Closed to Emi, FSA, and Jun Through events untold by this narrator, each of you has come across a piece of fate, made of paper. Three strands, once separate, now braided together, by Cosmic Coincidence. Three... Heroes? Perhaps, not. Only time can tell what becomes of knotting threads; nevertheless, may these adventurers keep one truth in mind. The fabric of the heart is not made of one string, but of many, bound together through circumstance. Not one, but two, three, five, six, hundreds, thousands, millions upon millions.
Your name signed, your destiny; here we begin.
---
There is a moment, just as the last i is dotted and t is crossed, just as soon as your signature has finished, that the paper erases all markings. Across the surface of it the words 'Thank You' march, not so different from one of those scrolling LED screens one sometimes sees. 'Get Ready' it says again, and it seems that whoever designed this contraption had a sense of sadistic humor, because before you can even take your next breath, blink in confusion, or yelp (let alone get ready), electric blue light envelops you in an egg-shell and you are pulled through a tunnel between space and time to... well, wherever it is you're going.
Everything is very dark, never-ending shadow surrounds you, in such overwhelming quantity that the brief second you spend within it lasts an hour. Enough so that you may even gasp a deep sigh of relief when a hole of light opens up before your eyes, growing bigger and bigger until you are swallowed up yet again, only to find yourself standing when the light clears. In what appears to be a martial police station, no less. The electric blue magic still crackles around you, slow to dissipate.
It is a large, high-ceilinged, and square room, with a circular desk in the center that has secretaries tending phone lines and making small talk with a soldier or two. Other people are there too, but hard to see through the light. The brick is gray, and decoration is sparse. There are only a few doors; a large entryway behind you and another door at the far end of the room. Company Personnel Only in bold print is across the door.
When the light eventually does fade, the whole room is staring at your company, a strange group for sure. 'Who were they? What did they want this time? Were they trustworthy? Where had they come from? They looked suspicious.' From politicians to peasants to pugilists, and so on. All were easily distinguishable. The bureaucrats with their posh and clean suits, some even looking ornamental. The lower classes with their smokey, grimed factory uniforms. The miscreants and soldiers with scarred jawlines, crooked noses.
The phone rings, and all return to their business. But in the back of the room, hanging off the door, a man with bright red hair and foxlike eyes waves emphatically at each of you. [/blockquote]

Soundtrack: Mad World- Adam Lambert -- Emi rubbed her face with both hands, sighing. What a trip. In all senses of the word. It was like waking from a dream. She knew it had happened, she just didn't...remember it.
She took in her surroundings. First of all, she was glowing. The magic flowing around her was like some kind of electricity or something... it made her want to sneeze. She was in a police station. She snorted and laughed out loud. Ha! A police station! Boy, was she familiar with these places. They were all the same. Same gray bricks, same uncomfortable chairs -not made ANY more comfortable by being handcuffed to one, rest assured- same contrasting population. The law and lawless. She felt herself growing slight uncomfortable despite her earlier laughter. What if that stupid STUPID piece of paper was some kind of trap and she was about to be thrown in jail. Again.
It looks like she would have some cell mates though. On one side of her, there was one of those soldier types with green hair. (Okay, definitely NOT the weirdest hair she'd seen.) On the other side there was a girl around Emi's age, maybe, with purple hair wearing some kind of business suit.
Oh crap. A soldier and a chick in a suit. What had she done!? Besides sign the piece of paper?
Just before she bolted, she noticed someone waving at them. Curious, she stopped and eyed the man. Her "new friends" seemed just as confused as she was so Emi decided to stick around. Besides, she got herself into this mess, might as well stick around and sort things out like they asked.

