[No one wanted to take the chance and get flung into a pile of Heartless, no fun, no fun... >_< Anywho...]
With Sephiroth building up energy for a rather spectacular attack, Mardiax proceeded to fight Heartless to keep him safe. But it appeared Mardiax was getting tired from all his fancy moves. Five more Heartless appeared, and attacked him. He'd managed to disperse them all, but not before he got clawed by three of them. Five more appeared behind Sephiroth, and attacked him as well, and since he was wide open, he took a couple of hits, though they didn't seem to affect the ex SOLDIER very much. But repeated attacks would eventually wear him down. So what would the two do?
Reaction Time!
[Four choices:] --- 1) Give up (end of quest) --- 2) Make a run for it to the Great Maw (80% chance of being hurt) --- 3) continue to fight the way you are --- 4) Sephiroth quits building up energy and fights normally

3) is chosen.
The attacks of the Heartless behind Sephiroth annoyed him somewhat. They were almost so light that he laughed, but instead Sephiroth concentrated on the area surrounding Mardiax and himself. "Cover yourself." In earsplitting screeches the ten meteorites he'd called down into this world neared them, then struck the ground. Each led so that it collided with a Heartless around them, exploding on impact.
All around the two was a flaring heat, smoldering, and cracking the ground. When the scene quieted ten craters surrounded them, smoke was still lifting, and so they would have to wait for the next course of action to appear. Masamune came up to guard and Sephiroth readied himself.

Mardiax winced from the slices at his back, tearing through his shirt and leaving scratches on top of his back. He retaliated with spinning around and slicing all the heartless around him in two pieces, from their torso and lower body, they exploded into black dust. Covering his eyes and squinting from the dust, he looked over to Sephiroth and began to sprint to him, then stopped as the meteorites fell from the sky. Colliding with all the enemies around, he shot a burst of Telekinesis below him to hang on high ground, scythe stabbed into the wall and elevated from the earth below. Craters were created, and extremely large ones.
He may have talked a lot, but he sure had some power stored within him, he'd have to test him some more; but that was another time. Releasing his scythe he span a couple times before landing beside his companion, they were making good progress in his opinion, looking from him, to the path that laid ahead. There was still something strange about that man that actually lead them here, they might want to get some answers from the traitor. Inhaling a deep breath, and exhaling a large one from so much though, he strolled down the path, expecting Sephiroth to follow, but suddenly stopped to look back at him.
"Impressive..."
His eyes locked with the Angel's, maroon orbs acknowledging that he knew who he was with. Turning around once more, he kept walking, though they may have wanted to pick up the pace soon.

They defeated their enemies, and made it inside the bailey. Heck they even made it to the Great Maw. Then the guy that told them where to go showed up again. He ran up to Mardiax, and handed him a flashdrive.
"Leon says to use this to gain entry into the computer." The guy then started to run away, but was attacked by a data copy of Hook. And instead of getting away safely, the guy was impaled. Shows the two "heroes" he was evil. The Hook copy then turned to them, and made a screeching noise. Twenty more data copies of various villains showed up. They then all melded together to make a data version of the Twilight Thorn.
Oh boy, that was new. Did I mention it grabbed Mardiax by the legs and threw him? Mardiax would land just outside the entrance to the next key area. However, the way was then sealed off by some unseen force.
Mini boss!
[Sephiroth has to fight this boss alone. Lose, and Mardiax can still come through, if he can make it to the computer. Win and you two go on your merry way.]
>D
The Twilight Thorn sent thorn like beams at Sephiroth, totalling fifteen.

The sudden appearance by their towns man friend raised Sephiroth's interest again, until he was run through by Captain Hook. Bugger for him, what did he think he was doing running around like a fool?
"Mardiax let's double our pace, these-" Before Sephiroth could finish, the enemies merged into one, a Twilight Thorn at end. Without warning Mardiax was seized and thrown, too quickly for either of them to honestly react. Sephiroth believed Mardiax was a tough fellow, that little move wouldn't bother him that much.
The Twilight Thorn turned to him and attacked. Beam after beam headed Sephiroth's way, to which he was not even impressed at the speed of the successive actions. "You're new to this idea of battle aren't you? Attack me directly," Sephiroth laughed, using Invincibility and rendering the beams useless. True he could not move, but he didn't need to. "and leave yourself wide open."
By the time the smoke lifted from the beam explosions, the white and black puffs around Sephiroth were long gone. A white outline surrounded the Twilight Thorn, puffs appeared and disappeared. All at once the area around it was filled in darkness, an appropriately large explosion ensued with the Twilight Thorn enveloped in the epic-center of light. The entire attack would cripple the mini boss if not finish it off altogether. Sephiroth doubted the thing could manage to dodge, it's size gave it no advantage in this town setting, not to mention the instantaneous nature of his attack.

