Physical appearance ~ :
A fighter ready to kill, standing at the most notorious and intimidating height of 5"7. But sadly, she still hits the chin of most bulky warriors. Nonetheless, tall for one of Chinese descent, Meilin also sports the mildly curious weight of *CONFIDENTIAL*, which leaves much doubt for the physical strength of the female. Her diet is generally considered healthy and balanced, meaning that Meilin probably does have more muscle than people would pin on her.
Her skin is lightly tanned, though refuses to take on a porcelain hue. It may look unblemished from a distance, but one could distinctly pick out the taut, white scars marring her toned legs. Somewhat androgynous from afar, her figure doesn't scream 'voluptuous', she still sports a fair amount of curves. Yet, if that fact was pointed out, Meilin would make it a very serious point to ignore said person for the rest of the month, and possibly her whole life. Luckily, she also sports a poor memory.
Her hair is a dark blue, almost black in certain lights; an odd color for one of Chinese heritage, and some may come to believe she had it dyed. None had asked her, so it's uncertain as to what her reaction may be. It is unruly and unevenly cut, having constantly been neglected in luxurious treatment. Truth be told, she doesn't care for it, as long as it's easy to manage and doesn't get caught in doors and saddles. She prefers to keep it short, strands brushing in various lengths, while the longest touches the base of her neck.
Her fringe sweeps over thin, dark eyebrows, which simultaneously dip over metallic gray eyes. The color may be lifeless, but while swirling orbs seem to pick out every single detail, they never relent in intensity. She considers many things of importance, and so focuses her sole, burning attention on that thing. Her eyebrows sometimes relent their slant, and return to the position they were born in; mostly when in deep sleep, or confronted with something seriously befuddling.
Clothing/Accessories ~ :
Her wardrobe consists mostly of black clothing, occasionally sporting grays and whites when she feels creative. Her normal attire is lightweight and easy to move in. Unfortunately, it also offers little protection and even less of a fashion sense. It could be said that her choice of clothing resembles a heavily modified uniform, and perhaps it is. She hasn't offered anyone a satisfactory explanation as to why she continues to clothe herself in pure black.
A plain, white button-up shirt hides beneath a thin, black jacket; while the outer layer is normally buttoned almost to the top, Meilin usually keeps the first three buttons of her shirt undone, considering the unbearable heat in most places. A somewhat short, dark skirt covers the lower half of her body, albeit not by much, with shorts underneath in case it decides to defy the gravitational pull. Long socks are hidden by equally vertically long boots that are easy for running and able to withstand most weather conditions.
Though the above may change, she can never leave the black gloves behind. They are to be on her person at all times, and anyone considering thievery should better look for another target - her anger is not to be tested. The same goes for the dark scarf wrapped around her neck, and even in desperate temperatures, the most chaotic scenario would be her stripping down to nothing but the white shirt and shorts - with the scarf still intact, combined with gloves.
Not the most practical wear, but Meilin prefers being able to move flexibly.

Alignment ~ : Neutral
Behavior ~ :
Meilin, being a firm believer of action, hardly recognizes the necessity of speech and as such, is barely swayed by pretty words and pastel promises. If one was to get past her steadfast beliefs, they would need to literally beat it into her head. Having come from a family where she was barely recognized as a true daughter, the Chinese female has it ground into her mind that any and all strength comes from yourself. Rarely will she ask for help, or even admit that she needs it - because even strong girls fall sometimes.
She has a bit of an approval complex; mostly from her mother. Meilin would do almost anything to show that she isn't completely useless. She tends to avoid sticking close to people because of this factor, thinking that it would be a weakness on her part. She tends to tell herself that she doesn't need her mother's attention, but in the end, she really can't bring herself to do anything that would disappoint her directly. Outside, and under the cloak, however, is a completely different story.
Determined and stubborn, Meilin also tries hard to cover up a side that is shown rarely - she tends to get embarrassed pretty quickly, and either hides it by brash words or purposeful ignorance. There's nothing she can do to hide the flush, except for blaming it on the heat, but when it comes down to it, the Chinese is easily flustered. Not just for romance, but also for criticism, and if she's proven wrong.