[Aw, I missed the first reply. And I also realized how much blander my posts are going to sound compared to everyone thanks to Mr. Formal Archer...]
Well, this was certainly...something.
Illyas had chanced upon an interesting notice during his travels requesting aid. Assuming the client was troubled by Heartless, the archer had decided it would be smart to sign up and gather helpful information for his kingdom. And he had planned to go get some of his fellow Flynn knights to do the same.
But the client had something else in mind. Seemingly as soon as he signed it, Illyas found himself transported through a blinding blue tunnel into a fairly crowded building of some sort.
“It all looks so bland.” Illyas thought, checking his quiver and general belongings to make sure they were in place. In the strangeness that was world travelling, he wouldn’t be surprised if thieves lay in wait to ambush new visitors.
In a way, he almost wasn’t surprised by this random warping. He had come to expect some truly...unique things since he left his home world. But just because he wasn’t surprised didn’t mean he wasn’t worried. No, this wasn’t something he felt he could handle alone. Especially since he hadn’t had much of a chance to battle Heartless himself. Plus glowing blue was never a good sign. Unless one was casting a water or ice spell. But Illyas knew quite well he didn’t have the affinity for any such spells.
But who knows? Maybe there were no Heartless involved here. And maybe if he did a truly remarkable job, it would improve Flynn’s reputation.
“Anything to help my kingdom.” he thought, a small but still determined smile growing on his face.
It was then he noticed that two others had also been called, just like him. Looks like he wouldn’t have to go into this alone. Although it may be difficult to make a strategy with complete strangers.
Unfortunately, neither of the two girls beside him appeared to be particularly battle-ready. One was dressed in an odd yet somehow formal-looking outfit. And she was wearing an eye patch.
“Hm...perhaps she lost an eye in battle? She must have quite a lot of battle experience in that case...”
The other girl looked much more suspicious with only one of her eyes visible from behind her hair. But she had gloves on. Gloves with no fingers.
“The mark of an archer!”
In Illyas’ eyes, there was no reason to wear gloves without fingers unless you were an archer. He was aware this may not be true in other worlds, but hoped that wasn’t the case here.
Before he could make any sort of introduction (and my, did he love his introductions), Illyas noticed a red-haired man waving to them. This man wasn’t transported here with them either. No doubt this was their client. He had to make a good first impression.
“I am Illyas Aion, Vice Captain of Flynn’s Second Archer Squad.” he said, introducing himself to his two companions. “I take it you two are also here for the mission?”
Augh, he was a sucker for introductions.
No matter. It would be important to get some information on his comrades as early as possible. And then he would go on to make a great introduction on his client.

"An interesting encounter..." OOC: Geez, I was so blind, could not find this thread. Fail on my part. Now then, let's roll (been excited for this for awhile).
IC
A request for help, which appeared so suddenly, and vanished just as quickly. Oriana was out collecting Data, self-improvement as it were. So this unusual request puzzled the entity. That was only the beginning of the puzzle. No sooner was time/space magic used on her form. Transporting her to a new world, the darkness itself would have been scary for most. The amount of time that went by, agnoizing for others. Yet for Oriana it was just a moment in time. The excess of magic around her form did well in triggering her own attire. Thus the business attire that she wore would soon transform, albeit only slightly. A glance at Oriana initially taken by the Archer, had revealed the eyepatch. A second glance, as in when he did his introduction, he'd notice the change.
Oriana's eyes would be covered by black sunglasses. Her business suit, while similar in setup, was now black; akin to that of a Secret Agent. This must have been why the citizens around them gave them such odd looks. Coupled with the fact that each of the trio was fairly different in attire. That didn't mean Oriana was distracted with her surroundings. She observed just enough to make some theories. The most important aspect, being the one whom signalled for their attention. Thus, Oriana's next action could be taken as rude to the archer. She simply nodded at his introduction, yet proceeded to walk towards the foxy-looking man.
Her lips parted to speak, yet it was within a foreign langauge. She'd spoken her name, that is...her true name "...you can call me Oriana. Are you the one who requested my help?"
The Data Entity was one to get things moving. If she was requested for a mission, then it was time to focus on that mission. Pleasantries should be kept brief, she hadn't even given a meaningful glance to the other girl, just enough to take into consideration that there were a total of three people transported. Yes, the answers they sought, could lie within the words of this peculiar man. However it could also be a lure towards ill-will; a fated trap.
Thus the confused expression upon the purple haired girl's features. It must have looked strange given the shades though.

