Though a devious pilot, Issac's expert piloting seemed to have not only hit the first canon ship, but totally obliterate it. Two of the laser-white shots went straight down the cannon, the enemy ship having no chance to escape. Fragments went everywhere.
[+1 HP point to all Team Members: Enemy vessel destroyed]
Shadow, on the other hand, couldn't even land a shot on his attacker. The pilot easily avoided the red spheres, but the dangerous canon ship zoomed towards him...
And went straight past.
The canon ship disappeared through a portal, and the rest of the vessels followed foot, seeming to magically avoid any other shots the team took at them. The portal enlarged with each passage, and after all were gone, it still grew.
The portal was easily ten feet in diameter by now.

"O... K..."
Under the name of Captain Kristoph Issac had spent a lot more time flying in the Sea of Stars than most people did, even common world-travelers. Still... he'd never seen anything like that.
"Does anybody else want to get on our way before anythin' starts to come in this direction through that thing?" he asked over the com.

Shadow avoided being hit by the red orbs but didn't land a hit on the enemy ship which was understandable since he was only aiming for the red orbs. The enemy ship flew past him and disappeared behind him in a portal along with the other ships following right behind it.
Now Shadow would have just ignored this and keep on the direction he needed to go, but the other pilots might have been thinking the total opposite. He turned his communicator back on to hear what the other pilots would say about this turn of events.
"Lets just go. I don't have time to go snooping around unknown portals right now." Shadow remarked.

Jude was quiet now, merely watching the events after the wires were repaired. He looked from ship to ship, then to the portal which was growing. He moved forward a bit, just in case the thing had some sucking power or gravitational pull.
"You think it's..boss time? Maybe those little ones were just to gage our strength..." he mused aloud over the com, rubbing his chin. The cybernetic being was curious, though. "..What do you think is on the other side?"
Part of him wanted to run with the others before the big baddie he anticipated would come through showed up, but the other part wanted to fly into it and see. Maybe that's what they were supposed to do?

Lysander managed to right the ship, making sure that there was no immediate threat before he decided to respond to any of his allies. His dexterous fingers and complimentary telekinesis in awkward situations made for a quick recovery, but his frustration with Captain Kristoph did not make such a hastened betterment. A frown alighted upon his lips, realizing that if he were to respond to the man's spiteful self-preservation verbally he'd be made a fool. So instead he made a decision.
Lysander heard the talk of a portal and avoiding it. But somehow the avoiding it part never quite clicked. With skill maneuvering, the ship arced to hover just within range of the portal. "Wait up." Was all he said to his companions.
For a few minutes Lysander simply observed and examined the swirling window before him. "Hmm..." Suddenly he pulled on his trigger several times sending a few successive shots at the portal. Scientifically, it made sense to shoot at it. If you wanted to see how something reacted, give it energy and stress.

[Quest will get epic now. Well, next post, but whatever.]
As much as the two experienced pilots would've liked to leave, another force had other plans. From the portal, a wall of blue shot out from the edges, curving around the pilots as a whole. A sphere about half-a-mile in diameter was formed; it looked relatively small when compared with the vastness of space.
The portal suddenly stopped growing. It had already dwarfed the other pilots by a massive amount. They were no more then ants compared to the massive hole in space. However, it wasn't the ominous portal that mattered, rather the monster that came out of it...
A large, strange enemy emerged from the ship. Jude had been right. It was "boss time." Only the head was emerged now, the countless number of eyes staring at the pilots.
Opening it's huge mouth, the monster let out a roar.
Time to fight. Hope you're ready.
♦ Fight the mysterious enemy!

Shadow had a feeling something like that was going to happen. Good thing they didn't immediately go inside the portal in the first place or they would have flown straight for the monsters mouth.
But there wasn't any time to tell the others that now, there was a huge monster right in front of them. Shadow did what he thought was the only thing he should do. Fire until there's nothing left. Shadow wasted no time right s the monster showed its ugly head. The instant it let out that roar was when Shadow fired continuously at the big head aiming directly at it's mouth. Then he steered the Gummi Ship upwards and continued to fire all the way up until it began to hit the numerous eyes.

"This is exactly what I was talking about. Giant monsters coming out of nowhere is for normal seas. In this one you ought to be able to see them coming."
Seeing that he was trapped Isaac didn't feel particularly optimistic about this. If he was going to die in a blaze of glory that was all well and good, but at least one of these lot would need to survive to tell his tale. Oh, and he'd have to remember to tell them his 'real' name before going to Davey Jones' Locker.
Actually he probably wouldn't make it to the good Captain Jones' locker from this distance. With a shake of this head Kris put his ship in reverse and backed up closer to the wall farthest from the giant monster head. He took no shots yet but waited for an opportunity to act.

"..Ugh! What IS that thing??" Jude nearly yelped into the communicator, eyes wide and trained on the larger-than-life monster of space. Finally looking over to where he imagined the other friendly ship would be, he saw no one. The other one had backed up! Strength in numbers... Jude backed up as well to join his teammate, taking no shots. He doubted anything his ship had could do much damage to something that big. It'd probably only feel the tiniest prickle...maybe a splinter-like pain.
Ready to speak again, he grinned wryly. "This is like the boss of a bad videogame...or maybe a good one. but definitely bad for us. Any ideas?"
The techie looked all round his ship for any advanced weapons or something to give him an idea for a method of attack good enough to fell a ginormous space monster. A million-eyed space..whale?