Mardiax flew into mid-air, flailing around like a rag-doll from the force he was thrown with. Slamming into the cement, he groaned and slowly stood up, what was this thing's problem? Moving forward, he noticed a force unseen kept him from actually getting out of the area. Standing back, he sent constant blunt forces of telekinesis against the invisible walls, but in vain. Sighing, he looked up to Sephiroth and the new enemy, standing he released his scythe and span it around for amusement.
He also at times sliced at the walls with it with the same effect, nothing. This was rather irritating, he wasn't even able to help his new companion fight an elite, especially when things were just getting good. Maroon orbs stared to his tactics, and smirked at Sephiroth. How simple yet effective, he doesn't need to move at all with his strategies, simply he nullifies the opponents maneuvers and counters with his own attacks there after. But would this enemy be a bit more complex than the other they had fought earlier? Only time would tell it seemed, and Mardiax was the one that had to sit back and spectate.

(You used Shadow Flare on me Sephiroth. What a pity.)
Mardiax wasn't enjoying the being alone part. Especially when Sephiroth was in a fight. Anxious to get things underway, Mardiax tried to break down the barrier, to no avail. So he watched as the fight continued.
Meanwhile Sephiroth avoided damage by becoming temporarily invincible. He used Shadow Flare to attack since he couldn't move, and it seemed to have done its job. But, that'd be making things too easy. More data Nobodies appeared, ten in all. They took on the form of Creepers, and attacked Sephiroth one right after the other. Meanwhile the data copies that made up the Twilight Thorn floated overhead, and reformed. It flew around, and stretched out. When it landed, it swung its arms from side to side, knocking Sephiroth into the air. It then sent more thorns at Sephiroth, or which three hit him. It then rose back up into the standing position. Then suddenly it spoke.
"Y0u c@nn0t w!n. ! @m uns#0pp@ble." Its speech was distorted and glitchy, so it was hard to understand. (I believe you get the gist of this though)
It then glew black. It released the energy, and in a flash of light, sent millions of small data like pieces of matter at Sephiroth. He was then covered in them. However, all the enemies were now gone, and the barrier diminished. Sephiroth would clean these bits off of himself, but miss three of them. Mardiax wouldn't notice the three straglers either.
(Straight shot to the construction zone, or castle...)

The Creepers that came at Sephiroth were a clever ruse, he would admit that. They were hardly what anyone should call battle capable. He laughed and parried their attacks, two, three, sometimes four at a time. When he realized what the Twilight Thorn had done, he wondered if bothering to block its attack was worth it.
Sephiroth grimaced at the three beams that got through, not that they hurt, but more he let his concentration down for such weak attacks. He was ready to attack again when the Twilight Thorn began to speak. How odd. When it grew black Sephiroth readied his guard, which turned to be a wise move as it all at once flew at him in little bits.
"That was it?...." Sephiroth was puzzled. This was it? He turned his head to where Mardiax was. "Mardiax, it looks like we can proceed. Be wary...I'm not liking how this is progressing. Why does the enemy attack us in renewed fashion each time? How can they change their form so easily....and the voice interference there, that had to be it. This enemy, remember what the towns man said, use this drive to access the computer?" Sephiroth walked over and looked towards the castle.
"Our enemy is toying with us because they don't fear whatever we can do. I'm guessing the castle is our best bet to find them. Ready? Let's go." And with that Sephiroth headed off to the castle, Masamune in hand.

Mardiax arched a brow, the entire barrier that kept him seemed to break like glass, floating into the air and vanishing from his sight. The man gazed around him with his maroon orbs, trying to find some kind of hidden enemy. But in vain, none were around; they retreated to another area, charming. Bursting Telekinetic energy onto the ground, it propelled him into the air and he landed beside Sephiroth. Taking in his words, he nodded slowly beginning to walk behind the companion of his.
"Perhaps we should give them a new strategy, instead of just rushing in and destroying them. Let's toy with their own minds, if they have any. If they come and attack us, we should constantly run at each other and switch enemies. This would mean their tactics of combat must be switched time and time again, and would also catch them off guard. An enemy with the element of the surprise always has the upper hand."
He explained this in soothing words, his voice not faltering with a strong dialect, almost seeming like it drifted into the wind. He'd get them this time, he was sure of it.