Three different views assembled in the hallway, each associated with a different geometric principle you can find easily in any heart. Strange how each hero was so different and yet so balanced. One who saw in points: Herself, that woman, that man. Static and stuck in place, but infinite and accurate. One who saw in lines: Herself to him, herself to her, him to her. Forever moving, but just as stuck; for one who moves in one line sees in one line. One who saw in planes: Himself and his two companions, the people of the station. Wider-armed perhaps than a line or a point, but lacking less forward determination and less expanse than either.
One could be wrong in these initial observations; would they prove themselves stronger than an undefined term? A principle? Who would say? Prayers to he who would assume such; for life is a strange, unpredictable thing.
You must walk your path in your own way.
---
"Sir! With all formalities in mind, this is unacceptable! You have to realize how absurd sending such a small force into the wood is! You're fully aware how unreliable Clear is. You honestly can't expect us to get to the bottom of this where everyone else has failed." A woman's voice resonates throughout a small room. Three people are in the room. The young woman, the commander, both of whom wear battle-hardened bodies proudly, and strangely enough, a soft-looking young man in uniform who obviously lacked combat experience. The soft man adjusted his glasses as a frown grew at the edges of his lips. "Runo Malrom, I'm fully familiar with the severity this situation has achieved. More aware than some green-behind-the-ears upstart who thinks she can win this war on her own." A deep sigh. "That aside, it won't be you and Clear on your own." His voice is jagged and guttural. But there is a similarity between himself and Runo. They both speak quickly and sharply, and have a similar posture about them. Militant backgrounds, or something more. "Sir, with all du-" Runo is promptly cut off. She has dark blue hair. "The Table, thankfully has provided some assistance. I've received a message claiming that four mercenaries are on route. How they obtained such mercenaries on such short notice, I have no clue, but Clear was sent retrieve them less than an hour ago. They will be accompanying you." His tone has taken on a more official and distant feel; he stares her down with a steely gaze. "Lore. What are Officer Malrom's orders?"Lore, the soft man, adjusts his glasses, and opens his notebook. Flipping a few pages he finds whatever it is that he was looking for. "Officer Malrom, you are to report to the armory and the locker bay for your arms and equipment. Then you are to secure a gummi pod for launch. -And, as an aside, it is noted that if you see Clear on your way, you should tell him, in these words 'Get your ass down to the Commander's office'. That is all."Runo bites her lip, looking from the elder to the book-keeper, before she storms from the room, slamming the door on her way out. --- The foxy-man smirked when the purple haired woman approached first, his eyes catching on her form instead of focusing on the other two. When she spoke, he rose a firey-red eyebrow. Now that she was close, she'd see that he wore a fitting black and green uniform, his eyes were thin and, strangely, bright orange. "A pleasure to meet you, I'm sure." With a sweeping bow, he grasped her hand, and pressed his lips gently to her knuckles. "No, no, I am just the messenger, sent to retrieve you and your friends. Had I known such charming as yourself would respond to distress signals, however, I'd have sent more of them out myself." There was a loud slam from somewhere in the back hallways of the door, and the red-haired man jumped, "But we really should be on our way! Come come! There'll be more time for acquainting later." He seemed suddenly anxious to go. Why?[/blockquote]

Emi rolled her eyes at the red-head's flirtatious gesture. But curiously enough, it soothed her. Police didn't act like that. A door slammed somewhere in the building, although it was barely audible from where she was standing.
So when he anxiously called them them to go, she glanced sideways at Illyas and shrugged. If this was a trap, she would go quietly...at least until she saw a way out.
"Let's go. I guess we have work to do already."

“Truly not the most sociable people...”
The eye-patch girl (whose eye- patch was soon covered by black “glasses”, as they were apparently called) was the first to approach their client. Who in fact was apparently not a client, but simply a messenger. That was a good thing too, as he hardly seemed to have enough integrity to be a boss in the archer’s eyes.
The other girl waited a little longer it seemed. At least this one seemed willing to make small talk. The first girl introduced herself to the red-haired man as “Oriana”. And despite his quick tongue, their messenger seemed eager to get things going.
“They did request our help. I suppose we should not keep them waiting much longer.” Illyas said to the girl beside him as he walked towards the only lead they had right now.
“Illyas Aion, ready to serve.”
That’s it. That’s all he said. He had much more he wanted to say though, most certainly. Like “how did you warp us here?”, or “what exactly do you want us to do?”. And as much as he didn’t want to admit it, being the trusting person he was, he also wanted to know just whether this was a trap of some sort. He was honorable, that was certain. But that didn’t mean everybody else was. The war had taught him that you cannot expect your enemies to act with integrity. No, that was the very reason they were enemies, was it not?
As the door slammed, Illyas couldn’t help but glance in its direction from the corner of his eyes. But it didn’t seem like anything dangerous. At least not yet.
At the very least, he realized the two he had arrived with were also in the same predicament. Which meant he could count on them if things got out of hand.
Or so he hoped.

