Ah... the materia bit of the weapon making was dumped (by Bilby, me thinks) due to overcomplexity.
I guess the rules haven't been updated, while the shop has! xD
Ignore the materia bits, Dei. Go with what the shop says, and all will be well... ~jedi voice~

Ah, I guess that one sentence slipped through the cracks when we changed the weapon upgrade rules. I've removed the mention of materia from the Tech Class rules.
Nascent's guide mentions materia because he started working on it right around when the 'beta' for weapon upgrades hit. Its now reformed like Rocket said based on feedback and Nascent knows that. It won't be in the final version of his guide.

It is my distinct pleasure to announce Final Mix Flash Guide version 0.5! Like its predecessor, this version is not yet complete -- however, it's almost halfway through the bulk content and covers enough material to help new members get acquainted with the workings of FM. If anyone can help me in the following two domains I'd be greatly appreciative. One: am I getting Tidus' personality right? I haven't actually played his game, and even though this is the KH kid version I don't want to alienate people from the game's fan base (though I imagine chucking fireballs at him doesn't help much). Two: if anyone knows where I can get some good sound effects for fireballs and whatnot I'd be extremely grateful!

Well, Tidus is sort of playing a silly KH fanboy so I wasn't really looking for his true personality from the guide. Its pretty far off in that respect but I just don't think anyone will care. XD
One thing I noticed was you mentioned about the powers the Class gives in profile section but you didn't mention the strong-weak triangle in the same section. That's probably an important thing to bring up in the actual creation area.

Well, it's good to know that. ;D
I considered it... but the thing is, I'm not sure how much that actually plays in to the FM experience. I know the usefulness of the triangle has been debated occasionally as well... but if several people feel strongly that it ought to be included I'll go back and add it in.

So long as people read the real rules it's fine. lol

Hmm... Is there a way you could implement a back button? Cause people can sometimes click ahead on accident and then have to go all the way back through the entire section to get to the right place. Alternatively, perhaps a way of reaching the individual parts of the section through the main menu.

Indeed, both a 'back' button and a topic selector are in my plans, though I'll need to complete the main time line and all the content before I can do either one.
The Action Script for a 'next' button is fairly simple -- you just tell it to go to the next frame and play; conversely, a 'back' button needs to be told exactly which frame to go back to, which creates a lot of tedious number juggling to keep track of. Same story with a topic selector. They're on the to-do list, but not until everything else is finalized.
So... any other feedback? What's everyone think of the running Axel gag?

That'll do little doggy, that'll do...
May I suggest that Axel and another character (Larxene?) might be used for the arena section? Just a quick Underdrome stadium sprite, and we could get some epic in this thing. Or a Hades vs. Axel match, which would really just be a giant flame-fight.

As much as I agree that would be fairly epic, there's two problems. One: no room for it in the script. Two: I'm not exactly Alvin Earthworm when it comes to Flash skills, so I don't think any fight scene I animated would have a sufficient dose of 'epic' in it. STATUS UPDATE: The Flash Guide is now finished except for topic selector and back buttons. Not entirely sure I'll have the time/energy/patience for back button coding, though. One way or another, the finished product will be up in a few days. If there's anything that needs improvement / repair at that point, I'm relying on you, my fellow forumers, to point it out to me, m'kay?

Total Hours Since Project Inception: 1,678 Total Frames in Flash Guide Main Timeline: 211,035 Liters of Soda Consumed (Approx): 36 PERCENT OF PROJECT COMPLETE: 100% Well, guess what? It's FINALLY DONE! So everybody, it's time to give me your undying love and adoration tell me what you think! I ended up realizing that the back buttons would take as much time to make as the rest of the project put together, so I scrapped that aspect. No need to worry -- the topic selector in the main menu makes jumping back a fairly easy process. Also, I still need fire sound effects, if anyone can find some good ones. If not, it'll stay like this. If you come across any broken links or material that needs to be added, please let me know! On a related topic... Akito, what do I win? ;D

Nascent, you are a GOD! I mean seriously, after all the time, effort, and soda you put into this, it came out great, and you do deserve something special. I hope that you do get something for doing this! And for crediting us members at the end, I give you two thumbs up for every person that was credited (So I cut them off some people, sue me why don't you). Just make sure you don't drop them or else some animal might come and eat them.
XD
Nah I kid about that cutting thumbs off bit. My favorite part was the last part, where Cloud turns out to be Axel.

I am very impressed. I had no idea something like this was being made. It was well worth your time and effort though. At least, I found it very amusing and informative. ^^

You win a pat on the back. Everyone give him a pat on the back.
I promised a Summon and I deliver. I'll mod the Summon myself. Alternatively, you can just get the 1000 Munny originally promised.
You did well, Nascent. To be honest, I was a little uncomfortable with someone new becoming staff so soon, but you've put my fears to rest.
Alright. What remains to be done is incorporating it into the forum, yes? The rules and such. I'm afraid I won't touch those for fear of messing everything up.
