Audition post (400 words):
So, it had come to this.
Marluxia could not say he had forseen such an occurrence, yet somehow, he had suspected it might end up like this. In the few moment’s reprieve allowed to him, Marluxia had deduced the cause which pushed his back against the wall. True, Sora was unbelievably strong, but more then that, Marluxia could not have predicted how the boy would affect the morale of his soldiers. Who knew a Nobody, even one like Namine, could harbour such deep feelings for another, as to value him over herself? Was it true, then? That Nobodies could understand the shallow concept of ‘love’? They understood ‘greed’ and ‘pity’, well enough, but love should’ve been a stranger. How uncouth; to be bested by the meagre feelings of adolescence.
“I was not wrong,” Marluxia murmured to himself, as he strode through the pure white halls. The path he chose had been correct, it was simply an erratic mischance that led to such an unfavourable outcome. Marluxia might have been a genius tactician, but time and time again, Sora received insurmountable fortune. Unlikely miracles in which he prevailed against the odds; not through his own counter initiatives, but through the strength of those who he protected and in turn protected him. What a lucky boy. If Marluxia still had his heart, he would be envious. In his life, the people he protected did not protect him. That is why a person who lives their life for others, is destined to have nothing. Marluxia had learnt that the hard way.
So. He would carry on his ambitions for himself alone. Whether it was Xemnas, the Keyblade Master or the Universe that stood in his way; Marluxia would scatter them like the vermin they were. And why wouldn’t he? He was gifted, he was diligent and he had an invincible sense of purpose. Even were his body to return to dust, Marluxia’s sheer will would not rest. That was the kind of motivation that drove him.
His footsteps echoing through the hallway, Marluxia came upon a giant, machine-like Nobody. It was his trump card, the strength that rivalled Xemnas; its name was Redux. Marluxia’s power personified. “Were you lonely?” Marluxia cooed, stroking his fingers across the surface of Redux’s android arm, “Don’t worry, I’ll let you out to play soon,” This Redux being, which was the rest of him, was something he had not shown any other before, not even Larxene; who was arguably the person he allowed closest to him. Larxene, now there was a thought. Her death, unlike other events, was completely expected. She should have just obeyed him and defeated Sora whilst he was distracted instead of having to mock him; her sick sense of humour was her downfall. It mattered not in the end; Marluxia did not need a pawn that couldn’t even move forward when instructed.
Sora would come soon, through that ivory door that separated them. Marluxia progressed quite calmly to the central area, where he knew Sora would appear. Standing in the centre, he gradually levitated himself upwards and he lifted his head to the blank white ceiling. He mused at the most effective manner dealing with the boy. It was a simple matter; once Sora was subdued, Marluxia would force Namine to change his memories by threatening the boy’s life. Then, with the Keyblade as his spearhead, he would overthrow Xemnas and be one step closer to reaching the end of his dream. The click of an opening door alerted Marluxia to Sora was making his entrance. A faint smile traced Marluxia’s usually expressionless lips.
“Will you show me the end of my dream, Sora?”
