II. Dive to the Heart
Soul
I. "Where does your journey begin?"
"Where does my journey begin? Wow... I haven't really thought about it. It began, where most beginnings take place, at home. My dad was one of the few people who knew of other worlds even before they began unlocking. He liked to call himself a "Worldly Merchant," one who traveled the many places and sell his items amongst them, I just called us expanded gypsies.. Moogles were his favorite customers, and when I was younger I loved them the most too. They're really great with kids, you know...
"But, I digress. So, one day, while I was out traveling with dad, a Heartless popped up. Oh, they were such foul creatures! After the first, many more came. We were within the Deep Jungle, so escape was near impossible -even if we did where could we go? So, we were swallowed by Darkness. I saw it -my dad's heart- rise from his chest. It reminded me of stained glass, with an eternal sun, that slowly was consumed by the shadows.
"That was where my journey began -by my father's heart. Seeing it brought some sort of internal light to me, and -somehow- I wasn't consumed by the Heartless. From there, I went somewhat unwillingly into a quest for gods know what."
II. "What is your goal to accomplish?"
"I'm not exactly sure, to tell the truth. I could be chivalrous and say it's to stop the Heartless from consuming other worlds, but that wouldn't be true. And I could say I'm looking for my father's heart, but that wouldn't be completely true either. While family is important, it's isn't my world. No, my goal now is to find Maes. To find the man, in whatever form he is now, and to save him."
III. "What happens if your fail your goal?"
"The only other result than reaching my goal is death. I know this because I've faced such a thing many times before. The Heartless may have been locked, but for some reason they're abundant now again, and if I fail at finding Maes it is them who shall have my heart. Considering what I saw him last as, he'd enjoy having it more than he probably should. Failure results in... well, not exactly death, but close enough."
IV. "What happens if you succeed in your goal?"
"Then I save Maes! I will return him to whole and we'll be fine. If I succeed, then we can go back to living together in my father's old house and hopefully will get married. I've only been looking forward to such a proposal since the first Kingdom Hearts was opened! That damn thing stole him away from me, and when I get him back we'll be able to turn out backs to it. If Maes and I are rejoined together, as we should be right now, then Heartless and Nobodies won't be able to hold any more sway to our lives. I'd be able to forget all this like a bad dream..."
V. "What was one of the hardest decisions you had to make?"
"This is an easy question. Killing one of my good friends. Well, she was actually my friend still, but damn close. It was Zadiel's Nobody, Daxielz. She acted so similar to the real, Zadiel, though, I couldn't tell the difference at first. Poor Morozov (Zadiel's last name, it's what we used to call her...). If I hadn't killed Daxielz, however, then I'm pretty sure that I still wouldn't be here. But -and I'm dearly sorry to say this, Morozov- the need for Maes is greater than her."
VI. "What was the biggest change in your life?"
"Is everything a valid answer? Because, really, that's what it feels like...
"The biggest change in my life is the style I live it in. Before, I had been a very relaxed, calm person. I liked to sing -still do, actually, I read lots of books, was a wealthy merchant's child. Life was calm. But, ever since those damnable creatures came along, I've always been running. And while I'm used to moving frequently -that IS what gypsies do- it had never been like this. My lifestyle now is, to best describe it in one word, chaotic. I'm erratically trying to find someone, searching one place as best I can in the shortest amount of time while killing Heartless and then moving along.
"Such a lifestyle has its wears on me. I almost never get a good night's sleep, if I sleep at all. I barely eat now, and I drink far too much. I'm always going somewhere, and will only linger if someone happened to be nice to me. I hold almost no friends, and those who were my friends are either dead or upon separate worlds. The Heartless have scattered my life into the four winds, and I've never found a way to gather myself back up."
VII. "What was the happiest time/moment in your life?"
"Hah, isn't that obvious by now? The happiest I've ever been was when I was with Maes. Oh, he was such a kind, gentle man. Sure, he had his share of misery, mystery and regret, but that is why we bonded. Both of us were nearing the deep end, and though we weren't looking I guess we sensed the potential we could have together. And, from there, stuck to each other like glue.
"Elie Avery, another old friend, said we had both been quiet individuals, but simply wouldn't shut up in the presence of one another. Heh, I guess she was right... Maes really only talked to me about things. I think he talked to Rodriek a few times too. But, wow... Those days were my Golden Era, truly. When it was just Maes and myself, living in Esperia."