"A reserved being in an unreserved situation." Observation, that was the main purpose of Oriana being here in truth. She needed to see various people in the world and how they acted. Thus behind the dark spectacles, Oriana was observing the foxy-man. The way he smirked upon her approach was fascinating. She had yet to encounter someone so thoroughly happy to see her. Yet she couldn't figure out exactly why that was. Still, the man had some interesting quirks. Notice was taken to his attire, the flow of colours and the general feel of the garb indicated it was a uniform of sorts. Thus, their request was from a military organization or so she hypothesized (never assumed, as she was constantly changing her research). If nothing else, this foxy man who was now known to be a messenger. A messenger who was quite curteous, displaying excellent mannerisms...albeit, a bit too forward. The kiss felt quite awkward to Oriana, she'd never experienced anything like that, so she blushed. The blushing sensation was also quite new to her as she wasn't used to seeing or portraying the emotions of humans.
The sound of the slam indicated the messenger was actually a target. A target for what or whom was still unknown, yet Oriana took the time to look to the others. She was at least acquainted with them now, this being the fashion that they met. They both seemed eager to get moving so Oriana nodded her head as response, before following the lead of the mysterious messenger. Yet she too would take a glance at the direction of the sound. If combat were to be initiated soon, she wanted to be prepared after all.

The messenger held a clearly satisfactory smirk at Oriana's blush, even in his anxiety. What was not obvious, was the innate reflex with which he observed the things around him: people, body language, facial expressions, vocal tones, and the things that all of these implied. Illyas was right indeed, he had little integrity, but not because he was a flirt. Oh, no, this ginger simply could not understand integrity; he instinctively understood people far too well to respect reservation and even-handedness.
---
Trust, distrust, misunderstanding; in the heat of the moment, when thrust into uncertain situations, these linger in the minds of our heroes. Choices must be made. Notions exist that would save them or cripple them, with fortune and folly. Sometimes one must feel with care.
---
Gesturing for the trio to just follow behind him, he led them into the inner sanctum of what turned out to be a rather average looking government building. The brick was eggshell white, the carpet was inexpensive navy-blue/green speckled, and the lighting was fluorescent. Signs were posted pointing to places like Lab or Cafeteria. Yet there was a sort of comfortable openness. A few people stood in the hallways around water-coolers or potted plants, while others lounged in a break room the group passed, all in the same black and green military uniform. All of them looked like they were trying hard to relax. Every now and then the messenger would wave to one or another.
"Sorry this is taking so long. We're actually taking a bit of a detour. Thought it might be nice to see our quaint little holdings here. I bet you're all fed up with traveling though, huh? The commander said you're all probably from waaaay off. Farthest outpost I've been to was Falling Twins, so you all can probably tell I'm not all that handy out in the wood. Been here in the capital since I was born. I guess you could say I left my roots behind, eh?" He laughs, as if he's just made a rather clever joke, but he doesn't look to any of you, not directly in the eyes lest you see the evasive, dodgy looks he's been casting about. Is he hiding something, or does he suspect something? He consults a sign that lists several locations for the next few turns down another labyrinthine hallway. Regardless, he seems approachable enough to ask a question or two.[/blockquote] --- [I know that the holidays have been by, and the slow posting hasn't bothered me none, but at this pace, what I thought would be a relatively short introduction could take a lot longer than I'd like.
If at all possible, I'd like to organize a day, where we all get together at the same time, and breeze by two or three turns.
To get to the good stuff quicker, y'know? What do you all think?]

Emi frowned. She looked around the room. For some reason, she was finding it hard to concentrate on anything. Maybe it was the lighting, but she felt like... this wasn't real. The red-haired man who had met them before was very chatty. Emi felt as if she was being taken on a tour of the place. He talked, acknowledged the other people in the building... she didn't actually understand most of what he said. Not that she was paying too much attention but... Commander? Falling Twins? Not only that but... he seemed nervous. Jittery.
With a frustrated kind of wince, Emi interrupted him. She was never the kind to beat around the bush or use manners. Or her inside voice.
"So uh... where are we? What is this place, this building? I know I signed the stupid paper but... can't we get an explanation?"
She glanced towards the others with a look that said "Help me out here?"

