[What if they get kicked out? What would happen..?]
Ellie looked at both the monitors, surveying each team. Seeing who would need a back up of them the most. They were both facing a mini-boss. And they both had Data Spheres to worry about. Ellie focused on the screens at her allies, at Emma and Shinji, at Joshua and Fidelis. She didn't know who to choose. Who needed the Blank CD more. Who would get killed first? She sighed, she hated making decisions like this. When the matter was life or death. "I don't know...who we should give the Blank CD to..." She said to Tron. "Who is more hurt, or exhausted?" she asked.

[If they get kicked out, they'll be destroyed, their characters dead. Sadly.
Conversely, it'd mean we're open to more people. On another another hand, one of you outsiders might have to go into the computer to take their place or some such.
Not Cid, though. High's said very specifistically that Cid's just cameoing. ^_^]

Bang!
Most people might have been caught off-guard enough for the heartless to fly right past them before they really registered it was there. Leon wasn't one of them. With his Warrior Spirit nothing normal could slip past his reaction speed. A No Mercy blast was fired at exactly where the Book, master was going to be by the time the shot traveled the distance to reach its moving path. Or close enough to that, at least. Aiming was more instinctual for him by now. Unless something weird happened it should have been a direct him and thrown the Heartless off-balance enough for the Swordsman to rush the distance between them and stab it through with his gunblade, pinning it to the wall before cutting it clean through. You never know when something weird WILL happen, though.
'No security following it,' Leon would notice either way. ' I hope Cid won't have trouble getting here.'

OOC: I'm, ah, experimenting? Skip everything in small print if you find any of it kind of pompous.
Flash of monochrome color, like a lightning strike annnnd fade to black. Yes, perfect. One more time now.
Cue the voiceover.
Wetware malfunctioned now and then. It was one of the many disadvantages of biological systems along with poor system optimization. Programs had to be uploaded through incredibly inefficient mechanisms that were wired, preferentially, to the limbic system. In layman's terms, 'emotions.'
Start montage. Single-celled organism to advanced alien lifeform. Uhhh, Victor-Victor-Two should do nicely.
(No, I don't care if it's copy-righted! Get me that video!)
Because the limbic system was, evolutionarily, oftentimes a necessity as it could act as a primitive filter for danger signals (witness the Monarch Butterfly), it was rarely optimized for more... advanced cultural forms. Memorization by 'rote' became tedious and, frankly, untenable in many circumstances. Only the most advanced alpha predators (or in some cases, alpha organisms) could afford to spend time in 'study'.
Some evolved to study. Some were designed to. But performance specs rarely outclassed their mechanical counterparts.
Fade to black. Pause - and, show subject recording: Black Mage Video # 502. Zoom in slowly.
An exception lies in Gaia where small war machines were created with a genetic predisposition towards certain forms of combat. A merging of system optimization, wetware redundancy initiatives and adaptability was formed. In many ways, these 'Black Mages' did outclass hardware specs. Predictably though, they could only achieve viability for a restricted length of time. System optimization was... advanced due to necessity.
Zoom towards subject recording's eyes.
Still, these biological war machines were emphasis wetware. And wetware errors, especially for higher functions, could rarely be repaired.

Bzzzzt~!
Dee woke slowly. His body was already moving, one foot being placed in front of the other. It did that more and more often now, burning off energy for reasons he couldn't understand. Black Mages didn't sleepwalk. He would know.
And yet here he was...
He had ended up in Radiant Garden, some time after the attack on Traverse Town. Most of his wordly possessions and all of his charges-
friendsfamilyorphansYOUFAILURE
had disappeared. He was searching for them, he supposed. The likelihood of their survival was-
o.ooooo...
not very good. Their resources, their social networks and their skillsets wouldn't have allowed them to do any better than the others that had been present when the attack had arrived. Worse, in many circumstances. And there was proof that many had died. More had vanished. There was still, elusive as it was, hope.
Maybe.
Dee had asked for information, but that had been a troubled process. "Have you seen refugees from Traverse Town?" "Have you seen children, orphans from other worlds?" Most claimed that Traverse Town, in fact, was still intact. And no, no orphans. It was... puzzling.
Do Black Mages dream of elemental sheep?
There was a computer. Some sort of repository of knowledge, it was being repaired or enhanced or some such. Dee hadn't quite understood the gist of the conversation. There were posters too, apparently, but in an alien print that Dee had yet to master. Regardless, there was a possibity it had answers. He made his way to the indicated building. There seemed to be an on-going event. Dee just needed answers.
"Ummm... hello?"

