QM Audition [Brezzen, Akito and Gravity]

This quest is closed to the following people; Brezzen, Akito and Gravity.

[For the knowledge of those participating, this quest is AU, so deaths and the like will not require you to go through a resurrection quest afterwards.]

The three participants of this quest have been sent a letter from an unknown source. Upon opening the letter you will read the following:

Greetings,

My name is Mathias Belmont and I seek your assistance greatly. One of my most prized possessions has been stolen from me and it is integral that I get it back as soon as possible. After some searching, I have tracked down the location and have marked it onto a map that I have sent with this letter. The small red dot marks the entrance to a cave, which I have learned is currently being occupied by various different creatures as well as various traps and obstacles.

This is where you come in. Alas, I am not the greatest fighter in the world and will most likely be overwhelmed by what awaits inside of the cave. Whilst I have been able to do some searching inside of the cave, the sheer number of guarding inhabitants have made it impossible for me to explore that far. Needless to say, I imagine that I wouldn't last too long trying to explore through there by myself.

Your help will be sincerely appreciated and you shall be rewarded for your efforts in helping me. Whilst I possess little more in the way of finance to offer you myself, I do know of the treasures that lay within this cave. My primary intention is to retrieve the item I am searching for, you are quite welcome to help yourselves to any treasure that you find within.

I ask you to meet me at the cave a week from this Thursday at approximately 9pm. The cover of darkness will make an approach to this cave much easier. When you arrive at the entrance, make your way inside and wait for me. You shall be accompanied by two other people on this quest, so be sure to introduce yourselves.

I await our meeting with much anticipation. Be sure to equip yourselves well.

The map included within the letter shows the layout of a countryside area, showing safe, direct routes from each of the participant's known locations to the cave, located high up in the hills in a desolate area. The red dot marking the cave is clear to see and there are other small blue dots located around it showing other caves for the participants to use as checkpoints for their arrival. Needless to say, Mr. Belmont has ensured that people will have no problems getting there.

It's a week later on the Thursday and the time is approximately 9pm, the three adventurers will be one-by-one making their way to the location marked on their maps. The night provides the perfect cover for them as Mathias promised and they are able to get to their destination with no problems.

On arriving at the entrance to the cave, our visitors will see a battered wooden door in the grassy hillside, with a sign outside clarifying the name of the cave with what Mathias had marked on the map; "Sorrow's Cave". Various skulls and remains of dead animals litter the side of the doors, showing clear signs of what the questers could expect on the inside.

Passing through the battered wooden door, the inside of the cavern would be lit up before them by flaming torches mounted on the sides of each earthy wall. The timber mounted on the sides of the wall acted as supports, keeping the thick ceiling above them upright. However, its worn appearance showed that despite the strength is appeared to have to keep the tunnel before them upright, it could break with an unnecessary amount of force. Should one break, the rest would probably follow in a catastrophic chain reaction.

When the questers would look ahead of themselves from reaching the entrance, the tunnel would stretch downwards and onwards, with torches continuing to line the walls every twenty metres or so, providing light and creating dark shadowy areas. The tunnel would then turn to the right, making any further inspection impossible without traveling deeper.

OBJECTIVE: Meet at the entrance inside of the cave and await the arrival of Mathias Belmont. Start your posts as if were all working your way up from just outside of the cave and making your way through inside to the beginning of the tunnel you see inside.

Lysander trekked across the country-side, checking his map regularly to make sure he was following the right path. As he made it through the last of the blue dotted checkpoints, and neared the entrance of the cave Lysander decided that it had been very wise of him to don his traveling clothes instead of wearing his more gaudy cowboy outfit. It seemed like this adventure of sorts would lead him into some tight situations, although to be honest Lysander didn't really mind that. Just as long he got a little fame and got a little loot, he saw no reason to back down from what might be considered a risky venture.

He stopped at the entrance to the cave, looking over it. He stopped for a moment to relax before he began forward to meet up with this mysterious Mathias guy. He had to admit that he almost wanted to roll a cigarette then and there and have a smoke break. Shaking his head, his long black pony-tail bobbing excitedly, Lysander shrugged the notion off and entered the cave. Giving himself a few seconds to let his vision begin to adjust he started to make his way to the tunnel entrance where he was supposed to meet Mathias. He could feel his own heartbeat below his jaw as he swallowed past a tightness. His hand gripped around an imaginary gun, and sure enough one of his revolvers appeared within his fingers.

When he finally arrived at the tunnel's mouth, he holstered the revolver with an air frustration. Jumping at shadows. The Mr. Belmont wasn't here, and neither were the two helpers. He leaned back against the stone of the wall, arms folded over his chest, and began to do what any wise man ought to do. Wait.

Though a dark night, it was not uncomfortable to be floating in the breeze. Unlike hot Agrabah, or moist Atlantica, this world was strangely enjoyable as far as climate went. The deep black sky let the stars shine through, with only the purest clouds daring to block their light.

But enjoying the scenery was not Zelu's purpose, though he would've enjoyed the peace. No, the moogle was here on his financial burdens. Being a scientist was very tough, especially when no one funded your projects. Though the moogle was surviving, he couldn't say his research was doing the same. Zelu had reached a scientific stand-still, and it was quite annoying. He was trying to fuse two particles into one megaparticle, but all of his ideas required a massive amount of energy, which required a massive amount of money to even think of generating. Fusion was always an interesting topic, but it was so costly.

But, recently, Zelu had gotten an offer from a man named Mathias. This man was offering a great deal of money so he could retreive some treasure. And as the white moogle floated through the air, he slowly reviewed the letter, looking up every few minutes to make sure he was heading towards the cave.

There it was. Two massive wooden doors stood, and Zelu saw a man beside the gates already. Floating over in the most casual way possible, the moogle couldn't held but ask the man "You wouldn't happen to be Mathias, would you?"

