Audition post (400 words):
"Ugh yet another day of taking down a bunch of low life scum punks, another dollar." said the blond beauty as she took another drink from her coffee cup while finishing up her final report. It was almost 3 in the morning and what made matters worse was she had to get to work again in almost four hours. It was the price Aya had to pay for deciding to stay a while longer in line at a local convenience store. It wasn't her fault that some idiot decided to rob that particular store while she was there. And it wasn't her fault that the robber also decided to hit on Aya by grabbing her butt. I mean Aya is a smoking hot chick and all but thats no excuse to do something like that. But Aya still felt as though karma had dealt her a bad hand that day especially since today was a special day.
"There finally." the exhausted Aya said as she leaned back dropping her arms to the floor. With the last bit of criminal info now saved and printed Aya could now go home and relax while she still had the time. She got up from her messy desk filled with stacks upon stacks of files and paper grabbed her Levis jacket and headed towards the exit with a donut in her mouth.
As Aya walked the mean streets of the city she drifted off into a flashback when she was much younger and she and her sister would play outside their home until nightfall. She then switched back to the real world and noticed a dog nearby. The dog just sat there staring deep into her blue eyes. She waved at the dog and motioned it to come up to her but the dog simply barked angrily at her. Aya felt confused at the dogs behavior. She hadn't done anything to make the dog go defensive on her....did she? The dog ran off down a nearby alley almost as if he had seen a monster.
A monster, was that what Aya had become? Since the incident with Eve she had begun to feel as though she wasn't the same Aya as before. She certainly looked like the old Aya in fact she looked like the Aya if she was still in her twenties. Not that it bothered her, she was content at looking ten years younger and still a sexy woman. This was the result of the mitochondria that her sister Maya had. It was because of her that Aya was still alive but she was also the reason for Eve.
Had it been that long since that nightmare? Aya hoped that such an event would no longer happen.
She finally arrived at her place high above the top floor of a large building. As she entered she quickly threw her jacket off to the side and kicked off her shoes. She never felt more glad to be home. Aya then headed towards the bathroom and closed the door as soon as she went in.
The shower could then be heard from outside soon followed by a slow pop jam. Aya closed her eyes and let the water just flow down her body. She felt so calm and relaxed now forgetting about how busy her day was. After her hot shower Aya was now in her room combing her soft blond hair when the phone rang. She thought to herself who the hell would be calling her at this time? Whoever it was she made sure they had better have something important to say.
She picked up the phone and answered "Hello?" with an annoyed tone of voice. Suddenly her face turned serious. She quickly stood up instantly from her bed.
"What? How? O-Okay I'll be over there as fast as I can."
Aya quickly threw off her towel that she had covering her body and quickly changed int a pair of ripped jeans and a black wife beater. She headed towards the door grabbing her jacket, gun, and badge. She checked to see how much ammo she had before leaving.
Aya finally arrived to a building that seemed it had been broken into. Dozens of police cars had surrounded the entrance with cops posted behind them with their guns in hand waiting for whoever or whatever would come out. They seemed pretty nervous until she showed up as if a calm had come after a humongous storm. She walked up towards one of the policemen and stared straight at him.
"Alright fill me in. You told me there was some kind of unexplained creature inside that building. Is it an AMNC?"
The policeman seemed hesitant at first since he was trying not to stare at her too much without blushing."N-No I don't think so, it's some kind of dark creature and there are tons of them with bright yellow eyes like aliens or something man."
What kind of being was it this time? If it wasn't an AMNC then what was it? Aya was very interested to see what this thing really was. Was it a new type of AMNC like the NMCs? Did it have a link to her and her sister Maya? "I see I'll go in first. Cover me." Aya then loaded her pistol and hurried towards the entrance. She took a deep breath and then ran inside without hesitation.
"This is the New York Police Department come out with your hands behind your head!" Aya shouted out without any fear in her words. AMNC or not Aya wasn't the kind of woman who was afraid of the unknown. She had been through alot in her life to not fear silly things such as monsters. Just then a black creature scurried nearby her then attack one of the other cops. Aya quickly fired two shots one hitting the creature. It fell to the ground and began limping towards Aya. She pointed her gun straight at the unknown beings head.
"What the hell is that?" The unknown creature then held out its arm holding a heart in its black hand. It then crushed it shattering it into pieces. The cop that had been attacked then began to moan and groan before transforming into one of the black creatures. Ayas eyes widened as she witnessed one of her men transform into one of them.
"Everyone don't let those things touch you!" Whatever these things were offsprings of Eve or not they were like some kind of virus. She had to make sure these things wouldn't spread out into the city or they could be dealing with a world-wide infestation.
Soon dozens of the black creatures began appearing from out of the shadowy corners. Aya pulled out another gun and stood there as they came closer and closer. She kept a sharp eye in case one of them decided to come at her.
"What a way to spend a birthday huh sis?" Aya thought to herself as the shadow creatures leaped into the air with their claws stretching for her.
Multiple gunshots could be heard from outside the building. It looked like the Fourth of July was happening inside the building.
