Character Name: Nanaki, aka “Red XIII”
Character Age: 48. Whilst this may seem fairly old, Nanaki’s race are known for their incredible longevity.

Character Personality:
Nanaki is probably most accurately described as an elder of a group, should he be in company, despite his apparent youthfulness. He strictly follows a code of honour and respect, which was developed from the amount of shame that he felt from the false beliefs about his father. With his age comes a lot of experience and wisdom, able to give advice to people about how to tackle certain issues. Whilst he appears to be fairly cold and slight isolated, he is in fact a very compassionate person and protecting of his beliefs, race and his companions. He doesn’t speak much, generally quite a shy and reserved person, but it always quick to speak out to explain his thoughts. Having experienced many battles in his time, he’s quite used to the scenario of combat and quite generally is able to provide a great deal of use to companions.

Weapon Name: Limited Moon
Weapon Appearance:
The “Limited Moon” comes from a long list of weapons that Red XIII possesses, being the most powerful out of all of them. It is in fact a head-dress, which obviously sits upon his head as a metal band which dramatically boosts his attacking power. This weapon provided by Bugenhagen, who gave it to him during the quest to save Gaia.

Abilities

Limit Break: Stardust Ray
With this ability, Red XIII calls upon the stars in the night-sky to do his bidding. If it’s daylight, then the night will temporarily be summoned, causing the stars to shine brighter than normally in order to make the attack look even more magnificent than it already does. Then, they will begin to rain down from the sky in a shower, dealing a tremendous amount of damage upon all opponents on the battlefield, being burning balls of gas which will critically burn all those they touch.

Limit Break: Lunatic High
With this ability, Red XIII uses status magic in order to cast an affect upon himself and any other ally on the battlefield. He casts Haste, which boosts both his already stunning speed by doubling it, making it double what it already was. For those others who it is inflicted upon, their speed will double in unison, giving them a huge advantage in being able to evade attacks and generally have an advantage over the opponent(s).

Limit Break: Earth Rave
With this ability, Red XIII calls upon elemental magic to deal damage to the opponent(s). All those opposing him will be damaged by a series of five elemental spells. In a certain order decided by Nanaki as he uses the attack, the five elements will be sent in a certain style. Fire; in the form of a large fireball or three fireballs, ice; in the form of a large crystal or multiple, lightning; in the form of multiple lightning bolts, air; in the form of devastating and harsh winds that will literally shred at an opponent as they rush past it and lastly, earth; in the form of a devastating earthquake. These attacks, as well as the elemental damage, will also inflict a great amount of physical damage.

Character History

Red XIII was officially born in Cosmo Canyon, believing himself to be the last of a race that had been wiped out by a group known as the ‘Gi Tribe’. As far as he knew, the duty of his race was to protect the Canyon from intruders, which had been the downfall of the race that had been all but wiped out. He would grow up under the care of Cosmo Canyon’s Bugenhagen, who would take the surviving beast in and care for him and continue to bring him up properly. For the majority of his young life growing up, Nanaki would believe that his father, Seto, was a coward who had fled the scene when the invasion of the Canyon started, leaving the others to die horribly. With this, Nanaki immediately held a great deal of shame as to his father because of what he believed.

Nanaki would be kidnapped from Cosmo Canyon by an evil Organisation called ‘Shin-Ra’, who wished to have Nanaki mate with Aerith in order to preserve both of their species, Aerith being the last of the Cetra who were also a powerful race. Rescuers would come to retrieve Aerith, in the form of Cloud Strife, Barret and Tifa. Upon arrival to free Aeris and take her back to where she belonged, Cloud would come across Red XIII and free him from imprisonment, the beast then stating that he would follow the group. Eventually, after the dramatic escape from the Shin-Ra building where they were being contained, Cloud and the group would take Red XIII back to Cosmo Canyon.

His return to Cosmo Canyon would be met by the small population who were overwhelmed with Red XIII’s return. It was here where Cloud and the group would learn of Red XIII’s real name, Nanaki. Bugenhagen would explain to them the history of the Canyon and what had happened to Nanaki’s family and race. Upon stating his dislike for his father, Nanaki would then learn an amazing truth from Bugenhagen. It was revealed that rather than flee, Seto had run off to the top of the mountains to meet the oncoming army of the Tribe head-on by himself and had been killed for his heroic efforts in the process. Red XIII would spend the night by the figure of his father, whose body had turned to stone through death, still impaled by spears and staffs that the tribe had used in their attack. It was this truth that would lead Red XIII on to follow Cloud and the rest of the group on their quest to defeat Sephiroth for the first time. At the end of their adventure, Red XIII would find that he was not the only one of his race still in survival and would find a mate, standing over the cliffs of Cosmo Canyon with his children beside him.

He would enter the world of Kingdom Hearts just like the others he knew, coming to the world in via an unknown method where he would mysteriously awaken in Traverse Town with Cloud along with his family. Nanaki would settle in the Pride Lands with them, the most suitable location for them with the ideal climate and general scenery where they would be safe. For now, life simply continues for them.

Due to his being a beast, he is naturally faster and stronger than the normal human, able to run at similar speeds to that of a tiger with the strength of a creature such as a lion. He had terrific endurance as well as stamina.
