"good point.... do you think we'll still get paid if it dosn't" he asked

"I depends on the Queen's mood at the time, I guess. You can always head out there if you're that worried about it."

Leon finally left the wall and walked around Rukio to the other side of the boy, then turned to face him and looked up at the Grecian teenager.

"So, how do you fight?" he asked. Leon probably thought it was best to know what any potential partners can do if a battle broke out around him.

"mostly just go with gut felling, to tell you the truth i haven't fought much execpt with my dad with a few pratice fights" he said a litte embarrassed.
"i use my sword and slash at my enemy and try to make it flow" he explained still embarrassed

Leon might have laughed in a less serious situation. He once defeated a certain kid who's 'fighting style' at the time was not unlike what Rukio described. The inexperienced Sora stood no chance as he was back then. It was a much different story now. Also in the present, this teenager was facing up against possible assassins with not much confidence in his own ability.

"Is your sword all you have to fight with?" Leon asked, looking a little more grim than before.

"yes" was all rukio could say because he was so embarrassed and was slowly turning red

Rukio might have been a couple of inches taller than Leon but eh definitely revealed his age with his behaviour if his appearance hadn't done that already. Leon just shook his head.

"You know, there are better ways to earn munny than to rush into something like this without even being confident in yourself."

"to me what makes up for confidents it the will to help and proect people, even if i won't be able to help much i will always try to protect the weak and the people who need it" rukio exclaimed suprised he was gaining confident though out the speech

"Not that your goals aren't admirable, but it doesn't help to back those goals up with ability."

Leon turned and walked a few meters ahead of Rukio. As he did so a strange weapon appeared in his right hand. it had the blade of a sword but the handle of a revolver pistol. At three meters Leon turned around to face the taller swordsman and bent his arm to rest the back of his weapon's blade against his right shoulder.

"Why don't we see how we measure up," he suggested. "No sense hurting each other or tiring out before the fight starts. Lets just go a quick round and get our adrenaline up for the battle to come."

rukio blinked and smiled
"sure sound good" he said a took out his sword and prepared to the skirimish

"Here I come," Squall said. His sword stayed where it was resting on his shoulder while his free left hand was now placed in his pants pocket. His this arms like this he began to walk forward at a normal pace. The man certainly didn't look like he was in a fighting stance.

But once he got close enough for the tip of his blade to reach Rukio he swung the gunblade from his shoulder, knees bending to lower into the attack.

rukio quickly steped to the left to avoid the swing and then poivted on his left foot swing at leon's back with the flat of his blade

Clang!

The sword Leon had swung down had curved down around his side and was now held by that same right arm across his side towards his back. It made for a perfect guard against Rukio's counter, almost as if Leon had expected exactly that to begin with.

Leon swung his arm out horizontally to push Rukio's sword away then turned on his left foot to face the boy again.

rukio sword was knock to his side and rukio step back a little and got ready, he thought for a moment and then ran at him and swung horizontallty at leon

In the moment Rukio was thinking Leon put his sword back to rest on his shoulder again and began to walk forward once more. It was the opponent who closed their distance quickly and attacked first though.

To respond the gunblade swordsman let his arm tilt forward to take the blade off his right shoulder and then twisted his elbow and wrist to the right. He caught Rukio's blade at the top and then kept twisting until both of their swords were forced down to point at the floor between them and to Rukio's left.

"You're stronger than a normal swordsman," he commented. Leon's physical strength was greater than a normal human's as well, so it was easy to tell.

"try living as a boy in greece" he said with a laugh and then brought up his right knee to hit leons side
