Any game that starts with a boss battle is win, ok?
Anyways, guess what came in the mail today? ^.^ A special copy of Advent Children, which includes new scenes/features, but that's not important right now.
I'm talking about FFXIII, or rather the trial version I now have. Simply put...
Wow.
The graphics and music are outstanding, as to be expected. The characters are interesting and I feel as I've already made a connection with them. (Omg Snow. XD~ Course, nothing can beat Sazh's afro. Nothing.)
The fighting system is new; unlike any of the previous FF's. However, they have brought back the battle screen. There is no MP, only a time bar of sorts. You pick attacks that take a certain amount of time until you've filled up your bar. It's a very active system and if you like combos, you'll like this. You also get rated on your battles.
Did I mention how amazing the music and graphics are? The cities are amazing. My first thoughts of the game, based on a few areas, was that they mixed FFVI, FFVII, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. It's a highly advanced, technological world, but it still has a strong sense of fantasy about it.
Just simply walking around is a joy in itself. The character's movements are more refined then FFXII, and everything feels so fluid. I've also found myself staring in awe at the background. Literally, my senses are overwhelmed by all the amazing detail.
So will I be getting the game when it comes out? Definitely. They've already got me hooked and wanting more. Now, enough about XIII. Let's move on to the Versus preview.
First, I have to say, I love the theme song for this game. There is no voice acting for the video yet, so the music really stands out. Mostly, it has the main character dressed in a black suit talking to a girl dressed in an all white, modern day, casual business attire. This game really throws me off cause it looks as if it could pass for our day and age. The modern towers, cars, and business suits just seem bizarre and out of place for a Final Fantasy game. It takes place on the same world as XIII, but it looks so different. It'll be interesting to see how these two games mesh together and play on each other.
And finally, Agito for the PSP. To summarize the story, a group of thirteen students band together to try and defend their school from the war that is spreading across the world. (That's what I got from it anyway.) Each student specializes in one weapon, so there are thirteen to choose from. Probably not as in depth as the previous games, but it looks interesting, and is going to be multiplayer.
So there we have it. I might post something up about the new scenes and additions to Advent Children when I get around to watching it. (Though I don't think any version can beat the parody one I watched the other week... xD)
Questions? Comments? I know very little Japanese, so I apologize for any incorrect information. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my little review. ^_~
