"You know, you're not really making my job any easier big dude."
Xigbar had tried being nice, well he'd tried being smart-alecy at least, but for people generally just didn't like the idea of losing their heart. Either way this one was his assignment and it would have to be made into a Heartless. It had taken too long to find it in the first place anyway, even with the Snipers searching the mountains with him. Number II didn't have a complaint to make about it though. He was used to this kind of mission and it really suited him quite nicely. The act of hunting down a target and taking it out... well it was about as close to fun as the Nobody could experience. The productivity of it to the Organization's cause, well that was just a bonus to him. The others could spend most of their days in labs and researching and thinking about hearts if they wanted to. Xigbar preferred action and instinct.
Which he was getting a lot of at the moment.
"Heads up!" the space-manipulator yelled in a tone that faked amusement as he unleashed a full round of red laser arrows downwards. The rock wall behind where he'd been standing previously took the hit that had been aimed at him, but but that wasn't where the Freeshooter was anymore. Currently he stood upside-down several meters above the ground as he blasted away at the attacker itself with profound accuracy. Not hard considering the size of what he was aiming for, he would have to admit. At first Xigbar had let the Heartless try to get the job done themselves, but Xemnas had been right about it being too hardy a target for the likes of them. That didn't mean it amounted to much against the higher Nobody though, at least not in his mind.
Ever since he became a Nobody Xigbar's old human body had no longer been held back by the rigors of aging, and the guy got a major kick out of it. While his eye and scar hadn't healed in the process some colour had still returned to the former scientist's hair and his new powers made physical labour a breeze. True it was nothing compared to the purposelessness of not really existing, but if they could achieve their goal then the Organization could have their cake and eat it too. Being able to feel young again, that was what Xigbar was missing from the experience of just having a body that could actually act young again. Soon though... Kingdom Hearts was almost complete.
"RRRRAAAAWWWRRRR!!!"
The Nobody smirked as a massive beast rushed upwards at him in retaliation for the shots that stung at it's hide. If Xigbar hadn't known for sure it could understand human speech he would have felt silly for talking to himself. With massive wings it pushed up through the cold snowy air and opened it's gaping jaws to swallow the hunter whole. Said offender simply brought his two Gun Arrows closer together and aimed them straight upwards, which was actually straight downwards but technicalities like that didn't phase him much, and let a bright blue-white glow collect. The dragon clamped it's jaws down around the intended meal successfully and then stopped it's ascent. Instead of a victory roar however the majestic beast began to writhe and twitch in the air until it's movements ceased and the legless flier fell helplessly to the ground, it's innards pounded by a large bouncing projectile of energy.
Watching passively from the top of a nearby cropping of rock where he'd appeared again in a flow of distorted space Xigbar braced himself against the shaking generated by the target's crash. With both weapons gone from sight a black right hand raised up and then pointed forward at the still living but heavily wounded dragon, making a gun shape with it's fingers. At that action the local Heartless started to pop up all around him and make their way towards the now more vulnerable heart laid out before the predators. Soon enough another Heartless emblazoned with Xehanort's special mark would be born.
"Now to just wait for Roxas to show up," Number II said dismissively as he tucked his ponytail away and pulled his hood back over his head. This high-altitude wind was rough on the ears, to say the least. 'Guess I'll let this bad boy into town. That should get him running along quick.'
A black flowing entrance of darkness appeared behind the gun-wielding Nobody and he turned away from the sight as the dragon's body began to vanish and it's heart's darkness overflowed into the world, becoming flesh. As he moved carelessly into the corridor of darkness with the Imperial palace in mind the Freeshooter didn't let his tone of face express any of the sheer emptiness he felt about having completed his mission and taken down such a powerful target. Instead Xigbar simply looked forward to a time when his actions could actually mean anything to him either way, and if Roxas and his Keyblade would show up to slay the dragon all over again then he'd be one more step closer.
That was more than enough reason for him to force on a pleased expression, even if there was nobody around to see the act.
