As you are heading out the door of your house, a small glimmer of light catches your eye. You turn around and see a mirror, putting you face to face with your reflection.

Physical appearance ~ : Scruffy stands roughly six feet and three inches tall. He has a rather slim, but still well muscled build, and a fair tan complexion. His hair is jet black, cut to about an inch in length and styled in a slightly spiky pattern. His eyes are in contrast, ice blue and extremely cold, almost able to pierce the soul by simply looking at someone.

Clothing/Accessories ~ : As for his clothing, his usual attire consists of a black t-shirt, loose black pants with a wide assortment of pockets, black socks, and black shoes. Over this he usually wears a large black overcoat, also having a wide variety of pockets, under which is an overly large arsenal of weapons. On his hands he wears black leather gloves, and on his face he wears a pair of black sunglasses. Probably the only other feature of note is the strange earpiece he wears in his right ear and a strange titanium chain necklace he wears around his neck, usually tucked into his shirt so that the strange symbol on it isn't visible.

Behavior ~ : Cold, and cunning, Scruffy is always thinking up a plan. Being cold, he prefers not to keep many friends, or for that matter allies. He is of course always interested in new technology or gadgetry, always highly enjoying new weapons, which would be one reason why he carries such a large arsenal. Other than this, much about his personality is unknown, highly due to the fact that he indeed doesn't have many friends or allies. In battle he is known to be ruthless, and he will go all out to make sure his opponent is defeated. However, not many who have fought him have actually survived, so again this information is still highly unknown.

Deus Ex Machina-

A large longsword, roughly five feet in length that is sheathed on Upsilon's back in such a way that it's under his overcoat actually sheathed on his back so he can remove the overcoat without removing the sword, simply keeping the hilt of it above the coat. It is about six inches in breadth and an inch thick with an incredibly sharp blade. It is made entirely of titanium with red lines spreading across it's surface, almost appears to be a bit like a machine of some sort.

Unique Notes: He can cause the sword's sections to extend along the lines, transforming it from a longsword to a slightly jagged buster sword.

A pair of large guns made of titanium. Scruffy usually carries this pair of enhanced Uzis at his sides at all times. Said Uzis fire small bullets of energy or magic, allowing him to adapt to situations in which magic or energy are ineffective.

A pair of shimmering titanium handguns which Scruffy carries below his Uzis. They appear to be heavily upgraded and advanced Desert Eagles. They fire rounds of energy or magic like the Uzis, allowing them to be adapted for different situations.

Blade Fans-

A pair of Japanese style fans made of titanium Scruffy keeps holstered with one on each side of his waist. They are easily strong enough to block the like of swords and their edges are extremely sharp while the fans themselves are very light weight, making them good as both defensive and offensive weapons. In an alternate method of use, they can also be used as boomerangs.

Flachette Shotgun: Enhanced Version Beta-

A special shotgun designed using titanium. Aside from it's shots being magic or energy based, it has been specially designed to create an especially wide burst pattern for increased damage. Of course, Scruffy also decided to keep the stereotype of most shotguns and have it pump action rather than semi-automatic or automatic, also unlike his other guns which he usually wields in pairs, he wields this shotgun alone.

Arrow Shot Gloves-

A set of large purple gloves shaped like cat paws. Said gloves have extremely sharp, one inch titanium claws which can be used for climbing, or alternatively fighting, and they themselves are made of flexible and lightweight titanium fibers for protection. Said gloves are also equipped with a special device on the top of each which allows them to fire arrows of energy or magic at the same speed as arrows fired from a longbow, both of which are built into the glove itself as not to hamper movement or combat.

Unique Notes: Have unlimited ammo, and can fire energy or magic arrows depending on their setting.


Genji Design: Tri-tipped Shuriken Armlets-

A pair of round, black and white titanium armlets that go from the wrist to just below the elbow. Scruffy can use said armlets to form a round, shell-like encasement around the top each of his hands which are adorned with tri-tipped titanium shuriken, the blades of which are about two and a half feet long each. The side blades can be angled either up to make a cluster formation, or down to make a triangle formation. He mostly uses these for physical combat though they can also be fired as projectiles.

Unique Notes: Scruffy can create as many replacement shuriken as he needs.

