The third arrow Illyas loaded into the Heartless did the trick, causing it to melt into the shadows.
"Ah, good. So they aren't invincible."
Shin was meanwhile engaged with a soldier in close combat somehow. Was he whacking them with his bow? No, he seemed to have a sword now...
Wait, did his bow turn into a sword?!
"Useful, but disappointing. I probably would have liked Shin better if he stuck purely with archery. Then again, I may need a blade myself..."
Both knights seemed to be after Shin. What, had they forgotten that a Knight of Flynn was in the area? Two quick arrows in the back of one the head to one Heartless confirmed his presence, and the attacked Heartless began to head towards him.
Nonetheless, he had made sure not to use any wind arrows yet so that he could concentrate his magic energy. These Heartless would be getting a real show. He began again to concentrate wind energy around him in an attempt to create a blade of wind around his left arm. Unfortunately, this would take some time, so he hoped the last arrow he had fired would distract the Heartless enough to give Shin an opening.
The circling wind around him also seemed to be worrying the Heartless, but it was still charging at him. Illyas weaved to the left as it slashed at him, its sword cutting into his shoulder pads. Luckily it didn't get through, and Illyas used the opportunity to make some more space between himself and the enemies.
"A few more moments, and it will all be over..."

(Okay I'm made of fail, sorry for taking so damn long)
Darkness was visually seeping out of Shin body, he would not have them hurt his let brother, even scratch him, he was overreacting a tad, but that sort of thing happens when a loved one is threatened after all. “Brother! It’s okay, I’m fine, these guys are light weights remember?” Kon said Shin glancing at him and back at the heartless and sighing a bit.
The darkness slowly lessened, as Kon smiled, the heartless still trying to bear down on Shin with little effect. Than one of them turned, being struck by Illays, heading in his direction, leaving Shin alone. “One on one with you? Heh please.” He said with a somewhat snarky smirk, easily over powering the bladed foe, pushing him back a few feet as he took a stance.
Shin strung his blade, as it curved swiftly, a string appearing, firing an arrow into the creature. It stepped back once more, but Shin wasted no time dashing in for a finishing slash, sending it away into the dark. Without a word he turns, getting out a new arrow aimed it at the heartless. He was about to fire, but it seemed Illays has something in store for it.
“You seem to have it handled, but give the word, and it’ll be darkness vapor.” He said making sure to take steady aim, not wanting to take this win from illays, but still wanting to be safe, after all the Archer was strong, no doubt, but he seemed inexperienced with dealing with the heartless, and he didn’t want them to get the better of them.
‘Sometimes I wonder how these things can cause so much trouble…. Still, these are the runts, I’ve seen some of the more powerful ones… The one that tried to take me over for one.' Shin said glancing at his chest before staring back at the enemy, making sure to not take his eyes off it again.

Having concentrated enough wind, Illyas couldn't help but smile. He was getting to fight the legendary Heartless firsthand after all. Even if these knights in particular were much weaker than the ones in Pandemonium. A soldier should take pride in winning over evil after all.
"Crosswind: Sword Mode."
The swirling winds formed a blade around Illyas' right arm. As the blade was literally around his hand, it required a unique sense of swordplay.
It was a shame Illyas knew only the basics of handling a longsword.
And it was also a shame this was perhaps his sixth time ever created a wind sword. His archer pride was always hurt by this, so the Flynn knight tried to avoid it.
But that wasn't the point right now. No, the point was that one Heartless was still standing. The other had succumbed to some surprising swordplay from Shin. He wielded a truly remarkable weapon...
"Unholy beast, return to the darkness!"
With that, Illyas lunged forward and made a simple downward swing at the shadow knight. The Heartless raised its sword to block, but the blade was shattered as the wind sword cut down. It almost seemed to scatter the darkness composing the weapon before cleaving through the knight's helmet and head in general. A few moments later, the knight dissolved into specks of darkness.
"Have they really been defeated? How do we know they have not simply retreated in the form of small specks? Perhaps it is their regeneration that makes them so dangerous. Or perhaps their defense in general, for they do not seem particularly strong otherwise."
Not wanting to fight anymore Heartless right now, Illyas motioned to the boys to follow as he left he cave. The blade was still on his hand, just in case a Heartless attempted a sneak attack.
"That is quite a weapon you have, Shin. You also have my thanks for your help."

"The Chronicles of the Friend left behind, Part 1"
Heed this warning brave warrior, the closer you get to the light...the greater the shadows become. The desire to protect his younger brother was a noble act, one aligned well to those whom walked with light. Yet in order for this lad to gain the power he needed, the darkness seeped through his heart. The initial wave of heartless were more curious than anything. This next wave was hungry, very hungry.
Neo Shadows had come, three in total. They were waiting just outside of the cave. Each of them were melded into the shadows of palm trees. Depending on the actions of our heroes, the course of events would differ, thus consider each scenario titled as follows:
Within the Cave
Should the heroes remain in the cave, the lingering of darkness from Shin would attract the Neo Shadows inside. Within their native element, they would sneak up on the heroes, their emerging from the shadows slow. This was done to confirm the darkness from Shin's heart, as well as the strength of Illyas heart. If the heroes did not sense their presence, a slash to the backside would initiate combat. Any screams/battle cries/shouts would be heard outside. At which point...
"Woah, what was that? Someone must have gotten hurt inside the cave!" The thoughts of a young blonde raced into existence. He wasn't expecting any sort of "action", he was simply planning on meeting with his best friend Wakka. They were planning a new element to their game. It was unlike Wakka to not be punctual, thus; the boy's best guess was homework got the better of him.
Pulling out his Boken, he'd rush inside the cave to assist as best he could.
Outside the cave, darkness hiding in plain sight
The Heartless would move swiftly from the shadows of palm trees, rocks, whatever they could to shield their existence. The group was weary due to their last encounter so it would wait a bit until their guards were lowered. A chance for them would soon come because just up ahead was a blonde strolling the beach. In his hand he had a blue/white ball. If Shin had spoken to Tidus or Wakka, or even paid attention to the rowdiness in class, he'd know of the boy's game. They were planning on making it an Island Sport after all.
Strapped to his back was his boken, a wooden katana that he used to spar Wakka and his friends. Recently, some of those friends had disappeared again! First on the night of the storm, this time at an after school party. They'd searched as best as they could but failed. They'd have to trust their friends would make it home again, just as they did before.
Which meant, Tidus and Wakka would have to finish up that game soon.