She's hot-tempered, and when that happens, be in the look-out for a boot to the head. Even more so, nasty comments at almost anything you do, even if it's perfection to the point of impossibility. Despite this, she'll help you if you ask nicely. Don't ever offer to help her though, unless you want a ragged glare shot right through you (feel free to try, nevertheless). Meilin isn't above helping others - only when she feels pity is being pushed towards her.
Beyond her excessively quick-to-anger nature is a mildly polite female. Having been taught some lessons on how to act, providing you treat her with the same, there will be no problems. In fact, she may spare you a biting comment or two if you decide to put first impressions aside. But don't hold your breath - her mood swings are as predictable as the Wheel of Fate, and when it takes a spin for the worse, she hardly has the patience to play nice.
Meilin carries a lot of bitter feelings in her, and has long since learned to master those washes of envy. Because of this, be careful of the lies that may spout from her mouth - she has the tendency to claim things are alright, even when bleeding on the ground. Though it's not because she wants to burden anyone, but because she dislikes the portrayal of such overt emotions at one go. Indeed, she is incapable of showing how she really feels, even if she wanted to.

Primary Weapon(s)
ID: Katana
Quality: Fine.
Her father was obviously a fan of foreign weapons - ranging from various corners of the world. Her primary weapon is the Japanese katana, albeit a slight variation from it. The scabbard is typically black, while the throat is painted gold , and the end bearing similar shades. There is no pommel to be seen on the actual katana, but the handle is shaded black, while the guard contrasts neatly with a glinting amber. The blade itself is marred with scars, as the wielder, but still gleams a clean silver in the sun. The edge is kept perfectly sharp - ready for any assault at any given time.
Azure Blades;
Strength: Weak.
Duration: 1 round.
Uses: 10 uses per thread.
Range: 30-40 feet.
Cooldown: One Post/Round.
Summary;
Physical 'manifestations' of the blade is thrown from the silver blade, glinting and shining with speckles of blue towards the target. Upon contact, it can slice or embed into defenseless targets. Its primary purpose is to distract(the shiny helps too, sometimes).
Secondary Weapon(s)
ID: Mini Scimitar.
Basically, what a shrunken scimitar would look like - a curved, steel blade sharpened to a deadly point, and held with a tight grip around a thick hilt. Somehow, Meilin keeps it in her left boot without it stabbing into her leg (a secret compartment?) and takes it out when placed in a situation without her primary weapon. The range of this weapon is short, as expected, and she would have to get pretty close to be of stabbing distance. Fortunately, she's all about getting up close and personal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once assuming the simple guise of a young schoolgirl, Meilin really was nothing but just that. Attending an average school, with average friends, average grades. Everything was simple and fine - boring, but simplicity in its finest form. Meilin wasn't happy, or sad, but she wasn't content with her life either. Because nothing was ever normal anymore - there was no such thing as a history without tragedy or cruel natures.
The illegitimate daughter of the Feng household, Meilin was treated with an aloof coolness, which in turn, composed her attitude to mirror that. She never knew her father, and quite frankly, she doesn't care to know him either. Any male who was as cowardly as that were better off not showing his face.
The only thing that was left to her which she still keeps are the two weapons she now clutches. It had to be kept a secret from her immediate mother, and so joined the fencing club at school in efforts to learn (because somehow, she liked to think defense was necessary). She takes it wherever she can, whenever, passing them both off as amusing toys and plastic weapons to practice with.
Her mother, on the other hand, controlled Meilin more as a puppet than a child. She wanted the perfect Asian daughter - grades, lifestyle, mannerism, everything. And being like any neglected girl, she tried to satisfy her mother's wishes. Unfortunately, anything she did was either a disappointment or a disaster. Hence, her mother marrying into the Xuan family - a stepfather, and a stepsister into the mixture. Meilin bitterly realized that her 'sister' was everything her mother wanted, and more.
