Audition post (400 words):
Amidst the crying of the helpless civilians erupted a demonic roar so sudden and powerful that it shook the blood and bones within the fibers of their being.
And, as they probably expected, soon enough, the black monster hastily sped through the streets of Olympia, terrorizing the townsfolk, ripping up vendor carts and breathing despair into the poor people. The three-headed dog was exceedingly fed up; why would he not be rewarded by his master? Cerberus did not have such patience! When he became angry at his master, he could not do anything to him, and thus he was left with repressed rage within his soul! Cerberus had already acknowledged that his master was aware of his aggressive attitude, so why didn’t he just reward him already?
Time after time again the three-headed beast would run special errands just to make his master proud, just to satisfy the powers of the Underworld. But this satisfaction was not enough! The pride and good feelings that his master made him feel simply weren’t enough to quench Cerberus’ thirst for years and years—he needed more, more, more! And so, without knowing what to do, Cerberus had decided to come here, to Olympia, out of his cage, and to wreak havoc. Just to get attention. The attention he deserved, the attention from his master that he fought for so boldly and…
ANGRILY!
Trembling with power, Cerberus raised his three heads into the air, each and every of his blood-red eyes brimming unnaturally underneath the unpleasant rays of the hot sun, and he allowed all the rage, all the anger to swirl around his body until… BOOM! He pounced into a huge monument, a monument of him, of the hated one, of the one who stole his pride, of the one who was so vain and served as a perfect source of rage for Cerberus! Ending up meters way from the ruined statue, Cerberus made a brief glance at it and roared boomingly once again, but this time with satisfaction, his tone pitching up a little.
Ha! How would the civilians like that? How would the Gods like that? How would Hercules himself like that? They wouldn’t! And that was what caused an extreme surge of merriment to engulf Cerberus, simply provoking him to destroy and ruin even more. No longer would the civilians, Hercules or the Gods be happy! It was time for Cerberus to be happy, to get the rewards he deserved! The God of the Underworld owed him so much, and he would be delighted to see what Cerberus had done, and then the three-headed dog would have the most attention in the Underworld! Oh, how appealing that sounded to the beast!
But when a familiar voice thundered throughout Olympia, Cerberus instantly froze. His amazing, fearless attitude suddenly ceased as he witnessed his master arriving—but why was he angry? Panting, Cerberus raced for him, but Master halted him. Why did he do that? Perplexed, Cerberus tilted his head and unleashed a ferocious growl, in an attempt to show his master that what he did was not wrong at all, but merely right! Cerberus demanded attention, and so he got it, but it wasn’t necessarily the right attention. The master spoke with anger to Cerberus, but he didn’t understand until…
Fire! Red, hot, blazing fire! It scorched Cerberus so…why did his master do this? He punished Cerberus, and this made the dog exceedingly unhappy. Cerberus’ tail—a spot that was so difficult to reach, was burnt to the third degree, and a white streak was left upon it. He could tell that his master was angry—he could always tell when the red hot flames erupted from Master. But that didn’t make Cerberus happy at all—oh no, in fact, it made him sad, and then even angrier than he already was!
But for now, it would all be repressed. Later, Cerberus would unleash his wrath upon…upon something, something that didn’t deserve to live. But, of course, for now, Cerberus had to remain quiet…he had to, because of Master. Wailing, his once demonic eyes wide and furious, Cerberus crouched down low in complete shame as he saw Master command him to go back to the Underworld.
Oh no. Oh, this was the worst possible outcome! All Cerberus wanted was attention and love from Master, but his master gave him nothing but hatred! Oh, the sadness, the shame, the guilt…soon it would all be released in the form of dark, demonic powers, hungry roars and Cerberus’ destructive behavior. But Master was the only one who could repress it, who could control Cerberus. Master’s magical powers made Cerberus love him and look up to him; and Cerberus was bound to the Underground, because that was his home.
And so, in a matter of mere seconds, Cerberus went from a ferocious monster to a shameful pet, beaten down by his master and traveling with an extremely sulky attitude towards the entrance to the Underworld…
Now, Cerberus really would get bundles of attention back home...bundles of attention indeed.