Miscellaneous Items

Uplink Earpiece-

A strange earpiece worn in Scruffy's right ear, it resembles a headset and allows him to communicate with the central computer on his space station and wirelessly hack into an communications system in range, I.E. cellphones, intercoms, speaker systems, etc. It also allows him to swap out his carried arsenal with weapons and items from his station arsenal by contacting Carthage, making it a key device in adapting to many new situations. When transferred, the weapons or items are surrounded by a burst of light,which runs down them, virtualizing them as it goes. Similarly, when an item is materialized it forms in the shape of the weapon or item itself as a virtual wire frame before a burst of light runs down them, materializing them as it does so.

Varia Function Shades-

Some would think the sunglasses Scruffy wears are just that, sunglasses, but these shades are far from ordinary. Scruffy can sync said sunglasses with his space station's central computer to download information which is then displayed on the lenses. Some examples of this information would be GPS tracking, topographical maps and weather conditions, thermal and night vision, and a telescopic vision function. In addition it can be used to display various other information such as world information and can be used to better target opponents for ranged fighting, especially with guns, using advanced programming.

Advanced Materialization Program: Outfit Change-

A program designed by Scruffy for the purpose of quite simply changing his outfit to just about any outfit he either owns or has on record on Carthage, even if he's only seen it before, and it will automatically dematerializes the least needed, predetermined, or most logical weapons to make the outfit look more natural and form fitting. He mostly uses this program to materialize a sleek, extraordinarily well made black suit and tie. So sharp you could cut yourself man.

All of Scruffy's gloves are equipped with special built in devices made with highly advanced programming that allow them to open holographic control panel displays which can be used to aid him in manual hacking and more complex functions.

Holographic Crow Flock-

Another strange program designed by Scruffy. Using it he can cause a flock of holographic black crows to appear on the ground or in the air. Even in trees! Feathers can even fall from them. They have an advanced AI, meaning they'll act just like real crows too. They look exactly like real crows down to the finest detail, and the fact that they're holograms couldn't be found just by looking at them even by an expert bird watcher. He can basically control how they act and where they position themselves with thought as well if he wishes to, though he usually doesn't. He mainly uses this program to make dramatic entrances by forming a flock of crows and then walking into them, causing them to fly into the air and drop several feathers. He has also used it to cure his boredom however.

The Past

53 years in the past, the world of Risokyo, a world of desert wasteland covered in small plants and shrubs with occasional trees and Savannah, a world of technological advancements and interplanetary trade, lies in the beginning of an economic boom. Businesses are sprouting, cities are being built, and trade is increasing every day by an astounding degree. Risokyo's economy is the best it's been in over a century and everyone is enjoying a time of prosperity while poverty steadily declines.

During this time period, a certain scientist was in the height of his research. He was revered by everyone in Risokyo as one of their greatest minds and he was indeed one of the smartest scientists on the entire planet. He had made many advances in technology and he was regarded as having some of the most intricate and complicated devices and inventions anyone had ever seen, some even seeming to go beyond what technological know-how was known on Risokyo.

However, despite all of this external fame, this scientist was hardly ever seen in public and cared to reside in solitude to carry out his research undisturbed. He lived in many places during this time, moving randomly to avoid the paparazzi and companies who wished to hire him to preform research for them so they could gain an advantage over the rest. His whereabouts literally remained hidden for some years, the scientist simply carrying out his research and usually not traveling into the cities except for supplies and electronics and metal.

Eventually, he revealed the project he'd been working on for some years in addition to all of his other research. It was his main focus, and a project of great difficulty to finish, even for this great scientist. It was a gigantic space station, enormous in size that served as a personal laboratory for him, as well as being a mobile ship. He set it into orbit around Risokyo shortly after it's completion after moving his research into it and thus, it functioned as his home in addition to his lab. He received supplies via massive teleportation bays in the lower portions of the ship, able to receive large shipments such as titanium all at one time, also enabling him to cut his visits to the planet significantly.

Aboard this space station, as his piece de resistance, he also constructed an incredible supercomputer, the likes of which had never been seen on Risokyo. It was one of the most complex devices ever created on the world and the scientist spent more time constructing said computer than he did the station itself. It was incredibly powerful and it's value in research was astounding, even if only those who understood it could actually use it, and understanding a machine of that complexity was indeed a feat in itself. He named this computer, Carthage.