Years upon years of piling the bitterness brought upon her shoulders, the student continued as normal, trying yet not in efforts to be something to her mother's eyes. Her sister continued to mature and grow, while Meilin deteriorated into somewhat of a delinquent behind her family's back. She grew coarse, unladylike and violent - her hair the trademark of her rebellion, as she watched herself unfurl into the exact opposite of her perfect sister.
So strong was her mental dislike for her so-called family, Meilin would tell you with as little words as possible about how not a tear escaped from her eyes on that day. At 17, this age would be, as the reader would have guessed, the turn of fate and reality.
A late night at school from club practice, Meilin began her slow drag back home, eyes glued to the ground. As she neared the household, she was presented with the screaming melody of distress and on instinct, rushed to search the cause of such a piercingly high octave. The first thing she saw was the swirling smoke, and immediately picked up the pace.
Meilin was confronted by her mother, smelling of smoke and covered in black streaks. She was sobbing uncontrollably, almost ripping the Chinese female's shirt off, pointing and yelling and shaking. The house was ablaze - a raging inferno, crackling and roaring. Flames flared from the crushed windows, timber crackling from the interior as her eyes drew in the dense storm of smoke, until they watered. From what she had gathered, her stepsister was still trapped inside.
And here her mother was, begging her to save the one she envied the most. The perfect one, that Meilin had grown to hate and love - simply because she could do no wrong.
Anger flared hotter than the red that encased the house, but Meilin was convinced that this would ensure a place in her mother's heart. After all this time, she hadn't given up, despite the acceptance that she had. A parent's approval would always be the thing a child longed for, and naively, the female believed it to be true.
There was no time to wait for the men in crimson, and being one who never thought before she acted, Meilin rushed straight in. Adrenaline, and perhaps the notion that she would be a hero, groped through splintered wood and crushed beams. The smoke clogged her throat as she yelled hoarsely, her sister's name. She wasn't expecting a reply, the noise around her threatening to explode as she drove deeper into the collapsing complex.
She found her sister collapsed in her not-so-perfect room, covered in various burn marks and barely breathing. Meilin, without thought, reached over to pick her up and carry her to salvation. A sudden flash of black, and she was knocked to the ground with cold claws grasping for her neck. Her eyes were blinded, and she struggled with all she had, but the grip never relented. She was going to be choked to death, in a burning house.
Irony found no smile, but a dull whine in her ears as sirens approached with an alarmingly close proximity. Meilin felt the pressure against her thorax loosen, before vanishing - the dark seeping across her eyes, on the other hand, rapidly approached as she was thrown into unconsciousness, dimly aware of the shouting and familiar screeching.
Weeks in hospital, ugly burn marks stretched across both her palms and deep scars and bruises on her neck. If anything, her mother should have been ready to disown her. Even more so when the fire-fighters had claimed that only one body had been found alive - Meilin. Her sister was nowhere to be seen; incinerated, it seemed, but her mother insisted that it had been a "putrid shadow whisking her away".
Meilin was told to track this thing down and destroy it - obviously, her mother was delirious. Not only had she lost a husband, who had been reported missing after the fire, but she had lost a flawless daughter. It broke Meilin to see her mother, however cruel, in such distress and reassured her that she would do all she could to find out what happened to her sister.
So now, she covers the burns and scars with her gloves and the scarf - the black reminding her of the promise made. She was already proficient in the use of weapons, and only trained harder in order to fulfill what seemed like a pointless request. Ever since then, she has seen things, and come across countless falsities that makes her wonder if the shadow really does exist.
But she continues, because a mother's affection is always the most important.
"Knowledge is strength; strength is power. Power corrupts, so one must avoid knowledge. Indeed, this seems to be the case, but corruption should be the downfall of whom I seek.
A sword, invincible courage; the unrelenting force."
~Other~
~ Though Meilin is originally left-handed, her use of two weapons sometimes means that she is also ambidextrous. However, she prefers the use of her dominant hand, as whichever weapon is held in the right will usually tire more rapidly.
