Surprise Arrival [Shinn/ permission]

And so...Kairi found herself in Traverse Town...alone.

Suddenly.

The cranberry-haired girl stumbled onto the cobblestone streets out of nowhere. One moment she was walking in sand, the next she was a place she'd never physically been before. Her heart had though.

Crystal blue eyes blinked and quickly took in the area all around here. No one was here. How had she gotten here then? nibbling her bottom lip, she started to walk, unnerved by her seemingly pointless, unexplained abduction.

How was she going to get back? She had no gummi ship, and Cid was no longer here to make her one. Kairi was trapped here. It started to feel ominous.

"Anyone here?" she called, keeping her eyes open for movements. This was strange...very strange.

Separated from Sora AGAIN! Please, please don't let this be a situation that I need saving from! Not again...

Kairi would soon realize that there was no human to be found living at Traverse Town. Most of the survivors had returned to their worlds after the courageous feats of Sora and co. With their worlds replenished Traverse Town was more or less a ghost town. But that doesn't mean that there isn't any life still lingering there. But for the sake of the Princess of Heart, it would have been better for her to be the only living ting there.

Kairis prayers would also be left unanswered, for as soon as she was praying that her situation wouldn't get worse it did. And it would only get worse by the minute.

Four Soldier Heartless soon appeared from their dark portals each one at a different corner trapping the young girl in a square prison. They could tell from the purity of her heart that she was indeed a Princess of Heart. This made then yearn to take her heart from her more than anyone else they had encountered before. Slowly the four Heartless began creeping closer and closer towards her.

For Kairi, all hope seemed lost.

Once seeing the Soldier Heartless, she found herself groaning. Really..was she zapped here magically just for heartless to attack her? Part of her was smirking at how unimaginative, though she quickly pushed the thought away with hopes that it wouldn't get any worse than this. Her flowery keyblade appeared in her hand with a puff of glitter and light.

No way she'd go quietly now that she could fight for herself! She was an endless fountain of hope, so in no way did it seem lost. Holding it in one hand, she took her stance, trying to come up with a decent plan. She had to admit. The lack of living people here was unnerving. The isolation.

Not wanting to wait for the four to converge on her at the same time, she decided that rushing the one behind her might give her enough time to do away with it before the others could get to her. She ran at it, extending her arm to perform a horizontal slash, though keeping very wary, ready to use her light.

The girl proved to not be your average 'damsel in distress' due to the fact that she was carrying a weapon and actually wasn't in much distress. Although the second she revealed her Keyblade it triggered something deep inside the Heartless that could only be triggered by the Keyblade. They soon began to dance wildly in a crazed frenzy. One of the Soldier Heartless would be struck by the girls Keyblade but would not be killed right on the spot. Instead it was whacked off to the side before getting back up. The other three would take this time to not think but instead just act. The Heartless in front of her who was now behind her crouched on the ground before springing forward with its metallic claws pointed straight at her. The other two continued to move around like maniacs.

The Heartless that was hit before also sprung forward with its claws out ready to rip her heart out from her body.

Kairi was by no means to be considered an expert in fighting. Sure, her keyblade helped just as it had Sora in the beginning...but she was at just that. The beginning. With the Nobody fight concluded, she'd "hung up" her keyblade and hadn't needed to use it since. Now she wished she'd trained with it or something.

Unnerved still by the other two dancing around like crazy, she managed to keep her mind on the two coming at her. As they got near, she held her weapon out in front of her and spun in a circle to try and deflect them both.

The Heartless in front of her was quickly vanquished due to the damage it had taken before. It vanished into thin air leaving behind a single heart which floated away into the sky before disappearing. The other Heartless was knocked backwards and fell head first onto the floor.

The two Heartless that were busy dancing around were now on the move. As soon as she was done spinning around with her Keyblade they rushed in to attack her. Instead of just jumping in like the other two had tried to do, these Heartless just ran over towards her and began to swing heir arms around trying to do as much damage as they could.

Once she recovered from the spin, she caught her footing and quickly eyed the two, with a little bit of an overwhelmed expression. Hard tension was beginning to show on her face. It was only FOUR Soldier Heartless! It shouldn't be this hard to defeat them and get away. She'd seen Sora fight more early on, why was the case different for her? There's no way it could be. She could keep up with the boys! Kairi had to!

Gritting her teeth, Kairi's brows pulled down and adrenaline pumped through her whole body, putting all her muscles on alert. Her sympathetic nervous system was working overtime. Twisting on her axis, she swung downward onto one of the heartless, though the other managed to get a good few swipes at her back. Jumping out of the way, she felt her hairs stand on end. Air moving past her back made a painful chilled sensation. Flesh had been ripped, and blood was present. Kairi couldn't help but wince.

She refused to wish for a hero to save her.

The Princess of Heart's body began to glow bright with light as she brought a balled fist to her chest, closing her eyes in concentration for a moment. The glow spread to her whole body and her keyblade, then shot off in white petals to orbit her in a defensive field, close enough to her to protect attacks from directly touching her, though some damage would still be dealt. Love would protect her..at least for a little while.

Her determination to save herself paid off, the dormant strength in her heart was soon released, and her strength as well as her Keyblades strength increased. Her downward swing destroyed the Soldier Heartless in one strike. As the darkness was obliterated, a heart escaped from the darkness that created the Heartless and floated away vanishing as it reached the sky.