[…Oh hai guys. I so did not forget about this thread…]
Idiots. It’s always the ‘charge as one’ that’s going to get them killed on the spot. These things might be an upgrade to a normal shadow, but there wasn’t much of an increase in intelligence. The corridors may not be wide enough for Cid to do anything flamboyant with a 5ft11 spear, but flamboyancy was not needed for these empty headed shadows. All he needed to do was…hold his spear like a knight’s javelin, Cid would attempt to impale the neo shadow on his left, which should be easy enough thanks to the momentum of its leap. As soon as the heartless was thrust through his spear, Cid would spin the spear towards the other, having enough room to slam his spear right into the slim body of the other in order to bash it against the wall and then probably finish it off. His spear was too long to fit horizontally in the corridor. If he missed the second heartless, the mechanic would simply raise a feet and kick it right in the stomach. Easy as that.

[Ooc: I'm being called?]
Ellie looked at the screen just as Tron declared that Team 1 is done. The decision would be easier now though..but it was sad to see her comrades down. Now she had to choose between two people to give the blank disk to. "Emma...." Ellie said, she didn't want to make it gender based. To make it seem as if females were weaker, but Shinji seemed to be doing well...and so did Emma. Maybe it..was gender based? But decisions weren't always easy. Ellie just hoped that she had made a good decision, that Shinji wouldn't die or something... she hoped neither of them did. That all of them would make it otu of the computer safely.

_ LEON___ As his skill and expertise would prove true, Leon's gunblade struck down the Bookmaster with a hard blow smashing it against the wall. It's hold on the book didn't prove true, and the large book went flying across the hallway. In a flash, though, a Neoshadow shot out from a nearby shadow, slammed into the back of Leon's right leg in the process, to grab hold of the book. Without losing momentum, the Heartless started off for the nearest hallway, brown and purple book in hand. _ EMMA & DEE___ Tron nodded solemnly, not allowing his regret for Joshua and Fidelis' fate inhibit his performance. With a quick press of a green button, a CD tray popped open. "Okay Ellie, make sure the Blank CD goes in that one, then." Turning his head back to his own screen, the Tron on screen started informing Emma and Shinji about the process that was about to happen. __CDs_Not_in_Use__ Enhanced Defense Enhanced Defense v2 __CD Drives Remaining__Team 1 in the City; Joshua and Fidelis[/b] [EMPTY] [EMPTY] Team 2 in the Game Grid; Shinji and Emma[CURRENTLY RUNNING: Gravity_ver1] [CURRENTLY BACKING UP USER DATA ON Blank CD 1: Emma] [/center] "Hm?" Looking up, Tron noticed with a large grin a newcomer had arrived! "Oh, hello there User! Are you here to help us with defending the town?" _ CID___ [ Sorry High, but neither of 'em were in the air. XD ]As Cid's huge spear shot forward, both Neoshadows again moved in unison, twitched out of the way of the spear. In the same motion, both grabbed the spear and wrapped their long arms around it, twisting their hold into an impressive one. The hold. The hold is impressive. Using the same momentum from the surge forward, the Neoshadows continued forward with the spear headed for a less than pleasant place. What the fudge just happened?

Dee paused in his various computations. He took a hasty look back into the town proper. Things seemed rather... normal. Ish. He would be useless if basic observational abilities were affected. Might as well self-destruct.
His head swiveled back to the entrance. He had to assume the 'town' meant... the building. Or some esoteric, regional terminology for something else altogether. "Would it compromise any general information queries? If so, yes."

