Leon grimaced at the lack of yellow eyes leering at him. It was certainly a good thing to not be beset by heartless at every turn but considering where he was it was almost unnerving, like some even more horrible trap or obstacle than he could have anticipated was waiting for him around every turn. The silent guardian of the Radiant Garden leaned cautiously into a solid wooden door and pressed it open a crack to glance inside the next room. It was a little less than pitch black beyond the threshold, with a few thin rays of light streaming in from cracks in the upper corners of the right wall. The swordsman knew he had taken some stairs upward and was wondering he was above ground again. Gunblade not leaving his right hand's grip Leon pushed the door open fully and walked into the small, circular room as his steel eyes adjusted to the return of light. After navigating in darkness for so long using just the light of his own special abilities when necessary natural light was a welcome return.
'I honestly didn't expect things to be so easy,' the brunet thought as he noted what seemed like a storage shelf and walked towards it. Villain's Vale, the dark towers were Maleficent once resided, had been a place the RGRC had not fully investigated during their newly begun time on this world. They had too much work to do in the town, and the masses of Heartless just there had already been top priority. Not wanting to call in Sora for every adventurous errand that the committee ever found themselves with, though, Leon had decided to make a preliminary investigation of the area. He was surprised to find an entrance to a lower area beneath the earth so quickly, though not as surprised as he was by the sheer lack of Heartless. Where had the witch and her influence disappeared to? Whatever the answer nothing seemed out of sorts now and his dip beneath the earth had rewarded the scarred man with nothing but some time alone in the dark hallways and completely empty rooms of the basement. This one, who's shelf actually still contained books in it, was the only one he'd come across yet that wasn't entirely bare.
'I'd better take this as a chance to end the first look,' Leon decided as his left hand glazed over some book spines labeled in words he couldn't read. 'Maybe Merlin would know what some of these are though.'

"Heilig kak! Hardloop! Hardloop!" The sound came from in front of Leon, down the dark passageway that led to a large ballroom. I guess it would be bothersome to say that this passageway was located behind a certain bookshelf few paces to the left of Leon.
In this large ballroom stood several relatively large heartless, a bird-human, and a fantastic chandelier that really livened up the place. Yes, this seemed to be quite the little party. However, the dancing of the heartless and the bird-human seemed not to be friendly, or slow, or anything happy; but rather angry and fast as the bigger of the two sides ran like a madman out of the chamber. Now why the madman had shouted his above phrase was beyond any comprehensible reason, but so was exploring a place that looked like giant castle of harmonious evil in the first place.
Aero, or the madman as you might call him, pulled out his bow and quickly loaded it with an arrow. Still running (but backwards now) he fired the arrow at the not-so-fantastic rope that held up the chandelier. The poor, strained rope was no match for the strong milk-hardened bone projectile! And if it had been, it's defense had momentarily left it as the arrow pierced right through. And the fantastic chandelier, now with no poor rope to hold it up, came crashing down on one of the few large, fat heartless. However, that did no good seeing as now, small little shadows were produced from it.
It seemed that this place empowered heartless to be relatively immune to physical attack. This was not good for the madman, for he had no real magic to speak of. But as he ran, he pondered these thoughts anyways, and finally came to a brilliant conclusion.
"Ek gaan om te sterf. Ek gaan om te sterf!!!" thought Aero. This thought was backed up when he saw himself run into a wooden section of the wall.
So the bookcase came down, with Aero rolling out of it and into the opposing staircase a few feet away from him. Needless to say, his body was now aching. However, also needless to say, Aero couldn't feel it because of the current amount of adrenaline rushing through his body.
Turning to Leon, he said "Wie die hel is jy?"
Better known as "Who the hell are you?"

Leon perused the bookcase with his free right hand until he got to the leftmost end where his black glove closed around something that stood out. he hadn't been able to notice it at first in the darkness, but up close it was definitely no book. A cylindrical canister of some kind was nestled away on the shelf in front of some of the old writings, its main body seeming to be clear glass but with a layer of pitch black paint on the inside, blocking out any view of its contents. Frowning slightly with his eyes at the discovery Squall pulled the thing out and brought it up for closer inspection, finding no means to open it. That was good though, because he didn't particularly want something stashed away in Maleficent's castle to ever be opened. The guardian thought it best to remove it from this place so the nether the witch or any of her underlings would ever return for it, just in case it had any possible means to threatening Radiant garden. It could very well have been an empty bottle for all he knew at the moment, but better safe than sorry. Leon didn't take chances with his town's safety. Merlin or the King would know what to do about it.
Crash!
The book case on the other side of the room toppled over and a funny-looking(To us, at least. To Leon and everyone else nobody ever seemed to appear unnatural) person toppled out, giving him a funny-sounding(To Leon at least, since he didn't have a translator like us) exclamation. The swordsman, true to the title, faced the ruckus with a stern look and a tense body, gripping his Revolver gunblade tightly. He didn't know who this new person was, which meant friend or foe was yet to be decided.
"What are you doing here?" he asked the aching bird-man with a ridiculous amount of undisturbed seriousness. The swarm of Heartless had yet to reach them in the small, dark room.

