Marvel Bought OutFigures Stan would do this. It was coming. I don't see this impacting the SE/Beuna Vista contract with KH though. That would be a monstrous mistake, and the contracts are long done. Edit: Remember, DC was bought out by Warner Brothers last year. I consider Warner Brothers the lesser of two evils here.

Because they can buy anyone they like? The real horror is that these mega corporations could buy anyone in the entertainment business: Valve, Blizzard, etc.
It's no secret Marvel and DC were struggling epically the last ten years.

I don't know what to think about this.
In comics, Marvel has always been in my heart as the number one.
Edit:: Me being the uneducated slob that I am, I have to ask. What does this mean for Marvel?

Meh, I hate comics. I can never get into them. I prefer DC, just because Batman is the best.

Edit:: Me being the uneducated slob that I am, I have to ask. What does this mean for Marvel? Glad you asked.....okay, this will be a mouthful, but bare with me. When a buy-out of a company occurs this involves the stock, ownership of a business on the stock market, of some company being bought en mass by another party. This situation is a lot like what 2K does: nice little gaming studio is producing quality titles, give or get an offer, 2K considers, if yes, studio gets X amount of money, and is a part of 2K. Buy-outs can be hostile or negotiated, this one looks negotiated. Disney buying out Marvel means: Marvel is a sub-company of the Disney structure, somewhat like Buena Vista is. Marvel's "publisher" and boss, would be Disney (specifically Disney's board of directors); sooo, Disney is going to have new outlines and expectations for Marvel's products. [Cue in worry no. 1] This also means Disney will slap on some logos and ads in Marvel's products, as they would own Marvel now. This also means a certain number of Marvel employees are going to get laid off. This is normal for buy-outs: the parent corporation has no need to pay all of the current employees (Marvel has 5,000 I think), and will only keep what is necessary. [Cue in worry no. 2] Additionally, Disney will be making decisions that will affect Marvel, etc. Remember, buy-outs are different from mergers. In this case a merger is not really possible, or even thought about. There is 99.9% chance this deal will go through. I would be SHOCKED if it didn't. Disney has everything to gain from this and Marvel will die off otherwise. This $4 bill deal also shows that Marvel was not doing very well...a company like them should not be bought out this easily, but this shows once again, the sad state of the comics industry. This also effects the stockholders of Marvel, effectively the fans....but I'll stay out of the stock analysis.

So this means that, theoretically at least, we could potentially be looking at Marvel characters in KH4 (assuming a KH4 will be made, of course).
. . .
. . .
. . .
This is ALMOST as bizarre as when Nintendo bought up SEGA. I'm sure that most comic book nerds are either excited about or dreading the inevitable universe crossover series' that will be made mixing Disney and Marvel characters.

^No. It would not, will not, won't happen.
More than likely contracts have been signed excluding any future party beyond whatever existed to either party's portfolio. Also, just think about it. Just think. That would be a horrible move.
edit: crossovers, yes. YES. God those will happen....;___;

The first thing I thought of when I heard this yesterday was: "OK, now we need to remember to put up a rule saying that you can't audition for Wolverine."
XD
Yeah, DC and Marvel never really fully recovered from the 90s comics crash when everybody realized the market of their grown-up previous audience and tried to fill their books with adult content, only to alienate their future audience and lose all interest from kids. Seriously. Do you see many kids reading comics(That aren't manga scanlations on the computer) nowadays? lol
At least Disney tends to still have some connection to the kiddies, even if they are well past their best years. marvel actually really needs that. Not that this buy-out would RESULT in that, of course, just stating it for the sake of.
What do i want to see out of this? I'm thinking... Disney using their influence to make a MARVEL channel on TV alongside their own cartoon channel! =D All Marvel cartoons with suped-up animation budgets, all the time! <3_<3
If only. lol

Ummmm bilby, c'mere *pats bilby* how's your ma mate? you taking care of yourself? job going well? anyway.....that's not why they crashed. Collector's Bubble CrashThat is why they suddenly went back to their horribly bad financial positions. Part of the problem prior to the resurgence of comics in the 80's was that the comics were too childish.

It is a little boggling. Think though, comics began and were aimed at little kids. Those first few generations of readers were old enough then to want more from their comics. By the 80's this reality was done well enough that the industry reeped great rewards. At the same time, the industry was juggling keeping it kid safe and friendly too, and there's a whole history of Congress telling the industry what they could and could not do.

I still never see kids when I go to comics shops anymore, though. =/ But that just may be my bad timing combined with not a lot of trips, I suppose.
