I have a question: can abilities be stronger than "strong"?
I mean, could I use 8 or 10 AP on a single ability to make it more powerful and versatile than a strong ability?
I ask because I plan on auditioning for Gogo, a mimic from FFVI. If I got the character, I'd want to make his/her only skill, Mimic, as strong as possible, since (s)he has no other abilities in game. Plus, it opens up interesting possiblities for other chars as well.

Bilby has gone the extra mile for his Hercules canon, by buying three Strong abilities, all dramatically increasing his strength.
So, multiple abilities for one cause can do the trick, I think.

Gogo, you say? Heh... ambitious move, Homac. I'd considered trying out for the character myself, but I don't wanna have too many faces in my character chain. Heck, I already have one or two characters that hardly get any story-love at all (sorry Welyon!), so if you do a good job with Gogo I won't bother fighting you for him. Good luck!
Hmm... regarding the original question, I have an additional query. Does two Strong Abilities doing the same exact thing equal or outmatch a Super-Strong Ability? Or does Super-Strong trump all?
I suspect we'll need Iris or Northie to answer that one. ^_^;;

Isn't the strength more placed in the description of the ability, not the amount of AP?
The amount of AP is more a division of what is expected and what you can or can't do. At 6, you can do pretty much anything besides instant kill/blatant god mob/un-dodge able abilities.
If you want a "world ending" ability, you get what I mean, just change the description as you increase from 2-4-6. That's my advice.
(Having a limit at 6 can also prevent any one ability being too refined and given too much freedom. That would be bad.)

To be honest, I'm not much for the buffing one ability above 'Strong'/6 AP. It opens too many questionable doors. I let Hercules past largely to the specificity and nature of the ability; focusing on Super Strength and whatnot. And because I show Hero favoritism. It's true, I do.
I suppose it'll all come down to the nature of the ability if bolstering it above 6AP will be passed. So it'll be a case by case basis -nod-
I am curious to see what would constitute a 60 AP ability xD

I am curious to see what would constitute a 60 AP ability xD Probably something to the tune of this, followed closely by this and this, I imagine. Dang, old school anime did have some fun moments, despite the frequent cornball flavor. xD

Please use extreme discretion Akito, there should be probable reason for potentially screwing the AP system. Just sayin'.

You can't really go above 6 AP. In fact, me buying 2 extra strength enhancement abilities on Herc was mostly a waste of my munny b/c we all know how strong eh is and who would argue with it even if I only had 1? I spent the munny mostly as a status-symbol kind of thing, and to limit how many overall abilities he will actually end up with as a sort of handicap. XD
Were it anyone but Herc it would likely be largely inappropriate.

Point and match.