Shin looked on with a smile on his face. It was truly fascinating to watch someone from a different world fight. The style, the abilities, so different from his own, the possibilities baffled him in a way. Still he wondered how he would handle himself, there were far fiercer heartless then these, would he just end up being swallowed up into the shadows? ‘Best not to think of things like that I suppose…. None of my concern anyway, I suppose were comrades now. That means while he’s under my care I won’t let him die, but when he’s on his own…. Well that’s up to him.’ Shin gave a slight nod, but still looked a bit troubled.
“I wouldn’t worry about that, they disappear within a void like portal rather than particles, there method of death and fleeing are cosmetically different, plus when killed, most of them leave a heart, which disappears to an area currently unknown. And don’t get over confident, over all those were small fries, if Kon had a weapon that could directly damage them, I’m sure even he could have dispatched with their ranks.” Shin said with a light heated smile, his brother tugging Shin down a bit to ruffle up his hair.
“Yah, Shin just gets a little over protective, and a lil mellow dramatic, ain’t that right brother?” he said as Shin shuck his head a bit, pushing Kon a way lightly. “Hey now, a little respect ya cheeky runt.” Shin laughed a bit, cleaning up his hair up. He looked the happiest he’d been all day, Kon really knew how to lift his spirts
As the three lingered within the cave, the air seemed to change. Shin could sense it, dimly at least, if he was more on guard, he might have known sooner. For when he turned to his little brother, he saw the Neoshadow looming over him, hoping to feast on the the boys heart heart, the one seeming to seep with light. “Kon! Behind you!” Shin yelled, already on the move, the young boy turning and letting out a yell that echoed through the cave.
Kon shield himself and close his eyes. When he opened them, Shin was standing in front of him, holding on obviously injured arm, the heartless stepping back, havin been cut . “Shin, you arm…” Kon stammered a bit not sure what to say, very worried for his sibling’s safety.
Shin slowly strung his bow, having some trouble with his injured arm, wincing a few times as he fired. “You annoying pest, I’ll send you into the void in one thousand pieces!” He said with a hint of rage in his voice, firing. The shot was decent in both aim and power, but it also hurt like hell. Shin knew he couldn’t keep doing that, so he resided to wielding his weapon as in its blade form, one handed. It wasn’t easiest task, but manageable. He twirled said weapon with his one hand, showing he could still fight to both the heartless and Illyas, despite his injured limb.
But when he got ready to charge, he heard footstep in the distance, causing him to turn in the direction ‘Who could that be? Well I hope there at least useful in a fight, I’ve felt better about my odds’ Shin stared, a somewhat stern look on his face, he knew this would be like before. Still he had to admit, he liked a challenge.

[OOC: Perfect, finally time to get this back in action! You know...once FSA comes back XD] "Even they were considered weak? I suppose I should not have judged this world's people as being so harmless from appearances." the archer concluded, remaining in place near the cave's exit while the two boys lingered behind him. The blade of wind in his hands was still flowing strong; it would still last a good deal longer.
"I'm quite impressed with your knowledge of the Heartless. I would expect someone with such a thirst for knowledge to practice magic, however, rather than archery."
Seeing the two were going to stay within the cave a little longer, the archer began to head back towards them. He couldn't help but smile at Shin and Kon's little interactions...it reminded him of his own brother Mikael. Though they were raised much stricter and thus held a more formal relationship than the island siblings.
Although honestly, what were the chances a third raid would-
Illyas' thoughts were cut off as he heard movement, his amber eyes catching sight of another shadow. No...another Heartless!
It flashed it's claws towards Kon, but Shin took the blow for his brother on his arm. The size of his wound made it obvious that these Heartless were yet another step up from the soldiers they had just combated. Still, he showed great resolve in firing off another arrow, making Illyas himself wince a little in pain. He knew far too well the pain an injured arm receives in firing an arrow, and he was a more experienced archer than Shin as well. Obviously this meant the pain was even more amplified for the islander.
After seeing the boy switch to the blade form of his weapon, Illyas was quickly at his side with his wind-sword in position to strike. While more confident in his archery, Illyas could not deny the pure power of this blade surpassed his Wind Arrows. And the last two raids had proven that bows were hardly the weapon of choice in cramped spaces.
"As a guest, I have a duty to protect you and your people. Leave this fiend to me." the archer explained, taking a few more steps toward the Heartless.
The Heartless in question was not as battle-ready as the soldiers they had just fought. At least not in appearance. But it seemed both more human-like and more monstrous, as contradictory as that may sound.
After hesitating a moment and getting into an Open Stance (not because he believed it would help his swordplay, but simply out of habit), he stomped his right foot forward and thrust the contained tornado towards the monster, hoping it would pierce him and cause it to erupt into pieces.