Illyas found it odd that their client had gone through the formality of hiring a messenger and seemingly giving the three a look around this rather bland -not that Illyas would ever tell the client that - area, yet make the mistake of hiring such a loose-tongued messenger. First impressions were crucial, and the archer was afraid his client had made a mistake in choosing this man to make such impressions.
This environment did not look particularly formal either. Just what kind of task had they been hired for that wasn't even bothering the locals? If it was such an easy task, would not a local mercenary been more helpful? The Flynn soldier expected a greater sense of urgency if the client had gone through the trouble of warping them here immediately.
It was the currently nameless girl (to Illyas, at least) that spoke first. And asked their guide rather directly about why they were here. Illyas was a little taken back at the direct question, but then it did seem like their guide was straining to be everything but formal. Perhaps this really was the best approach. She at least seemed to look at the two others for some help.
"I must admit, I am also not entirely clear why we have been called. Is there some emergency perhaps?"
He wanted to add something about how strangely relaxed the guide was, but decided against it. He just could not be that direct.

"Uncertainty was best handled through experimentation..." OOC: Friday seems like a good time and our timezones seem fairly close together, say in the evening we just shoot some back and forth, then hit up the good stuff. IC: The smirk that graced the messenger's features indicated he was pleased with the reaction given. That made Oriana confused, though the situaiton warranted such thoughts to be placed on the back burner. What was important at the moment was that something or someone was chasing them, thus it was unsafe to be at their previous location. Each of them proceeded to follow behind the messenger, yet were they all not too trusting? What if the ginger messenger was fake? In Oriana's case it wouldn't necessarily be bad, it'd just be additional notes in her research.
...For her companions however, to which she'd look at them for a brief moment before keeping her focus ahead, it certainly would be. Perhaps the evidence of affiliation via the messenger's waving or others being clad in the same uniform, was enough to assure the data entity that he at least represented an organized group. Whether or not they were the ones who summoned them was an entirely different matter.
The building itself proved to be a simple establishment. Signs pointing to various locals, the colour scheme of the decour, things which were meant to facilitate people on a regular basis. Yet what intrigued Oriana more was the response from the other girl present. She asked excellent questions, which Oriana gave her an approving nod. Likewise she too would speak up shortly after their male companion.
"What is the nature of our enemy and have they infiltrated the ranks?"
Oriana kept her statement broad somewhat, as the fact that they were running despite being in a building which must have belonged to the group, was perplexing. IF one didn't know any better, it was entirely possible that they were lead away by a Spy. The knocking on the door could have been the "real" messenger. Yet what was the reaction of those whom the "messenger" waved back? Were they perplexed, did they greet him back out of necessity? These expressions would be added to her research, currently etched at the forefront of her mind, once down time was to be had; it'd be documented better.