VIII. "What was the most shocking moment in your life?"
"When I saw my father's heart, hands down. If I'd seen Maes' heart taken, it'd be even more traumatic. But, when I was with my father all those years ago the first time the Heartless appeared, I was chilled to the bone. It was such a frail thing... The glittering light inside it blinking rapidly, trying to stay alive despite the all-consuming darkness...
"Despite all my screaming and thrashing, the Shadows held me down. I tried my damnest, and to nothing! It was like a bad dream, watching Dad's heart of all things glowing from his chest, the ravaging Heartless tearing over one another to reach it. I still have nightmares of that moment..."
IX. "What was the darkest event in your life?"
"When Kingdom Hearts was locked the first time. For, Maes at that time was a Heartless. And, when it was locked, the Heartless-Maes died, in a way. His heart returned to his Nobody, becoming the true Maes. But, that thought hadn't occurred to me quite yet, and so I figured him dead and gone. Gone far, far away from me and to never return. I went home then, and moped around my father's house, not allowing sunlight inside and barely living.
"Ah, but light was brought in when Maes, full of heart, came and found me. He traveled from his world, Esperia, to bring me back home with him."
X. "What angers you the most in your life?"
"People who hurt or threaten those I care for. Ah, that just pisses me off! They should know better than to try that with ME there! Just thinking about it gets me pissed. I mean... Why would someone do that to my friends? They don't deserve that sort of shit. If they did, they wouldn't be my friends. Yea, sure, my friends so some weird and stupid stuff, but I've never known them to do it in malicious manners. Unless they're trying to be malevolent, then there's no reason for someone to threaten them! Geez, some people are just morons!"
XI. "Where does your strength or determination come from?"
"Easy one; hope. Yea, sure, it's a frail and often fickle thing, but it's stronger than most people give it credit for. I've been called insane for relying on something so ever-changing and timid. They don't know, though, how to draw upon the strength of hope. Hope has always been a reliable source of determination AND strength for me, even without Maes there, because there's the hope that he will be soon."
XII. "Who or what inspires you to succeed?"
"Mainly Maes does. He's always there, in my mind and my love. But, so do my friends and allies. They've always been so strong, standing up to what comes along. If I simply... stop, then all of their efforts and faith in me shall too! I can't just not succeed, especially with everything my friends have done for me. I'd be worse than my enemies if I did that."
XIII. "Where does your story end?"
"I don't know, it hasn't ended yet. I don't think my story will ever truly end, either. For, even if I die and mention of me is passed along, it'll always change and adapt. My story, my life... Myself, I will never end. I'll always be, even in the littlest of way. Eternity isn't the right word, but its the first word that comes to mind."
General History
Lira Sayinn was born in a world call Hüsborne, a world of extreme climates. If it wasn't raining buckets, then there was a blizzard blowing outside. And, on the rare day during the summer it wasn't raining, the sun came down with such heat one couldn't leave without a special parka to protect them from U.V. rays. No doubt, it was hard traveling to the nearest town from Lira's lonesome house. The house was built facing a sheer cliff, the backside facing a wide valley composed entirely from wildflowers. To the east was the Röibe Forest, named after a mysterious animal within its depths.
Even isolated from the town, Lira had fun as a girl. Her father was more often than not her playmate, and on the rare sunny days they'd race to the town and spend up to a month with others. Lira had friends there, who always seemed different each time she went. But, one thing was always tradition while visiting the town; song. Lira, among many other folks, would often sing upon entering. The song often lasted several minutes, and had to be met with silence. There were few exceptions to that tradition, one being her father who was as tone deaf as a mule. But, through this song Lira learned her joy of it.
When Lira became old enough, her father began taking up their Worldly Merchant trade. Lira knew of their gypsy-like background, and while her father had always shown signs of restlessness during her years of growing up, she never knew it stirred in her as well. But, during that first Gummi Ship ride, Lira was absorbed by the idea of other worlds. She, in fact, was so enchanted that they didn't go home to Hüsborne for a year and a half. When they did, though, they only stayed a month to restock and rest before leaving.
After a bit over half a decade, Lira and her father were known. Not quite famous, but definitely infamous. Lira was known for singing to her customers for tips, while her father known for being very generous with his prices. Their biggest concern, and they often bragged about this, was their customer's experience. It worked, quite well... Until the Heartless attacked in the Deep Jungle...