(I'm not going to make this easy you know...) All three of those digi specs on Sephiroth held multiple functions, but the one that was important now was the fact that they were brodcasting the duo's location every second, as well as everything that was being said. So whatever was waiting for them was ready. They got to the entrance of the building that hid the computer that was their objective, but were cut off by a Digital Version of Sephiroth. It swung its weapon at Sephiroth twice, causing him to jump back out of harm's way. The moment he did, he was cut off from Mardiax by another invisible shield.
Mini Boss! The data copy then turned to Mardiax and spoke, in almost the exact same voice Sephiroth himself held. "Show me your true strength. Show me that darkness of yours." It readied its weapon, and slashed fifteen times at Mardiax. Keep in mind though that it was able to go to defense with a simple flick of the wrist. (Keep in mind as well that this data copy has all of Sephiroth's abilities. I mean the version here on FM, not the Kingdom Hearts version. They are slightly weaker yes, but I believe they should still be damaging enough.)

When they reached the castle Sephiroth looked about. Not a moment later he dodged two very well planned sword strikes, though that he dodged them as easily as he did told enough about their quality. Or maybe what he saw bothered him.
When a shield of some sort raised itself between his partner and Sephiroth's current location, there was reason to be worried. Mardiax was powerful and capable, but did Mardiax have what it took to handle a copy of himself? It wasn't quite true however, that Sephiroth was foremost concerned with Mardiax, that a copy of himself had appeared was most intriguing. Was a computer doing all of this? What were the extents of its reach throughout this world, and much more importantly, how powerful was it itself?
Sephiroth watched quietly. If he could concentrate during this rest, perhaps the answers would come to him.

Mardiax ached a brow to the copy, this was a bit strange. The fifteen lashes of steel came at him swiftly though before he could comment, raising his scythe and blocking about three with the base of it. Pressing his hand to the floor and sending wave of strong telekinetic force to it so he sky rocketed into the air, landing a couple feet behind him. Extending his arms he calmed as he charged for a powerful attack.
Eyes shot open as he clasped his palms collided, making a horizontal wave of pure telekinesis, using the power to slice through hard materials. Death was inevitable if this made contact, concentrated the whole time, Mardiax span his scythe in complete circles and held it out in front of himself just in case the offensive ability failed. Ready for the copy's maneuvers and skills, he seemed to have the same traits as his companion, good thing he has already seen a few of his abilities. Maroon orbs scanning his every movement, ready for any kind of counter-attack.

Several of the attacks hit Mardiax. Mardiax then proceeded to fly into the air, and landed behind the fake. He then charged up and sent a blast of telekenetic power at the clone. But before he was hit, he or rather it, vanished. It reappeared behind Mardiax instantaneously. He then swung his blade again. Then it clenched its hand, and black and white gas seemed to rise around it. Then in a flash of light, there was an explosion. Mardiax had just been hit by a point blank Shadow Flare. The fake Sephiroth appeared ten feet away.
"That all you got?"

Mardiax's senses top notch and aware of the situation as his opponent vanished, smirked as both hands went behind him right as the gas was smelt. Firing pulses of Telekinesis and shoot himself forward far from the explosion, he span around on the ground a bit before stopping on his feet. Brushing a couple of lint off himself, he turned to the fake and grinned.
"Your maneuvers of fighting are overrated, attacking from behind is just what I calculated. You could have done much better, but then again...You are just a copy."
Mardiax had no real powerful abilities in his arsenal, he mainly had strategy laid into his mind. Charging forward he threw his scythe at the man, and if he vanished once again. He'd find that the Scythe had actually just been a distraction, His right hand behind himself firing a huge blunt force of energy. And if this maneuver failed and he tried to come from above, his other palm fired a huge amount of force above his head. It was hard to out-smart this man, for all he was built around, was the power of the mind.

"Ho...impressive. He's getting lucky though." Sephiroth smiled nonetheless. It was amusing watching himself, or however close something else could come to it.
One thing did bother him, how would Mardiax fare when both of them fought without restraint? As it was, this fight was an exchange of rock throwing.