Direction does not drift; it is not slow, nor is it graceful. Pointedness, determination, forward-facing: these are the swords of the spirit, thrust forth to cleave away obstacles in the path of one's soul. But what if one is facing the wrong direction? If only they knew, could they change it? Or is this how thing's are meant to be?
Good luck heroes. A dark wave is rising.
---
"Wha- Paper? Wait, what... You don't know?" His confusion was genuine, and he suddenly took a step back from them as if he no longer understood the strange group.
[Suddenly, Emi has a vision.]
He tries to mumble to himself. "I don't understand... How could you not know..." The messenger takes a moment trying to think of his next move, before looking up and down the hallways, to make sure no one is there. "I don't know what to make of this situation, honestly. But I figure I could at least answer a couple questions before we talk to the commander. Probably."
Biting his lip, he begins to tell you the things you asked to know. "Uhm.. I don't know how to start... I guess... Right now you're in the Champion Corps main offices, in Brigham Nair, the capital city of Guarding Castle. Yes, there is an emergency. Those Dusk-Bugs or whatever they are have been everywhere lately. Just about the entire force is out on a town shift ninety percent of the time, and even then there are still some reports of one of the damn things popping up and knockin' someone off behind our lines. A few of us hang around back here to push whatever paperwork for more recruits and aide we can, but our manpower is just too limited, and The Assembly refuses to allow permissions for The Table to provide direct assistance. And to top it off, those things have been riling up The Woods, and a couple of our major outposts have been destroyed." He looks back to sign he was observing. <- Break Room <- Cafeteria <- Lab 1 <- Lab 2 <- Residencies <- Restrooms
-> Armory -> Offices -> Lockers/Showers
^ Maintenance Storage ^ Restrooms ^ Shuttle Pod Bay
He'd taken this detour, instead of the direct route to Javvy's office, because by the sound of that slam they heard earlier, Runo would almost surely seek him out. This way, he'd go out of the way, and have to pass the armory to get to where they were going. That's when another slam resounded, just the direction they were headed. The messenger's body tensed, and his grin returned, peeking his shoulder, he gave the meekest of waves. Down the hall, a muscular woman with dark blue hair stared at him intently, her hands held what appeared to be two metal breast-plates of a strange nature. Her body was tense, and her teeth gritted. She was in a black and green uniform as well... --- The commander's office is dark, all the lights are turned off, except for one blinking computer terminal that sits upon his desk. No one is inside. Every other second the room lights up bright red, due to something blinking on the computer screen. Emi shook her head and muttered a mild oath. What was that? She looked around... no one had noticed. It seemed that she was the only one having crazy hallucinations in this particular hallway. This made her uncomfortable to say the least. What had that dream of hers been about? A boy... no, a young man... called Emperor. She got the vague vibe of distaste and boredom from the man. Hm... what HAD been going on? Arguing... it all came back to her in a wave as clear as the dream itself had been. This all only took a few moments, but it was enough for her to loose her concentration on their fast-talking tour guide. She snapped herself back to reality. Decided to keep the little day dream about attractive young emperors to herself. For now at any rate
She returned her attention to the explanation she had asked for and missed. She still didn't really understand what he was talking about... he was actually shocked when she mentioned the paper. There was some kind of break in communication here. That would have to be fixed. Emi hated not knowing what was going on and it was liable to make her start throwing punches. From what she could gather, these people had a pest problem and they needed Emi and her two new bestest pals to help them out with it. Well, that shouldn't be so hard... right? No need for such dramatics just to stomp some 'coons...
The slammed door made her jump. Goosebumps rose on her arms and the back of her neck. THAT must've been who slammed the door before... the person they were oh-so-cooly trying to avoid. Oops.

[Wow, you guys got a lot of posting done yesterday. Other than that, Friday seems good for me.]
After another question from Oriana, their messenger finally decided to speak up about their situation. Though he did so in a rather confused way, as if he himself was unaware of what was happening.
But he did get some important points out. From what Illyas could gather, these “Dusk Bugs” were a form of Heartless that were multiplying too quickly and becoming troublesome to this world, much like what was happening back home in Flynn. This world, however, had taken an approach of gathering an army to combat them rather than seeking information to end them. It was not a bad short-term decision, and based on the numbers of the enemy it might be the best decision.
Flynn’s decision was better though. They kept most of their army back home to fight the Heartless while sending a group out to other worlds for research. Yet who was to say this world also did not have a research party?
At least they were in a castle. And it sounded like their mission area was “The Woods”, as this still nameless man put it.
With another loud noise behind them, it soon became evident that something was going on within this very building. Which may explain the increasing tension in their guide. So why were the people around here working so hard to look natural? Were these Dusk Bugs within the area? Were they so dangerous that they opted to make it look like nothing happened to prevent the public from becoming afraid?
So many questions...
They ended up moving towards the noise rather than away, and what awaited them was a woman clutching two pieces of armor. A rather angry looking woman. The commander perhaps? Whoever she was, their messenger was not acting too formal towards her. No, he was acting more afraid.
“She is the first to look ready for an emergency here. But are we expected to wear that armor? I would rather not wear armor that does not bear the crest of the Wild Rose...”
The archer decided to remain silent and allow their messenger to do the introductions. If she really was someone in high power, it would be rude for Illyas to introduce himself.
And yet he had the urge to summon Quintessence. An urge that only came when he predicted imminent danger.