Lira awoke, like many people did, in Traverse Town. She met up with Pike Angelous, a boy who lived had lived there his entire life. Pike helped Lira get her life settled in Tr. Twn the best he could. And, eventually, Lira met up with Elie and Norris Avery, Zadiel Morozov, and Griff Highwind (no relation to Cid). Despite the Heartless, Lira managed to make a good enough life, helping to work in the Accessory Shop a few days of the week. One time, while the group was playing in a Karaoke bar, a stranger walked in with brilliant gold eyes. After Lira finished her song, he came up and began talking...
The man, whose name was Maes, joined the group. But with him also came Heartless, so many in fact Lira persuaded the group to go to a different world, perhaps one that held less Heartless. Everywhere they went there were Heartless, following Maes like a darkness. Lira, however, was blindly devoted to her new, strangely emotionless friend, and loyally fended the Heartless off. During their travels, they heard of Sora, the Keyblade Master, and decided that perhaps fighting Heartless could help him, even a little.
With a new angle to life, the group went back to Traverse Town to help rid it of Heartless. They heard mention Sora had passed through, on his way to another world. The clean-up crew went to work. But, as Lira noticed, Maes seemed weaker now with the world's heart locked. She took him in secret to Hallow Bastion, where he was strongest. But, after only a week there, Sora came. After the battle with Ansem, Maes 'died,' and all Lira could remember was brilliant white light...
...When she awoke she was inside Hüsborne's tavern, the smell of fresh mead awakening her. After learning they'd found Lira in the center of the town turning a rainstorm, and brought her inside to get warm a few days ago. Lira, after several glasses of mead and some to take home, went to her father's house on the nearest break in the weather. Her father wasn't there, however, and so Lira lived by herself for nearly a month. She didn't return to the village, or answer the door when they came by. Instead, she locked herself in, not caring much for herself and often spending days in bed. That was, until Maes, whole and restored as a human, came. He took her from Hüsborne to Esperia, Maes' homeworld, where Lira lived for the while that Sora was sleeping.
While in Esperia, Lira lived harmoniously with Maes' family, including his elder brother, Knives Esper and his little sister Ivan Esper. Lira spent most of her time with Maes, though a share deal with the rest of the family. They lived in a large mansion, but held the family structure of a pack of wolves, as their ancestors had been. With such days of peace, Lira was able to put the thoughts of Heartless behind her. Soon, their relationship had grown to the point where Lira was most definitely Maes was to ask her that question... The one with the ring, and romance, the one that was every little girl's dream.
But, then, Heartless began attacking again. Esperia, where it had been able to fend off them before, albeit barely, was taken by surprised and swallowed once more. Lira awoke this time in Twilight Town, wandering around and -by some twisted humor of fate- ran into Pike, just as she had the first time. However, Lira didn't stay to situate herself. She loaned enough munny from Pike to get herself a Gummi Ship and some weapons, before taking off to look for Maes once more.
Body
Name: Lira Sayinn
Appearance: Lira's body is gaunt, from years of undernourishment and worry. She holds dark rings under her brown eyes from lack of sleep. The woman used to have fine, thick wavy dark red hair with flecks of brown here and there, though with age it has flattened to a straight style. Lira's hair is cut a couple inches under her shoulders, and often held back in a ponytail for convenience. Despite the mess her body has been through, Lira is no doubt a lovely woman. She has a fair complexion, full features and slender body. Even Lira's eyes are alluring, a light brown flecked with green and yellow to make a depthful maze.
Lira likes to wear revealing clothes, normally a fur-lined jacket hung open with off-the-shoulder black shirt short enough to show the barest bit of belly. Hip-riding, dark wash jeans are Lira's favorite kind of pants, though she detests skirts, paired with sneakers. When Lira's not wearing her jacket she has dozens of arm bands on, and if no gloves then bracelets as well. Lira's not shy to jewelry, piercing her ears in several places and even her tongue.
Personality: Lira used to be a very soft, gentle lady. Her talent in song and instruments was her over-powering feature back then, for the personality Lira used to have was very washed and toned down, nearly non-existent. Parts of that is still showed when Lira is listening to music, her manners calming and slowing to pace with the beats. Her love for song is enough to distract her from near anything, and Lira often sings to herself when she believes no one is listening.
When Lira's not around music, however, she can be very harsh and severe. The woman is tough, not allowing others to push her around and defiant against what others want from her. Lira is a fighter, even in personality, resilient but kind. People always have a soft spot to the woman, especially those who are facing Heartless. Lira doesn't admit it, but her often barbed words are aimed to help others rather than push them away.
