Physical appearance ~ : A lanky, still-not-quite-grown-up man, awkward in stance and appearance.
A little ways under six feet, he is. Light blue eyes, reminiscent of the sky's own blue.
Edward's face is a little on the narrow side, his eyebrows thin, and his dark blond hair cropped short as per British Navy regulations. You'll find his shoulders are not as wide as a man's should be, and his strength negligible with no discernible muscles in sight, making him more than unfit for any regular seaman's duties.
Edward walks as though unused to his growing body-- rightfully so. He has not yet fully matured to suit the adulthood his age would force upon him.
However, his hands are delicate and forceful-- overuse of them has left Edward's hands callused and surprisingly coordinated.
Clothing/Accessories ~ : A very large Ship's Boy uniform-- proper white pants with an undignified smock of white cloth over the top half, signifying his work is primarily in with the chef. Cheap brown shoes, and a small cap with blue lining.

~Personality~
As you're walking through the door, you see many sights that influence your mood. The different feelings that suddenly wash over you are many, leaving you with a strange mix of emotions.

Alignment ~ : Lawful Good
Behavior ~ : A kindhearted soul whose awkward nature befalls many awkward moments and brings much bad luck.
My Name Is Whoops - Edward, still finding his footing in all things physical, has a terrible time on ships. All that swaying... can never get a proper footing! The slightest bump on the shoulder, move of the ship, or surprise, and Edward's on the floor.
Virtuous Soul - Raised by a strongly religious and kindhearted family, Edward has a strong sense of morality. Almost by second nature, he'll find himself defending the weakest of weak, challenging the bully (and immediately losing), and giving scraps to the poor.
Meek - Overbearing yelling and constant unpleasantness from those in charge of the ship has led to a very fearful nature to be instilled in Edward. He has no interest in being yelled at, nor publicly degraded in any manner-- but if push comes to shove, his more virtuous nature usually wins out.

Of The Father
Though not especially good at the art of combat himself, Edward has a good eye for ways to improve on techniques and has mused on some interesting new ideas for sword fighting.
Edward can temporarily give an ally a Weak ability in relation to sword fighting.
Strength: Weak
Uses: 3
Duration: 5 turns
Of The Mother
Edward can take a blow meant for an ally in reasonable distance, including Maila in this instance, at fairly increased damage (as opposed to normal damage). Regardless of how close the attack must travel to the ally, kilometers or millimeters, Edward can step in and take the blow by moving in front of the target, shoving the target aside in a surprising display of strength, and by any other means needed.
Strength: Moderate
Uses: Infinite

SummonsName: Maila
Appearance: A newborn sea monstress, Maila is only capable of remaining in her young fish form until maturity is garnered.
Her true nature-- a Rainbow Fish, a majestic seaborn creature with strong control over the elements and an appearance to match. A small little fish, no bigger than a foot or so in length and width, with a measly inch in depth, Maila has a spread of shining scales that resonate with their inner power: vibrant green for the earth and its consummate life, magnificent blue to sign for the raptures of the deep and their close cousins of frozen nature, scathing yellow in accordance to the showstopping lightning, and hazardous red to follow the impassive fire.
Behind her black eyes is an intelligence.
Abilities:
AP: 0/14
Freefloating
Capable of moving in the air the same way any fish could in the ocean. Can travel at just under the average human's top running speed.
Strength: Moderate
Uses: Passive
Inner Flame
Maila is immersed in flames temporarily. Contact with an opposing force results in burning sensation, clothing being lit on fire, and being (duh) hurt. It is highly recommended that you not touch her during this time.
Lasts for three turns.
Strength: Moderate
Uses: Infinite
Cooldown: 5 turns
Shift
A maximum of four allies within twenty feet of Maila receive a small personification of an element.
The first ally in range will receive power over ice-- all attacks will deal ice damage, ice damage dealt to that respective character will be halved, projectile attacks dealt will be doubled, projectile abilities receive a modest boost, and all fire damage dealt to the character in question will be doubled.
The second ally in range will be given reign over the earth-- all attacks will deal earthen damage, earth based damage toward the empowered character will be halved, passive empowering abilities will be given a minor boost, and received lightning damage will be doubled.
The third ally in range will be endowed with lightning-- all attacks will deal lightning damage, lightning attacks received will deal normal damage but empower the next ability used a full 2 AP stronger (but not above Strong level), and earthen damage received will be double their original damage.
The fourth ally in range will fight with fire-- all physical attacks will be accompanied by flames, fire attacks received will be halved in damage, and all water and ice damage received will be doubled.
As incredibly massive as this innate capability is, it has an equally dramatic cutback.
Maila's health is incredibly, dangerously low. Her health, in this form, is equal to that of a Grade B Minion at best.
Strength: Strong
Uses: Passive
Elemental Resistance: Magic
Elemental Weakness: Physical
History: Maila was found during a brief shore leave by Edward, floating just short of the shore. For reasons unknown, Edward saw her as a human child clothed in a dark blanket, with a brownish red spat of hair and delicate looks. Edward immediately rescued Maila, and took her about the town in an effort to determine her identity.
Strangely, all who looked upon her face saw a rather strange looking fish instead of a baby girl. Upon this prompting, Edward looked down to see the fish poking out of the dark blue cloth as well.
Not one to be unsure of himself, however, he decided to take the childfish on as his charge. Such strange sights could only signify a deeper meaning and purpose, he reasoned.
His shore leave became very permanent when he tried to bring a baby fish back onto his ship.
FUN FACT! Maila is named for Edward's mother.

Eldridge Dutcher, commonly called Edward, is a man with little depth and past.
His father and mother, Eldridge Senior and Maireade, were both highly religious in nature and bearing, and raised their son in kind. Edward grew to be wise in the ways of the nature of morality. He garnered no wisdom of the way of the world in that closed environment, however.
Once eighteen, Edward left to find his fortune, as custom dictated. He was shortly press ganged into the British Navy on his way to the church in the next town over.
The British Navy soon found out that it wasn't the brightest idea, taking the scrawny little fellow who had no concept of hard work before. Some trial, error, and cat o' nine tails later, they found he was a fine cook with a strangely unique understanding of the way food mingles on one's taste buds then the current cook and his slop. Edward's dishes had a different taste about them, one unique and interesting, but not necessarily good. A bit of a mystery to the man himself.
Not that the current cook could be fired while in the middle of the ocean.
For some years, Edward lulled about as the chef's helper. He made points where he could without being thoroughly insulted and/or beaten, and learned what he could. He had no interest in it, however. No love for the stove, nor the whole situation of being on a ship. He was quite useless during pirate raids, and barely managed to avoid getting thrown overboard for lack of capability or discipline on more than one occasion.
This came into play upon his bringing of Maila to the ship.
Thoroughly convinced that he was very much crazy, the captain and crew of the Wolverine decided Awkward Edward had no place on a British ship.
Left on the small island town with no where to go and no resources to support the childfish, Edward has more than realized that he needs to find work and fast.
Such is the tale thus far of the ill fated Eldridge Dutcher, and his infantile ward Maila. Fortune has not been kind to either of them as of yet, but the winds of change are forever in the sails of every ship to set sail on the seven seas-- change, good or bad, is fast approaching.

Without those I cherish, I am empty. I take up the shield in the hope that I may keep all safe.