Well, the look the man gave Aero certainly wasn't one of welcoming kindness. However, the one the white-haired man had given him wasn't exactly kind either. But at least he didn't give him some sort of stony "I'mma gonna kill ya" eyeballs. But no one is perfect, Aero included. However, we can surely say Aero sure took some offense to this look, and Leon would get a stern babble to later. But, that was even if there was going to be a later for them...
Seeing as Aero couldn't understand Leon, the man really got no reply. However, communication between the two wasn't totally lost. No, Aero did have one word everyone seemed to understand in one way or another. Yes, this word was actually quite common nowadays.
"Heartless! Heartless!" yelled Aero, pointing to the hole in the wall he had just created. Now, this did leave Leon in the dark a little bit when specifying which type of heartless, but at least the man knew of the threat. However, Aero could tell that those fat bodies couldn’t be taken out by just one guy. He had proved that with the defeat of his intial attempt.
So, in preparation for the upcoming battle, Aero reached towards his other weapons, Kort & Lang. However, as he was just about to grab them from his side, he knew it probably looked like a threatening gesture. He would just have to wait until they got here.
So now Aero stared at Leon, trying to figure the man out. At least there was something to look at on the mans face. A big, giant scar that in a way scared Aero, and in another intrigued him. What had caused such a mark? What weapon could make that kind of impression. Surely, it would have to be mechanical. Or maybe two hits? It was a big guessing game. And as much as Aero would’ve liked to ask the man, it seemed the common barrier of language prevented that.

Leon knew the word all right. In an instant his attention moved from identification to preservation, the swordsman's body strafing off to the side and spinning around in one smooth motion that left him facing head-on down the hallway to see if the threat named was really coming from there.
Sure enough, it was.
"Run!" was all the scarred man said as he turned his head half-way back towards the stranger for a moment and looked at him strongly with just his right eye. Hopefully the general idea got through. Leon didn't know who he was but nobody deserved to lose their heart to these demons. Refocusing on the incoming again four Shadows suddenly leaped out of the ground in front of Leon having used their shadow-movement ability to get closer. They needed only another second to slash down with their razor claws but it was instantly denied. One low-arcing horizontal slash from the revolver and the Heartless were reduced to dissipating clouds of darkness.
'Only one hand,' Leon thought analytically as he felt the weight of the canister he'd picked up in his left grip. 'Wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the tight space and those Large Bodies.'
What Leon didn't see as he sized up the larger beasts lumbering his way were the four Shadows slowly re-forming right behind him in perfect silence.

[Short, sorry.]
Leon might not have seen the shadows, and normally would've been doomed to a few scratche But, Aero was as aware, if not more, then the scarred warrior. They just stood there... Forming, staring with those sickly yellow eyes. They could've been his friends.
A moment of fear gripped the falcon. Those shadows, what if they were his mother, and his siblings? They all had hearts. The shadows, didn't they have hearts? They we're covered in darkness, smothered in the black ooze; but they we're there. Aero often faced this fear of darkness, and harming it. He had no knowledge of these magical things... As far as he was concerned, heartless were monsters from the dark. Evil demons! But... He understood the concept of hearts and what they did. They were...
The center of things.
But he knew he had to fight the things. His weapons were out in an instant. But would it be too late?
A sudden burst of air pushed Aero up, his swords armed in his hands. He rushed towards the shadows near Leon, sliding along the ground. One was jumping towards him, but it soon met the taste of elephant bone, impaled through where it's mouth would be. Kort took the corpse of the body and flung it at the other three on the ground. It dissipated before even reaching the enemies.

Hearing the scuffle behind him Leon sensed the bird man assaulting his would-be backstabbers. Well, he hadn't run but he'd apparently saved the brunet some unnecessary pain. That was always a good thing. Unfortunately Leon was still unaware that these hadn't been brand-new Shadow but were rather regenerating dark beings. In that mistake he sprinted forward at the incoming Large Body and somersaulted over its flung punches with ease. As he crested over the beast his gunblade come down over and into the monster's vulnerable back, impaling it.
Both of his feet came onto the creature's back and he suspended himself there for a moment using the strength of just one arm before spring-boarding off with his weapon as the two other fat Heartless charged him simultaneously. He cleared them both but took an uncomfortable scrape across the back as a result from the low passage ceiling. As he landed on the other side though he knew it could have been worse, seeing as the creature he'd impaled moments before had now been slammed into by its two brethren. The tunnel was now effectively "plugged" in the middle by the Large Bodies who were jammed together too tightly to break free.
'Well that's unexpected,' the warrior thought as he stood back up and ignoring his stretch of stinging skin. 'But I can't stay here and let the Shadows attack that guy.'
Leon didn't have much time to worry though as three more Shadows appeared in a tight circle around him, ready to leap into a dog pile of dark imps upon him.