Despite his research now being unimpeded, after roughly twenty years this scientist, now being over seventy years old, was also looking for a way to make sure his research continued after his death. He knew of no one he could trust, not even his close friends that could carry on his research without selling out his inventions for a quick profit or for that matter even understand his research enough to successfully continue it. He was thus left with only one option, and this option would be indeed a difficult one to complete.

Said option was to, in lack of having someone he knew he could trust to continue his research, use his skill with science to create a clone of himself. He wished however, for this clone to be it's own person, not a carbon copy of the original. He thus used his own DNA to genetically engineer a clone, a process which, even using Carthage took a year to accomplish due to the sheer intricacy of his plans. It was indeed a daunting project to undertake, and an even more difficult one to complete.

He gave this clone initially, a small bit of knowledge of his field of science so he would have a natural affinity for it, and in addition downloaded all of his knowledge of his field of science and his research into a special file in Carthage that could be accessed when the clone was released from it's stasis tube to further it's knowledge of the field. He made it specifically so that said clone wouldn't be released from his stasis tube until he reached an age of about twenty one years old or so, to ensure it could fend for itself by that time.

By the time a year passed and he finally completed and initialized the project, by which time the scientist's health was rapidly deteriorating. Shortly thereafter, roughly a month or so, he died. Carthage initiated a program the scientist had left in the case of his death and ejected his body into space before destroying it. Thus the supercomputer went into a state of idling and went into a low power mode, the stasis pod of the clone keeping it stable as the station continued to orbit Risokyo.

Said scientist's field was no ordinary science. He was an expert in magiscience, the fusion of magic in technology, enabling it to preform incredible results. It was however, an extremely complicated and difficult field of science and it was one that only this scientist practiced on Risokyo, making his inventions truly one of a kind creations. In his death however, he had the assurance his research would continue with his clone. Said scientist's name was Xana, and he was until now the last known magiscientist to ever live.

The Distant Past[/u]

18 years in the past. It has been one year since Xana's death and the station is still in orbit around the planet, however an unforeseen event is about to occur that will change Xana's initial plans heavily. A meteor shower headed towards Risokyo would normally be a simple event with not much excitement besides the large number of stargazers wanting to catch a glimpse, however, a number of these meteors were on a direct collision course with the space station.

However, Xana had foreseen such events and had thus constructed an amazingly powerful force field which surrounded the station. It would easily protect the station from the meteor shower and cause virtually no damage to it as it was one of the few things that power was kept to after his death. However, as the meteor shower approached and finally occurred, another unforeseen event occurred. Several of the meteors collided with the station, but one hit it at an odd angle, even though the force field absorbed the damage, the impact shifted the station's orbit.

Resulting from this, the station started on a plummeting course towards Risokyo. As it hurtled towards the planet it steadily built up speed, the force field still holding strong even as the heat built up around it until it finally collided with the ground, resulting in a tremendous explosion. It landed some five miles outside of a large town, some of the denizens being awoken by the explosion. In the morning a group was organized of some of the townspeople to go see what exactly had caused the explosion.

Said party proceeded out in the direction of the explosion, and eventually reached the smoldering crater where the space station now rested. Oddly enough, damage was minimal due to the shield taking the brunt of the impact though the side that hit was heavily damaged, but barely deeper than the floor past the hull. They proceeded into the crater and went to searching the wreckage but it was treacherous and the entire station was fully locked down except for the hull damage from the collision.

However, within the wreckage one family found something, something very interesting. It appeared that several of the doors were open for some reason, and upon following the path into the interior of the station they came across something even more interesting. It was a small boy, possibly not older than a year near a strange device of some sort. How he'd gotten there was anyone's guess but the family graciously adopted him. Oddly enough, on their way out the doors that had been open that formed the path closed behind them and locked themselves down. Other than this, the search turned up nothing in means of salvage or technology due to the lock down and after the last of them left the station's defenses came online again so it was impossible to approach it, resulting in no one ever attempting to salvage or research it again.

