Physical appearance ~ : Shera has sharply defined features that can't exactly be called 'pretty' but do lend a certain amount of gravity to her actions without making her appear old. It's an odd mixture of hard and soft that seems oddly appropriate despite the lack of premature wrinkling: there hasn't been many expressions on her face during her life. Cid was speeding up the process though.
Due to Geostigma, there's a faint spiderweb lining of something grey and pulsing beneath the skin of her forehead, arms and back. Occasionally it leaks dark fluid, but usually it's merely restricted to making her look tired. Normally her skin is pale but slightly flushed, in keeping with health and vigor and with treatment perhaps it will return to that state.
Shera normally wears her brown hair in one long ponytail behind her back, but has seriously considered cutting it to something shorter and more practical as of recent note. She wears glasses instead of indulging in contacts and the frames fit nicely over her equally brown eyes.
Clothing/Accessories ~ : Shera favors a simple one-piece dress of various soft hues (yellows, greens, and greys) but has been spotted in jeans, skirts, dresses and various combinations of tops that vary from sweats to suits. Her only vanity is, apparently, oversized boots that clash sometimes awkwardly and sometimes dramatically with whatever else her wardrobe is composed of. She calls them practical.
Her working gear is a lab coat. Do not ask about the lab coat. Whether it's a family heirloom, a keepsake of some distraught lover gone off to war (unlikely. Shera's not exactly the type for keepsakes) or just an example of over-professionalism it stays on whether or not everyone else is wearing overalls and elbow grease. Or maybe because everyone else is wearing overalls and elbow grease.

Behavior ~ : Shera is exceedingly meticulous, practical and level-headed. Others may call her a worrywart (or a killjoy or party pooper) but Shera believes that a minimum level of professionalism and caution should be maintained at all times. In sharp contrast to her employer's rather fiery tongue, Shera herself speaks only in measured, precise tones that convey only as much as she needs to, no more and no less. She isn't exactly one to give in to anger and baser emotions, but Shera does have limits to both her patience and tolerance and, probably, sanity.

GeoStigma~Wrath of the World
Geostigma was a disease that was first noticed a little before the Heartless invaded. No one discovered the exact cause prior to the invasion but Shera suspects that prolonged exposure to low-level dosages of Mako are responsible for the peculiar symptoms which include dark, oozing sores all over the body, weakness, frequent fevers, delirium and hallucinations.
It also appears to be invariably fatal. There hasn't been any evidence that its communicable but there's no denying that it has also been something of a hindrance to social life. Not that there's much left in the way of social life in Heartless-infested Radiant Garden, but that's probably why it's so important. Still, there are some interesting benefits...
Negative Symptoms (passive):
-All physical attributes decreased 25%
-Auditory and visual hallucinations during stressful circumstances which further decrease physical attributes by 10% (Battle)
-Bouts of epilepsy-like fits
-Decreased immune response
Positive symptoms (passive):
-The target's 'Heart' is hidden, thanks to the taint of the disease. Because of this Nobodies recognize Geostigma victims as one of their own (from a distance) and the Heartless treat the target as being 'traslucent'.

History
A scientist with a Ph.D in aeronautical and automotive engineering, Shera wrote her dissertation On the Practical Applications of Mako In the Use of Sustained Stationary Flight when she was 24. The original version was printed at exactly regulation requirements: one and a half-inch margins, double spaced, recto only and contained precisely 504 references, 61 figures and more constants and calculations than you could shake a small two-seater plane at.
It was, probably unsurprisingly, really quite boring. Quite like Shera herself who had taken a hugely controversial substance (mine it, change it, manufacture it, whatever- it still had highly addictive properties and was being sold under the moniker of 'Baby Blue' in the streets) and turned it into an abstract plaything of academia. All without crossing any moral even horizons. A footnote on page 312 acknowledged that there were 'unfortunate' consequences to mass-producing and mass-marketing such a potentially dangerous substance but added that with further research, a way to render it harmless to the human body was no doubt possible.

She was contacted by Shinra Corp just a month later and became one of the youngest head scientists at the preeminent Shinra Corp of Radiant Garden. When, three years later, Mako became widely available in no small part due to her research (despite more vigorous contestations than a footnote on page 312) Shera crossed out the Ph.D. in her C.V., conveniently 'lost' her last name and started off fresh as a simple engineer. While a meticulous person by nature, Shera was not particularly gifted at practicals and with a tendency towards dawdling, munny and basic necessities were, for a while, necessarily tight.
Then she met a boy. He could mean-spirited, crass, rude, annoying, neurotic when it came to tea but also tenacious, idealistic and funny. For a while the good little scientist turned engineer might have suspected she had fallen quite in love.
Then she broke his dream into a thousand splendid fragments and it was over.
Not because of that... but because the Heartless invaded.