Reika had stumbled across this castle, completely empty. She had decided to wander through it. Her boots thumped underneath her as she walked. It was pretty dark, each room she looked in was another and another empty room. She continued to walk, her two butterfly swords at her sides. Strapped to her weapons belt that was around her waist. They were there for each access if she was to be randomly attacked. She never knew when the heartless would attack. They always seemed to pop up randomly.
Her head was hung low, her bangs covering her forehead and part of her eyes. She moved her hand up and slide her bangs placing them behind her ear. She lifted her head up some to look around her hazel green eyes trying to see through the darkness. She the continued down the corridor, not bothering to look in the rooms anymore. They all seemed empty and unoccupied to her.
She stopped at the end of the corridor as she came to the last room in that corridor. It was opened. And there was a faint light coming from it. She stepped forward and then heard someone yell, Run! She went forward, running somewhat into the room. What she saw was a bird-looking man, some heartless. One big sized heartless and another man. She send an arc of lightning at one of the heartless. It disintegrated into darkness.

The battle was on. This was just like the pridelands. Aero and his companions were the prey, and the heartless were the predator. His sword were in his hands, and as he looked around, he knew it was time for him to switch to battle mode.
Aero swung around, pivoting on one foot. One leg was outstretched, dealing a blow to the heartless behind him. Then, in the same movement, he leaned forward and held Lang out. The long sword sliced through the pathetic shadows, making them dissipate into the shadows. However, his party was soon thrown to the dogs as the bird-man realized something of crucial importance.
The shadows... They were reforming. He slided back with a thrust of wind from his feet. Aero was now at the wall, looking around with terror. This was not normal. Once you killed the heartless, it stayed dead! These demons did not regenerate on a whim! What had caused this peril? What was it?!
Then it occurred to Aero, in the midst of the look of terror on his face. This place was evil in itself! The shadows weren't regenerating because something had changed... It was the darkness in this place. It fueled them, recharged them for another round. There was no way they could win!
Unless... Of course, that little fairy over there could keep shooting her magic. The heartless she had brought down wasn't coming back. Were they immune to physical attacks, or did she have some sort of special ability of her own?
The falcon started making gestures towards the lady, moving his arms in erratic motion. "Zssssh! Zssssh! Heartless!" This was the crudest manner of telling her to keep using her magic, but hopefully, it would get the point across.

One Fated Circle later and all the Shadows were blasted away and began to fade. Leon turned his attention to the fat Heartless clogging up the tunnel and stabbed his Revolver into the ground to free his hand before pointing his right arm forward. Flames began to flicker at the end of his open palm.
Bam!
Fire lit up a lower corner of the tunnel instead of the backsides of the Large Bodies as Leon's arm had been weight down at the last moment by a Shadow leaping up and grabbing it form the side. Surprised by the sudden appearance the swordsman started to reach down for his weapon to slash it off of himself when another grabbed onto his left shoulder and pulled him back. The third was now at face level and slashed its black hand across Leon's cheek, snapping his head to the side as he staggered one step backwards. The clanking sound rang out a few times as the black canister fell to the floor out of his left hand and started to roll away a few feet back towards where the avian-like person had run from.
Squall wasn't surprised by the tenacity of the Shadows. He knew that any Heartless, even the smallest, grew to new found greater strength when there was great darkness to draw power from. What caught him off-guard was their speedy return. Shadows always melted up out of the ground slowly... these seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere. Either way though, that didn't mean they stood any chance against him.
A black boot met the face-striking Heartless during its fall back to the floor, kicking it squarely into the wall. It wasn't destroyed by the attack but merely fell down dazed. The one on his shoulder he crushed into the wall by rushed backwards and angling his left side, squashing it as well and letting it too drop to the floor. The one at the end of his right arm was trying to climb its way up to his head, but one quick snap of the limb allowed Leon to grab a hold on its body instead of the other way around. One point-blank No Mercy later and it was gone a flash of embers.
The sounds of electricity managed to get through to Leon from the other end of the tunnel, albeit muffled. Were their Wizard Heartless here now as well? Or perhaps new assistance. No time to relax and hope it was the latter.