However, if one is to anger Lira, expect a wrath unlike most. Lira's patience applies especially for her grudges, and she may wait years to exact her vengeance against one who had angered her. One can, however, gain back her trust by fighting by her side. Lira's trust in those she fights with is endless, and she will excuse all falsest against them for that purpose. There is one thing Lira will never forgive; Heartless. Lira blames them for destroying her perfect life with Maes and for taking her father away permanently. If Lira happens to see a Heartless, she will mindlessly attack until none are left.
This doesn't mean Lira's seriousness is ever-lasting. No, Lira adores having fun. She will spend several nights simply partying, trying to make the most of life with strangers. This mainly happens to be by singing, dancing and drinking, three things gypsies are wonderful at. In fact, most of the time Lira's not killing Heartless, she's off to get a 'nice buzz,' and have a good time with the locals.
Weapon: Two identical chains fashioned as whips, with tiny spikes along the loops to add an extra punch.
Armor: Leather clothing, normally.
Accessory: Four earrings in her right ear, three in her left. Arm bands, the occasional bracelet, and sometimes a necklace or two.
Heart
Affiliation: Good
World: Hüsborne's world is tilted at a severe degree, making nights and days incredibly short and the climate harsh. There aren't many known settlements upon Hüsborne, and the few that are aren't named. The culture is very primitive, mainly constructed for survival and not pleasure. Religion doesn't seem to have much play into life here, though there have been a few mentions of worshiping nature. The government is styled city-per-city, a mayor running it as if he were a president of the region. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of government, and no currency. The people, even though they're civilized and intelligent, still trade and live like farmers, growing riches from their land.
Race: Human
"Which form will you choose?"
A) Power of the Warrior.
"What do you want outta life?"
C) To be strong.
"What are you so afraid of?"
B) Being different. To Lira, diffrence means change. And change would mean that she would no longer be the same person Maes loves. Lira fears this most of all, for though she knows change is inevitable, she wonders if the difference it brings will be tremendous or quaint.
"What's most important to you?"
B) Friendship. It's simple to Lira; friends are worth fighting for. If one wanders alone, surrounded by darkness almost constantly, then darkness will consume the person. But, with friends to keep the darkness at bay, it's a lot easier to travel in and out of it unharmed. They protect Lira, and in return she fights for them. Protecting them wouldn't be right, since she's not so much a guardian... But she does her best for those she prizes.
Abilities:
Endure Pain: Lira can withstand insane amounts of pain with this ability. Pain doesn't register to her and she begins healing naturally, 25% for eight times. Of course, this doesn't make her invisible, being set on fire or such would kill her, just not as fast. While in this mental state, Lira gets a bit slower to respond and can't tell friend from foe. Here, she begins to kill anything that moves towards her, or just anything that moves in general. While in this highly dangerous state of mind, her endurance is much greater than before, to a notable extent (thus the name). While stronger, slower, and more resilient than before, Lira still has her same skills and still uses her chains, in the same style as before. Endure Pain is normally used as a last resort, for when things get too rough or there are too many enemies. It takes a four-turn cool down period, during which if she's attacked, the damage is double, and only ends when she feels as if the situation can be handled. Also, if too much damage is sustained while in Endure Pain, and it ends, Lira has a tendency to pass out.
Forces of Victory: If Lira kills five or more Heartless without being touched, she's granted to use the ability Forces of Victory. This skill is when Lira's chains move with rapid succession, so fast it's hard to see them. Not only are they faster, but they become conducted with electricity, electrocuting whatever they touch. If this happens, and Lira happens to wrap her chains around an object, it could catch on fire from the amount of electricity being forced into it. Lira, herself, isn't hurt by this attack, despite the fact she is also holding onto the chains. This attack cannot hurt allies, and if Lira drops a chain while using Forces of Victory, it was whip around on the ground until the ability ends after two turns or Lira picks it up again. This ability takes a two post cool down, but over-use of Forces of Victory will cause the chains to break.
Thunda Barrier: This skill allows Lira to summon electricity from the ground in lightning-like arcs over and around her, creating a mesh-like shield. The electricity bounces off of enemies, growing stronger in places where there are more and weaker where there are none. If no enemies are within a three-foot range of the barrier, it disappears. Anything between the barrier and Lira (this would be considered 'inside' it) is unharmed. The barrier, when it ends, disperses in shocks at random directions, outward to the barrier, thus potentially hurting more enemies. The barrier will end after one turn, and takes a two-turn cool-down period.
