Audition post (400 words):
He was here again, in this accursed place, memory blacked out again. This place was so familiar, as if he'd seen it a million times and even lived here. Yet, anytime he got to this one specific area, it seemed as it he'd just appeared here. No entrance, no walking around. Just a deep falling feeling, then he was here. He walked around in the vast emptiness of what could have been a plaza. This place in this world was almost like a market city. He closed his eyes momentarily, taking in more of his surroundings.
Suddenly, he could feel something odd. It was like a movie unfolding in his head as it revealed itself to him. He could see people of all sizes around him, though the image was quickly fading. The room itself was such a blindingly light color that it appeared as though the lights along the wall and ceiling were actually darkening the room a few sides. It was done, just then. The memory faded away and moved on.
He was brought back to where he was now briefly as his eyes opened back up. Stepping toward the largest skyscraper in the area, he proceeded to glare up toward the sky. It was eternal night, like always. As he stared upward into the sky, the appearance of something struck his sight. In a small flash of light, he could see a figure, falling from the top of the sky scrapper. There was no flailing, no frightful cries or screams. This fell silently as if they were dead before falling. But it changed. The figure disappeared from his sight.
As that happened, he had the awful feeling in his gut as if he were suspended in the air. Everything shot black for a moment as if he were blind. When he opened his eyes again, he was falling. Everything around him was moving in a surreal slow motion. But it only lasted for a second until he was back where he'd started from, at the foot of the sky scraper. It was a memory, a strange one, but from when?
Once more, he dumped the memory out of his mind and sat down on the steps. Roxas was clad in present time now. Nothing else seemed to have any color or life. Just what had brought him back here, again? Was there something to be gained on this day? He rose up from his step and turned to gaze toward the sky once more, his two long keyblades at his sides.
The stars shone bright with a fire that only they could burn. They were beautiful. How can they co-exist in this stupid of a place? Roxas ran his hands through his hair and sighed in confusion. There were so many questions left unanswered. Why? He though to himself. Why must my life be so... complicated? Roxas let out a frustrated bellow and shut his eyes tightly. It was unusual for his kind, if you know what I mean, to feel these strong of emotions, but then again. He was different. He tried to calm himself down, humming to himself. In the night that seemed to be endless in his life.