A fireball engulfed the Shadow that had been kicked away from Leon before he spun the gunblade and stabbed it backwards towards the floor to impale the one fallen behind him. It burst apart into particles of black matter and the swordsman stepped away from the edge of the tunnel to look over for the canister he'd dropped. It was just a few feet away but before going for it he saw the defeated Shadow pull itself back together before his eyes. The scarred man quickly shot a look at the scene of his other recent victim but it showed no similar signs of recovery. Without a second thought Leon engulfed the twice-recovered demon in a No Mercy spell and it was down for the count.
'That's certainly annoying,' Leon thought as he looked down at the Large Bodies who had now managed to pry themselves loose form the tunnel and were beginning to regroup for a renewed attack on the intruders of the castle. Taking those down would require a lot of firepower with just magic.
Well, best to get started then.
Boom! Boom! Boom!

'Can you find Leon for me?'
'Leon? Leave it to me!'
'Only you can do it, Yuffie!'
'Heh heh... don't worry! I'll be back before ya know it!'
She had felt a whole lot more confident when she said that. Here, in the dark and brooding tower, she wasn't so sure of herself. For one, how was she going to find the man? The place was just as dark as his attire! And, knowing him, the jerk'd probably not even bother saying hi to her if she slipped by.
Maybe he wouldn't hvae seen her either; she was a pretty good ninja, after all, and her attire was black, too. Funny how those things work out.
"Leeeeeeeooooooo~n!"
No response. Yuffie sighed. Great. Here she was, in some sort of tunnel wh-- wait, what was that? That sounded almost like...
She hastened her pace. Hurried toward another room. Found a bookcase. That sound again! Was that him? She didn't know, but even if it was someone else, she couldn't stand idly, could she? The great ninja Yuffie was obligated to use her powers of brilliant radiance to save whoever was down there!
And so Yuffie ventured down and through the hallway, only to ultimately reach where Leon was.
"Leon! I've been looking for you!" was the first thing she said, and then she added, "And I see I'm just in time! Stand back, S--Leon, let the Wutai Beauty take care of it!" I have no idea where Wutai comes in on Kingdom Hearts, but Yuffie knows what she's doing.
She brandished her weapon, leaned back to toss it at her cunning foes and... slipped and fell on her bum.
"OW!"

"Yuffie, wait!"
Squall didn't have to worry abotu the younger ninja attacking the Heartless futilely it seemed. Before he would even need to warn her about their immunity to physical attacks in this place she had already slipped on something in the darkness. The swordsman's expression faltered into one of resign before getting back to its usual solidity. It wasn't surprising that someone had come looking for him he supposed. Hopefully it wasn't because something bad was happening back home, but if it were no doubt Yuffie would have said so immediately.
"Are you all right?" he asked, half-turned towards her and half-turned towards the remaining Heartless at the end of the tunnel. His previous allies had apparently fled, quite intelligently, and he had been fighting alone down here for the past few minutes. "Be careful, the Heartless down here can only be hurt by magic."
Still, something bothered Leon. Yuffie wasn't one to just trip over her own two feet like that on flat ground, even if it was darker than night down here. What could gave caused it? The gentle rolling of cylindrical black canister away from the Kisaragi girl could provide a clue.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow," complained Yuffie, while she rubbed her pained bum. She was still on the ground, and so could clearly hear the canister rolling away from her. What was it? Something that obstructed her in the very least! She snatched the canister before getting up.
"Don't worry! Yuffie the Ninja will be back in action in a flash!" stated the ninja confidently, grinning despite her embarassment moments ago. She put the canister in a bag she wore around her waist, and then gripped her shuriken again... only to decide against using it. Magic, huh? Well, Yuffie had her own brand of magic!
"Stand back, take two! Landscaper!" And with a violent punch to the ground, she started a shockwave that travelled from her hand... to the Heartless... underneath them... and then she raised her hand again! A burst of energy and rocks shot forward from underneath them...
To ultimately do no damage. Damnit, Yuffie, stop using physical attacks and mistaking them for magic!
"... That's cheating!" she cried angrily.

No damage, but it sure did give them a big distraction. Enough for Leon to have a chance to charge up his sword in a large surge of white light.
"Thanks," he said to the ninja, having seen what she was doing and reacting instinctively to capitalize on the resulting outcome. With his Blade of the Heart in hand now Leon could do a lot more damage to the Heartless than he could with the fire spells. Nothing would keep them from being immune to light. The swordsman rushed into the mob and used the now ridiculous range of his blade to fill up the entire section with arcs of white that would reduce all of the monsters to shadowy mist in moments.
