A blonde hair, blue eyed boy walked along the streets of the beautiful Twilight Town. The boy was a Nobody, Roxas was his name. His Nobody? Sora, the legendary keyblade wielder. Though Roxas was a Nobody, his eyes had somewhat of a...sad look to them. The boy looked upon his once humble abode. He remembered running along the streets with his friends, laughing happily. Laughing...he loved laughing. It was one of the things that he missed. There was nothing to make him laugh anymore. His friends couldn't remember him, Namine, the only person that had actually made him feel like he had a heart, was missing. Everything seemed so different when he was alone.
As he walked, he stepped in a puddle of something. His black boots stopped moving, the chains on the side of his organization cloak stopped clinking. He stooped down and touched the liquid. He brought his fingers to his nose and smelled it. Sea-salt ice cream. Roxas immediately remembered sitting on the clocktower with his old friends, talking about what they would do when they grew up. At the time "working for an organization of Nobodies bent on gaining their hearts back and taking over the universe" never crossed Roxas's mind.
He chuckled to himself at this thought. Whether it was real or not was a mystery to him. He was so used to forcing emotion now he wasn't sure if it was ever real. Sure, he was told he was different from most Nobodies, and he did notice that he acted different sometimes, but he never thought about this...about where he would end up now. Whatever happened to the good days where he didn't know about his destiny? The days where he could play some struggle or blitzball with his friends in the streets? Whatever happened to friends?
"We are your new friends."
That's what Roxas remembered being told when he went back to Organization XIII. Roxas's hands clecnched as the leather gloves made the annoying stretching noise. He spun around and kicked a rock that was behind him. The rock went flying through the air and into a small window. He heard yelling and just threw his hood up and turned away from the window, looking at the sunset.
Roxas knew who was to blame. It was Sora. That Somebody! The boy that had the privelege to be a Somebody! "But..." Roxas wondered aloud, "Can a Nobody become a Somebody? What was it that I felt back there? It felt like anger, but I thought I couldn't feel anger...." As Roxas looked on at the sunset, he realized where he was. He was right outside of the alley where his friends' hideout was. Roxas stepped lightly. He left a few foot prints from stepping in the sea salt ice cream earlier, but those soon disappeared as he entered the alley.
Roxas peeked into the room, always cautious, always aware of his surroundings. The minute he entered, he brightened up. It was dark, but he saw the outline of his friends! "Hayner! Olette! Pence!" he yelled out. But when his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he realized there was really no one there. Just his imagination...his memories. The blue eyes of sadness returned again. Then they turned into anger, as they did before. Roxas saw a ticket for the train and was briefly reminded of a day, long ago. The last few days he had been with his friends, in fact.
It was a beautiful day. A day that made them all decide to go to the beach! Unfortunately, none of them had enough Munny. So they all decided to go out and get jobs. Roxas spent the whole day working. The whole day looking forward to seeing the look on his friends' faces when HE showed up with the most munny! And he did! A whole purse of the jingling munny had been given to him and he ran back to the Hideout.
"Where were you?" Hayner had asked him. Roxas told them what he had done and then showed them the munny. They all "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed. It was a proud day for Roxas! The sense of accomplishment that had filled him as he approached the counter and reached into his pocket to pull out the munny and...and...! It was gone....
"Axel," Roxas said grudgingly. Now that everything has happened, Roxas knew it was Axel that had taken the munny. But that made Roxas think. He was actually, truly happy back then! He was alive! Maybe that means that there was a chance for him to be Somebody once again. This brightened his mood. Roxas turned from the Hideout, leaving it behind him. Leaving it not in despair, but in hopes of seeing his friends once again. A new mission....
Roxas walked out of the clutter of buildings and into a small square. The sun was almost fully set. Roxas put his hands on the railing looking out on the ocean and threw his head back, throwing his hood off again. He shook his head a little. HIs mood had been brightened by this new revelation. So brightened, in fact, that it took him a second to realize where he was....
Roxas turned around. The train station, the clock tower...he was where his friends would go to watch the sunset. Where...where....
Tears.... Tears streamed down Roxas's face. At first he couldn't believe it. He had to take his glove off, reach up and touch his face. It was wet. It was sadness. Sadness for his friends. Roxas fell to his knees. He didn't make a sound. He didn't whine, he just teared up. But it was EMOTION. And he had never felt such a thing.... He was so happy about this, yet sad. Happy because he realized he had emotions, sad because it was his current emotion.
Roxas reached up and rubbed his eyes. When he pulled his hand away and opened them, there was a single, blue bead there. The bead from the trophy. He looked at it with confusion and shock, at first, not recognizing it. Then he knew it! The bead from the Struggle Trophy! It all was connected! It was a sign that his search was far from over. It was just beginning.
"I'll find you," Roxas said with determination, "I'll find all of you. I will become whole without having to bind with Sora...and I will find you, too....
"Namine...."