The family raised the boy as their own as Risokyo's economic boom had finally escalated to nearly it's peak. He didn't have many friends growing up but he didn't really seem to care too much about it. Strangely he seemed to have an odd affinity for science and technology, enjoying to go to the local laboratories to view the new research being undertaken which soon became one of his pastimes along with going into the wilderness for exploration. It became quickly evident he was highly intelligent and he could pick up on different technological research he observed with strange ease. So he lived out his early life, furthering his knowledge of science and learning at an incredible rate but always having a strange feeling he could never shake.

The Present Day[/u]

1 year and five months in the past. The boy rescued from the wreckage of the crashed space station, whom was named Scruffy by his adoptive family, has now grown into a fair young man at the age of 17, but his strange feeling had never left him. His family informed him shortly after his seventeenth birthday that he was adopted and proceeded to inform him of the place in which they had found him. Since the crash, the space station had been a restricted area due to the security systems and thus Scruffy had never attempted to actually go out that far into the wilderness, however now he had a strange desire to go and check.

He made a trek into the wilderness the following day, finding the crater with ease and accessing it without any problems due to the low security based on the security systems of the station itself. Upon approaching it however, the security systems seemed to take no notice of him, and when he finally reached it and the hull damage he was surprised to find the locked down doors actually opened and allowed him entry into the station itself. Proceeding into the station he made his way through it slowly, examining the incredible technology as he proceeded to the core.

He finally did make it to the core however, finding an enormous computer made with what he determined very quickly from his research to be magiscience. It seemed to have been heavily dormant for some years aside from controlling the doors and security systems but none the less still operational. It seemed the entire station was filled with magiscience and it intrigued Scruffy greatly. Contracting several titanium companies he acquired the metal and materials needed to repair the station and thus began repairs immediately.

Five months in the past. Scruffy had finally completed repairs on the space station and now, hiring a towing ship , had it put back into orbit. Once he had finally established it in orbit and stabilized it, he went to work reactivating the supercomputer. He succeeded roughly an hour later, re initializing all of the computer's systems with ease. After he did however he went to work researching the files contained on it trying to find it's previous owner. When he finally did find the file he was astonished to find the last owner was a magiscientist named Xana. Attached to this file was another file, which upon opening Scruffy found to be a project to create a clone.

He read the details over thoroughly before finally coming to the conclusion that he himself was this clone and upon reaching the bottom of the file he found that Xana had downloaded his knowledge to the computer for the clone to access when it was ready and the true name of the clone was Xanadu. Accessing all of the information on this process Scruffy eventually determined how to activate and successfully complete the process. He finally preformed it on himself, the process successfully transferring all of Xana's knowledge to himself.

After his new found knowledge was acquired he spent the next three months researching all of Xana's projects and better understanding magiscience as well as learning how to harness his new found powers. He also found the supercomputer was called Carthage. He didn't go to the surface of Risokyo at any time during this research of the enormous database of inventions and projects on the supercomputer, and the knowledge he gained from this research made him more compelled than ever to research magiscience.

Two months in the past. Scruffy, completing his initial research of Xana's work now moved on to making his own inventions. He designed a number of incredibly high quality weapons and began to practice his fighting abilities as well, learning how to use his magiscience to it's fullest potential. Finally he got the station mobile again and traveled for some time until he reached a world known as Hollow Bastion.

He remained in orbit for about a week, going down to the surface of the world every now and then to gather information on the planet and it's native flora and fauna, as well as the level of it's technology. Overall, the search turned up very disappointing results in regard to the technological advancement of the world. It seemed to be relatively low tech in all truth, with the exception of a few pieces of interesting technology like the defense mechanisms of the town.

However, just before he was going to leave the world and move on to another in hopes it would be a more promising endeavor, Scruffy came across something in Hollow Bastion that immediately piqued his interest. It was a computer, a very high tech computer compared to the rest of what he'd seen in the town, and it was located in something that looked like a researcher's lab.

Examining it he found it to be quite state of the art, and upon deeming it potentially useful to have a look at it's contents he began using his own technology to hack into it's files. Surprisingly his automated hacking software was unable to bypass the firewall the computer's owner had set up, and as such he had to manually hack it himself, an occurrence which happens to be incredibly rare for Scruffy.

