But if the government doesn't do anything to reimburse the computers that get hit, I'll be mad, especially if mine is one of them. Ermm...it'd be the virus protection companies responsibility. Or your own because you didn't have adequate virus protection. >_>

Nevermind, turns out it wasn't Conficker cause we could still access the sites we weren't sposed to be able to access, not to mention my anti viruses (all three of them) were able to track down viruses and delete them all.

True. Didn't think of Linux. Of course that requires computer knowledge.....bye bye 95% of the population.

My mother has very extensive knowledge of Linux. So I'm safe. XD
I keep getting logged out of msn the first time I try and log in. Not sure if it's my internet connection, but it didn't used to that before. Only recently. It says it's trying to reconnect. Sometimes it does it twice before I can log in. =/ It's really annoying.
I just ignore the weird IMs I get from people who are offline, they're usually virus links. I never click them, unless I'm reassured that it's safe, or I know what the site is.
EDIT: I actually just talked to Zach, he can't access webpages. It's been happening for a few months, from about a week or two after Christmas, which was when he got the computer. You think it has anything to do with Conflicter?

I laugh at viruses. I've never been infected. I intend to keep it that way.

MSN connection problems can be a lot of things. ISP problems, internet activity, traffic, etc. Yeah...those im's are not good, 99% of the time it's bad. Make sure to tell those people, open to open activity like Messengers are some of the easiest ways to get infected. Exactly what websites can't he access? Also, did he put any virus protection on the computer, what's he using currently, what did he use then...etc. All of that would help. Any other symptoms would be good. Conficker is very specific in recognizing it, but if you don't realize certain things are its doings, then it's hard to realize its there.

He can't access websites, period. He uses Norton Antivirus. >.< Personally I use Avira Antivir and Zone Alarm. They've worked good so far. I don't know any other symptoms he may have, though.

Your friend is in real trouble then. Not too many choices besides what I've advised. Maybe sweep the hard-drive, that's no fail proof. Maybe replace it? Hopefully the mother board isn't damaged or infected.

This is why I never put any personal data or important info on a computer...