One of the Heartless managed to land a few strikes but was unsuccessful in capturing Kairis' heart. Its claws were stained with her blood, but this wasn't enough for the Heartless. It wanted one thing and one thing only. It, along with the other Heartless marched forward to try and finish Kairi off once and for all.

With her defenses raised, Kairi backed up and tried to formulate the best way to handle all of these enemies at once. Her back was hurting. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't a little frightened, but she had no room to play the damsel in distress part. That would get her no where other than missing a heart. She didn't plan on ever losing that again.

The princess wanted to ask what the things wanted, but she knew they couldn't answer here. No mind of their own, so to speak. Seeing no other option, she asked herself what Sora would do, then jumped into the fray swinging as hard and as quickly as possible.

The instant Kairi jumped to attack, the two Heartless did as well. The first Heartless wasn't fast enough and was quickly vanquished, vanishing in a mist of darkness while leaving a stray heart behind. The second Heartless claws met with Kairis Keyblade causing them both to bounce backwards from the force of each others swing.

As the Heartless slid backwards it was vulnerable for attack for just a brief moment but would soon recover and rush for the princess once more. It wanted that heart more than anything else, the fact that it was now on its own meant nothing to the Soldier Heartless. It just kept thinking about taking her heart and destroying the light that resided within it.

"You can't have it!" she grumbled under her breath with some effort, taking a moment to right her balance. She wasn't used to skidding backwards on stone path from force. It was a wonder she hadn't fallen backwards, but ti was fortunate that she had not. The heartless would have surely taken the advantage to take her heart away.

The mindless creature was coming right at her again, but now she wasn't too worried. It was only one, and it was a frontal attack. Kairi's feet took her once more right at the monster, and upon nearing she slashed horizontally as hard as she could, doing her best to avoid the claws and hit the body.

The Soldier Heartless stretched its arms out forward preparing to dig its sharp metallic claws into Kairis chest and rip out her heart. But the Keyblade had a longer reach and in one swing the Heartless was no more. Kairi would pass through a vanishing cloud of darkness after her forward horizontal swing.

The last Soldier Heartless was vanquished. Kairi could now take a take a breath of relief knowing that the madness over.That is until another group of Heartless appeared not even two seconds after the previous group were all destroyed. This group was bigger though, not only in size but in Heartless type.

There were three Shadow Heartless, one Large Body, two Air Soldiers, two Red Nocturne, and two Yellow Operas.

They were all spread out in various places. The Shadow Heartless were the closest to her, the Large Body was about four yards behind her, Air Soldiers were above her and flying around in a circle. The Red Nocturne and Yellow operas were in random spots and just floating up and down. The Heartless all looked over at Kairi. None of them attack...yet.

Kairi, breathing hard, groaned softly. She didn't want to admit it, but she needed help. And..there was no way for her to get any. no one was around. There was no way to contact any of her friends...she was in trouble. Now she knew what Sora felt like in the beginning. Overwhelmed. A little..scared.

The Princess stood there, still in stance as she eyed all the enemies. Could she out run them? Could she find a place to hide? Why were they just..watching her?

Was this really it for her?

The Heartless stared at her for a little while longer before they made their move. First to go were the Shadow Heartless who sunk into the ground and crept over to her direction. The Large Body wobbled over to Kairis direction while the others hovered around her in a circular motion.

The Shadow Heartless popped out from the ground beneath her with their black claws aimed directly at her chest. It was then a beam of light shot down in front of her and destroyed the three Heartless instantly. Then three black feather looking mechanical fins flew around Kairi each pointing towards the air borne Heartless. They began to fire thin beams of black energy at the Heartless destroying them one by one. The only one left was the Large Body who had been hit a few times in the chest but didn't receive any damage from it. It suddenly began to glow a blue and purple aura which surrounded its body. Then it raced towards Kairi at full speed leaving a trail of energy behind it. But the only thing that would hit her was a gust of wind and tiny bits of remnant darkness.

Standing in front of her now was a man holding a sword in one hand and a gun in the other. The black fins flew to him and gathered on his shoulder creating a small black wing. He looked down at Kairi with a cold expressionless face. His dark brown eyes examined the girl up and down before locking on to her Keyblade.

Finally he spoke, "Get up." Before turning his back on her and began walking over to the door which led to the First District. It appeared as though he wanted her to follow him even if he gave no intention of this. Kairi could stay there and wait for the Heartless to reappear again or follow this guy.

At some point Kairi's eyes had closed against her will, no doubt to brace for the impact she was sure was coming her way. Maybe a cowardly thing to do, but there had been no thought in it. She was overwhelmed and alone, tired and wounded. Surrounded by things who wanted her heart, and she started to consider that they might get it. Again. The Princess was definitely not looking forward to losing it again, and Sora was no where near to receive and protect it this time. No one was...

Or was there?

The pain never game, only some odd sounds and a gust of wind. Moments later, a voice followed that caused the girl to start and blink open her eyes to stare at the back of a man. She thoughtlessly obeyed, following him whether he wanted her to or not. Not for protection, mind you. More for her curiosity that had been immediately sparked. Who was he? Where did he come from? Why did he help? Catching up, she peeked around him to peer into his face and smile gratefully.

"...Who are you?"