Having a look at the coding himself he found that whoever previously owned or found this computer was definitely incredibly skilled with technology, as the encryption they'd set up took even Scruffy roughly a half hour to break through. When he finally did gain access to the computer's files he found that most of it was information he had no interest in on research involving the heart, so he simply scanned it all with his glasses and transferred it to Carthage.

However, he did find a few mentions of similar technology and from what he could decipher some sort of lab hidden in a mansion on some world known as Twilight Town. He shoved those thoughts to the back of his head and turned to leave the place, but he was suddenly stopped by an advancing swarm of strange black creatures. Scanning them, Carthage could find no records matching any creatures of this sort in it's data banks, however upon cross referencing the data with the information he'd just scanned from the computer it gave a positive identification on the creatures as being Heartless.

He easily dispatched of the monsters with the weakest of his plethora of weapons and proceeded to have Carthage begin processing their combat data as he made his way back to the space station. After his return he reviewed the data on the creatures and found them most intriguing, deciding that this research he'd at first considered useless might actually be immensely helpful. After all, this was the first world he'd been to besides Risokyo, and perhaps these Heartless as they were called were on more than just Hollow Bastion. Deeming his time there well spent he departed from Hollow Bastion, headed off to whatever world would present itself next, not forgetting he'd eventually need to head off to Twilight Town as well. His actual plans in gathering all of this technological knowledge and information on so many other things are entirely unknown however.[/size][/blockquote]

Scruffy can very proficiently and rapidly read binary code. He can also edit binary code with expert skill.

Oh ho, quite the strong character you have here. However, there are some points of inquiry, milord. You know the saying sufficiently advanced technology is magic? Yeah.

1. Guns, guns. You have a lot, taking advantage of there being no prescribed limit on weapons. Good work. I'd have done the same. However, guns are an issue. Lets face it, you're going to be facing guys with swords and sorcery. Semi-automatic and automatic weaponary has yet to be approved I don't think. Grey used to enforce a rule against them. Normal rates of fire were permitted, though. So here's a compromise. You can keep your semi-automatic/automatic guns under the following condition;

The bullets being of energy and magic deal minor damage. Minor as in a single bullet will only cause a bruise and perhaps a small hole in the flesh. Remember, this is automatic, I don't think anyone is equipped to handle that. You'd empty several into a normal character without cease considering your 'unlimited ammo'. If you choose to get rid of the semi-automatic/automatic options, then we'll talk about damage again. It's either that or enforcing an irritating collective cooldown period for all your guns or a severe limit on the ammo.

Eyes of Xana is basically clairvoyance. For a moderate ability, it seems excessive being able to react that fast. For its moderate stage at least, I think you should either have it tire him out each time he uses it or tone down how much it increases his reaction speed, yeah? And you might want to tell me how much it increases his perception (Hyuuga style?!)

5. Your history doesn't mention anything about KH from what I can see. Edit it in, please.

1. That was the idea anyway if you'll note that all of the bullets are detailed as being made of energy.

2. I can remove the crystal gun, the arrow shot gloves are obviously only as fast as arrows, the shuriken are not clustered. If you read the weapon description the shuriken are singular. But they are huge. I.E. 2 and 1/2 foot blades but only a single shuriken. I can remove the rifle.

3. You don't have the right to talk on this one. This character is already approved. I'm just making an edit, but Iris moved the original to rough drafts so I could get the code for the original so I thought I'd just have this one approved and moved instead of having the original moved back then doing a save point. The varia shades and the earpiece were indeed approved before I posted this edit, so they are under grandfathered protection. I can remove the boots and the sash.

The suit is quite simple in that sense. It basically makes it as though he actually were an android. He can be damaged and his stamina can be drained but the suit is extremely hard to physically harm in itself.

Also, it'd be good if you gave an example of the absolute maximum of what the suit can take before being compromised i.e. plunged in lava, gas explosion etc.

With the eyes of Xana, as Prythian said, we reserve the right to take back previously approved abilities. Also, when it was approved, we didn't have the Weak, Moderate and Strong system. It would be acceptable as a Strong ability but as a Moderate, not so much.

If you're still that adamant, I'll let it off on a trial period. Clairvoyance is a troublesome ability.
