Audition post (400 words):
A figure dressed in black robes floated along the floor. He went through and open doorway, and into a throne room. There were thirteen thrones, each one at various heights. The height of each particular owners throne depended on the number of successes they had, as well as the number of failures. This figure jumped into the air, and landed on the arm of his throne, the highest of them all. He quickly, and quietly took his seat.
Soon afterward, he spoke, and a low, emotionless voice filled the air. “I failed to gain the power of Kingdom Hearts, due to the pests called Sora and Riku. No matter, I shall not be denied this power twice. After all, Nothingness is eternal, and that is all us Nobodies can ever hope to be. Nothingness.”
The figure removed his hood, and revealed the tan skin, the golden yellow eyes, which for some reason seemed to have an orangish tint to them; and his long, spiky, silver hair. His face looked blank, not showing any signs of disappointment or sorrow. Then again, he had been a Nobody so long, Xemnas did not think it possible for him to fake such things. He remembered what Sora had said.
“There is more to a heart than anger and rage. Sure there are negative emotions, but there are good ones too. And that is what makes a heart so strong.”
Xemnas chuckled, but he still showed no sign of emotion. There was no smile, no smirk, and the laugh itself seemed cold and empty. He waved his arm, as if dismissing one thought. But if that was the case he quickly came up with another.
“Maybe Sora was right. Maybe the emotions I used to fight him were not enough. And if that is the case then maybe I need to do a little research.” He snapped his fingers, and two others dressed like him appeared.
“You called Xemnas?”
“Saïx. I need you and Xigbar to run and get me some test subjects. I want to see if Sora was right.” The two nodded and vanished into their own portals of darkness. Xemnas snapped his fingers again, and the other ten members of Organization XIII that had returned, or in some cases found, appeared. They each took their respective seats. Some of the members began talking, and two began joking around. “Welcome home my brethren. It is good to see you have all returned.”
“Ah but Superior, two of us are missing. And you seem to be forgetting that some of us were forced back here.”
“I know of your treachery Marluxia. I had Axel keeping an eye on you the whole time you were at Castle Oblivion. And even without him, I would have known. Those little television sets of yours not only showed me what you were watching, but what was going on in the rooms they were being used in.” He paused. “However, you were not the only one to commit treason against the Organization, and I will not punish you for it, nor any of the others. There are too few of us for that, at least for the moment.”
Marluxia crossed his arms, and turned his head, with a hint of anger in his eyes.
“We will rebuild Kingdom Hearts. And this time we will succeed, because we have a Keyblade wielder of our own. You all know what to do, now go and fulfill your roles.”
The members of Organization XIII left, leaving Xemnas alone. He left his throne, and ended up standing on the floor. He opened a dark portal, and entered it. He ended up inside a room, with a suit of armor, that seemed to be in rather poor condition.
“Hello old friend. It has been a while.” There was no reply that could be heard.
“Kingdom Hearts will be rebuilt, and once it is done, I will have absolute power. Those fools that call themselves members of Organization Thirteen have no idea that they will never regain their hearts. Any hope to be whole again will be crushed, and once I have what I want, they will be discarded like the tools they are.” All the while his arms and hands were moving this way and that. His voice and expression had not changed one bit, which Xemnas regarded as a blessing instead of a curse. He often wondered why his fellow Nobodies clung to a sense of humanity when there was no hope of gaining it. He turned to the armor, and in the wave of an arm, said good-bye.
“Until next time. And by that time, if all goes as I plan, I shall have eternal power, or close to gaining it.”