Common sense would dictate that a suspicious letter like the one Alexis received was warrant the fire place immediately. A grim, dark cave, a treasure spoken of but not proven and a mystery abound? Please. Only fools would embark on such needless peril. That said, however, the world was changed with the actions of fools; those who bore not the common sense of normal men and women. Alexis found his sense of curiosity a far more pleasing master than stiffy old common sense and self preservation.

This is precisely the simple, perhaps even jokingly so, reason he waltzed right towards the entrance of the rather morbid Sorrow’s cave, complete with skulls, a bad mood and perhaps even the faintest hint of a dirge in the background. Alexis paid such trivialities no mind, he had seen them all before and worse. As fortune would have it, the two others that had been mentioned in the letter arrived before he; so Alexis needn’t have to wait on his lonesome. He hated being alone, after all.

A smile spread broadly on his lips as Alexis greeted them with a casual wave, “So us three fools are here? Where is our oh so subtle manipulator?”

[OOC: Apologies for the late reply, the past couple of days haven't been that great for me.]

With the three adventurers all ready and set, the only thing missing now was for their leader to arrive and instruct them as to what exactly the task in hand was. Not that long after the last of Alexis' words had left his lips, the trio would hear the sound of the wooden door to the entrance to the cave being carefully opened, followed shortly by footsteps towards them.

Turning around, they would be greeted by a tall figure, who's very appearance was covered by a large black cloak that spread down to his ankles, the front of it being gripped tightly to keep the clothing underneath concealed. A clear sight of his face was blocked by a large hood that shrouded the inside in darkness, which would soon be pulled down as the man underneath looked to reveal himself to the audience. The most noticeable of the features underneath was his dazzling white hair, glimmering as the long strands fell down into the inside of the cloak, tied back to keep it tidy. With pointed ears and bright blue eyes, it was obvious from his youthful and soft appearance that this man was from elvish descent.

He would walk towards through the group, passing all three and stopping a couple of metres ahead of where Lysander was stood, looking directly onwards into the darkness of the path ahead. After a very brief pause, he would turn back to the group and with a quiet and soft voice, he would address them.

"I apologise for my lateness and for that brief second of ignorance towards you, but I had to be sure that my travel here wasn't noted by anyone else."

Clearing his throat, he would reach into his cloak and pull out a rolled-up piece of parchment, unraveling it to display it to the three warriors before him. On sight, it would be clear that this was a letter, one which was no more than a few lines in length but very clear and straightforward in its manner.

Disaster has struck. The Circle have managed to break through our security and take the Staff from the Great Hall. I regret to inform you that we have no idea how they managed to break in, nor how they escaped or where to.

I'm sorry for the lack of information, but we have given you all that we can. We're sure you're aware of their intentions with the Staff, so we will rely on you doing your best to get the item back before the next full moon. If you can't obtain the Staff before then... then God help us.

As his audience would read the letter, the man would continue speaking, using a direct and informing manner to explain the situation at hand.

"Yes, my name is Mathias Belmont. I know who you three are, I've been informed of your skills and that you are appropriate for the job at hand. The staff in question is my own, one that I have held with great honour for many years now and it is being held here."

Once the three had read the letter and were content, Mathias would pull it back and slip it back into his cloak as he moved on to his next point, not giving anyone an opportunity to slip a word in; displaying a clear sense of urgency.

"This cave is a direct underground route to a place called Fort Strata, which used to be a safe-house for the Royals... many, many centuries ago before time ravished it. The Circle seem to be hiding there at the moment. That is our destination."

Licking his lips quickly and clearing his throat again, he would look behind as if distracted by something momentarily, looking back down at the tunnel behind him with a confused look on his face as if something had his attention. Quickly shaking his head and turning back, he would look back at the three before him and continue to speak.

"Sorry. Now, about this cave, it's important that you -"

His sentence was cut short as a loud screeching noise came from directly behind him a large brown creature came leaping out of the darkness and heading straight towards Mathias, hitting him square in the back and taking him down as the momentum carried the creature onwards as it skidded through the group and stopped not a couple of yards away from Zelu. From his position on the floor, the crumpled figure of Mathias would look up quickly and yell.

"TROLL! KILL IT QUICKLY!"

OBJECTIVE: Taller than the average human and certainly larger in build, the troll before the three warriors would stand on its back legs and tower over them as it bellowed. Completely covered in fur and possessing an almost demon-like appearance, its sheer build makes it look absolutely terrifying. Kill the troll before it gets a chance to unleash its destructive physical strength. Bear in mind the weakness of the walls around the cave when using powerful attacks.

So, Zelu was here to collect a staff. Obviously, this treasure seemed to have great magical powers if it was so important to Mathias' and his government. The moogle couldn't honestly admit he was surprised about the matter. Magic was very common on other worlds, and there was always some annoying antagonist group who wanted the ruling kingdom's power. It just seemed to be the way the worlds worked, but Zelu wasn't complaining. This was money.
"Huh?!" The moogle propelled himself backwards with his pack as he saw a blurry brown thing tackle his hirer to the ground. This wasn't good.

The scientist quickly pulled out a colorful object, almost like a toy. It seemed distorted, wrong. But as hands gripped it and turned specific parts, a bright light emitted from each crack. Activated...

Zelu held his arm up to the beast, taking careful aim. His mag-laser was pointed at the Troll's torso. He fired off three shots, distorting the yellow light as the projectiles flew towards the beast. Another two shots were fired, apparently coming from the same direction. But these shots had their appearance separated from their actual being, and the true danger came from the troll's front.

Compressed magnetism was some of the most useful ammunition. Not only can you knock a man off his feet, you can also screw with his electrical impulses...

Hopefully, it would all work out like that.