[Indeed. What the fudge just happened? I am utterly confuzzled. .__. So I’m just going to go with the image I currently have in my head…which doesn’t quite make sense.]
Well. Guess there is an upgrade in the noggin up there. Cid grunted in surprise as the neo-shadows did a well practiced dodge, fluid like liquid shadow. Then they proceeded to grab onto the Venus Gospel. Backing away, Cid growled and gripped the handle of his spear with two hands instead of one. Dirt on his weapon. That won’t do. The two neoshadows pushed against the spear, and the iron top of the spear would have dug right into his ribs if Cid hadn’t tucked the handle of the spear under his arm, letting it slide right under his arm. Don’t forget that Cid was still holding onto the spear. With considerable strength, Cid managed to halt the oncoming tackled enough to swing both his body and his spear to the left, hoping to crush one of the two Neoshadows right into the wall.

(OOC: Per Rocket's request, I'll be managing Race for Space threads until he returns from his vacation.) CID ------------------------------ As agile as these NeoShadows were, they had made the mistake of betting everything on one move... and when that move had failed to pay off they quickly discovered themselves in an unpleasant situation. Cid's counterattack proved an effective measure; one NeoShadow, caught between a spear and a hard place, wilted under the strike and fell to the ground, damaged and momentarily stunned. The other, jarred loose by the force of impact, fell to the ground but quickly rallied itself for another attack. This time the enemy wasn't quite so cunning: it leapt away from the wall, then leapt straight at the swarthy engineer with inky claws ready to slash. ENEMY STATUS 1 NeoShadow Injured 1 NeoShadow Undamaged EMMA & DEE ------------------------------ "I would gladly assist you in whatever queries I could User, but at the moment my systems are fairly well in peril. I can hardly spare any processing power, what with the Users who've already entered Hollow Bastion OS to help me repair the damage before it effects the town. Still... oh, wait! You must mean the posters I had set up! Yes, yes, if that's why you're here I'll gladly take whatever help you can offer." Tron proceeded to give Dee a quick run-down of the situation in as few words as possible. Hazardous Data Spheres and Heartless on the loose inside the 'Space Paranoids' OS sectors; one team falling in defeat, another confronting a dangerous foe; the threat of the MCP's return. "Please, User, will you do it? I need all the help I can get at the moment."

You forget how massive a Neoshadow is compared to a merry ol’ Shadow until it’s right up in your face. In a hurry, Cid attempted to back away but found himself right up against the wall. Good thing after many years of reacting without thought, the pilot could handle almost any situation shoved into his face. Especially when a heartless was about to claw his eyes out. Ducking enough to the right so that he was clear of the heartless’ tackle by just a few centimeters and dragging the spear along with him, Cid threw his weight forward, towards the leaping Neoshadow. At the same time, as he stepped forward, Cid swung the Venus Gospel at it, which was positioned right in front of the heartless so that the long rod of the weapon smashed right into the monster’s body, like a baseball bat smacking a baseball.

Posters? He had not understood them. To indicate truth would be-
Oh well, the program appeared to be heading onwards anyways. A rather long, convoluted and confusing explanation proceeded. Dee was fairly certain he hadn't quite absorbed it all.
In the end though, it didn't matter. Nothing did.

With neurons firing at inhuman speed the Neoshadow's choice of 'interruption' on Leon served to do little more than alert the swordsman to its presence before it had even laid hands on the book. His leg was pushed aside so Squall did start to lose his balance but his 0.1 second recovery time prevented a total fall on to his back. Instead he caught himself with the same pushed leg by moving it ina circular method to get behind his falling weight and support himself on a backwards bend, at the same time giving the black heartless the same treatment he'd given the Bookmaster: A Warrior Spirit-speed No Mercy fireball to the back followed by a lunge and stab should the thing become disoriented, only this time stabbed into the floor rather than the wall.
Cid would probably be able to hear the two explosions of Leon's fireballs from his location, if the pilot had any mind to listen in his predicament.
