no effect whatsoever; no magic amplification, and no side effects either. He thought that quite strange indeed. And then, he moved onto Darkness . . .
. . . and encountered something that very, very few people in his time had ever experienced: his Heart, separating from his body.
In the midst of channelling Darkness, the man known as Weylon Fey ceased to be. In his place was a Heartless. The amulet around his neck, however, proved a saving grace beyond compare, for without it he truly would have been lost. Thanks to its powerful magics he did not actually lose his Heart... it merely transmigrated into the shining gemstone that served as the amulet's power source. In fact, so did his Mind and Soul. Though possessing the body of a small Heartless, Weylon Fey had, in truth, been reduced to little more than a fashionable trinket.
"Oh my!" Was the only thought to run through his head before a dark rift opened, pulling him inside. No one is quite sure what happened in that moment or why, though it can be speculated that the unbroken world barrier caused him to be spit out of the Realm of Light and into the Realm of Darkness. Whatever the case, Weylon Fey found himself wandering in the dark...
. . . for a very, very long time.

Physical appearance:
No longer human, Waylon now dwells in the body of a small, simple Shadow Heartless. Well... that's not quite accurate -- his body is that of a Shadow, but his Heart, Soul, and Mind reside in the large gemstone pendant he wears. Through a miracle of magic, this allows him to exert full control over the Shadow... well, almost full control. Every so often when his strength is exhausted the Shadow's feral instincts will take over -- that, and whenever there's ice cream nearby. For some ungodly, unimaginable reason, Wey's Shadow-body has an unbridled urge to devour ice cream that makes very little real sense. The blue mage strongly suspects it has something to do with his childhood love of the sweet dairy product... but why this trait would remain with the Heartless is anyone's guess.
Clothing/Accessories:
[Soul Sigil]
This amulet is something Weylon created especially to protect himself from his own crazy magical experiments. Originally meant as an "anchor" for his being, it now instead contains his being: Heart, Mind, and Soul. The binding magics are strong enough that only especially powerful Heartless would be able to sense the Heart contained inside it's mystical gemstone, and even then they'd have a hard time actually getting it. This crystal amulet is also the seat of what remains of his magic powers, allowing him amongst other things to speak and exercise his talents as a Blue Mage.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Behavior:
Weylon is smart, but he's also erratic. Imagine what happens when a mind is made to wander in endless darkness alone for decades, yet unable to lose itself to darkness' embrace -- like living safe in a glass-walled room while lunatics run wild outside... safe, but not unaffected. As a result, Weylon's disposition is EXTREMELY variable -- like a manic bipolar schizophrenic he can be happy as a ray of sunshine one minute, cursing existence the next, ranting in a wild frenzy, then move on as though nothing had happened and act like a normal person -- and you're the weird ones for looking at him funny! The things Wey says often sound very random to everyone else, but he thinks they're wise and insightful, of course! That's not to say Weylon has become an idiot; he still has the mind of a genius magics researcher... just a bit kerscuffled, that's all. On most topics he's able to hold a fairly normal conversation, but don't talk to him about magic, darkness, or anything mysterious unless you're ready to get an earful of garbled "wisdom".
Did I mention that his Heartless body is obsessed with ice cream? Yeah... that makes things interesting sometimes.

[Body of a Heartless]
Being trapped in a gemstone, Wey's only means of physically defending himself is his Shadow body... needless to say, this isn't usually of much help in a fight. Still, it's all he's got to work with. It's diminutive strength isn't useful for much but it's small size, ability to flatten like a pancake, and take long falls like a rubber ball occasionally come in handy.
If Wey's body gets destroyed -- which, no surprise, happens fairly often -- he can eventually generate a new one. If he's in the Realm of Light this can take around three hours; if in the Dark Realm or anywhere with an abundant supply of free-floating darkness, it can be shortened down to only one hour. Still, it's inconvenient as anything to be without a body for so long... and amazing how many people will pick up the amulet and pocket it in the meantime.

[Blue Mage]
As Blue Magic was Weylon's favorite arcane skill, it's one of the few magical powers he's managed to retain after wandering for so long in the Darkness. Should he manage to physically come into contact with -- even getting hit by so much as a glancing blow -- a magic/energy attack or something magically or energy empowered, Wey will gain the ability to magically recreate the exact same kind of power or effect for the course of the battle (or, if not in combat, roughly thirty minutes). This ability is limited, however, in that Wey needs a body to be able to cast magic through; it simply won't work if the pendant is just laying about on the ground somewhere.
All abilities gained through Blue Magic retain their original Strength, Uses, and other requisite aspects when used by Weylon. What's more, any specific requirements for using a particular ability (for instance, a spell that needs to use a weapon as a magic focus) have to be met to use that ability. Weylon's skill with Blue Magic allows him to retain up to FIVE abilities at a time, no more.
Strength: Strong
Uses: Up to 5 Blue Magic abilities may be temporarily "learned".
Duration: All Blue Magic abilities are discarded after battle.
[Mimic Heartless]
If there are other Heartless nearby, Wey's Shadow body can temporarily take on the form of another Heartless simply by touching -- or being touched -- by it. While in an acquired form Wey has command of all the mimicked Heartless' normal abilities... but at a price. He cannot use Blue Magic, though he can still "learn" spells and abilities for use later on. If hit with any kind of Light-based attack while in a mimicked form, Wey's body will instantly revert to its basic Shadow state -- assuming he's not outright destroyed by it.
Strength: Moderate
Uses: Up to 3 times per battle.
Duration: 3 posts.

~NOTES~
I'm sure we all remember when Sora got turned into a Shadow in KH1, and I'll wager most of us had this thought go through our heads at that point: "What'll I do if I have to fight as this puny, dinky little Heartless?!"
Weylon Fey has come to answer that question. ;D
Weylon combines two things that are EXTREMELY rare to find together in any kind of an RP: a dinky little weak character and a living, talking magic artifact.
Most weak characters of any merit are relegated to sidekick status or used for comic relief, plot devices, or the hero's love interest / pet / crazy fan person. You'll almost never find them as main characters, and if you do chances are they won't stay puny for very long. Weylon, by contrast, is a pansy -- he always was a pansy, always will be a pansy. He's the weakest type of Heartless, for cryin' out loud!
And most talking magical items are usually in the hands of some able-bodied (yet usually lacking in wisdom and guidance) hero character or a competent, arrogant, domineering villain... not the scrawny little kid who's always last to be picked and first to be picked on (unless the little brat goes on to become some kind of super hero).
So here I am, breaking all the "good, traditional ideas" for making characters... and I plan to have A WHOLE LOT OF FUN WITH IT! He's small, weak, easily made helpless, and lives in a necklace. Unconventionality, HERE I COME!!
