General Character Information
--------------------------------------
Character Name: Esmeralda
Character Age: 22
Character Gender: Female
Character Race: Human
Character Position: Good
Character Personality: Esmeralda is an independent woman. If she sees something wrong, she'll speak up. With a wit as sharp as a sword, and the knowledge of the city and what goes on in it, her weapon is more verbal than anything. Though, her feisty attitude can get her in trouble with the authority figures around town (Police, Counts, Soldiers, and such.) But don't let that fool you; it's not all she uses. With her gift of dancing, that's what you'll commonly find her doing, earning money to put food on the table. It's not easy being a gypsy. As the government doesn't commonly support gypsy activity, staying hidden and making a living is like a puzzle in itself. From this, even if Esmeralda had little to no formal education, she isn't dumb. Using her own mind and logic, she has to make her way through the city and escape the dangers that lie ahead for her
On the other hand, Esmeralda’s usually a kind soul, helping those around her before herself. She’ll fight for these people to the bitter end, knowing their good intentions. She’s disgusted by those who don’t have the guts to do what’s right, but will often forgive you after some time. Though, if you don’t make up for what you’ve done, she’d never forgive you.

Battle Information
--------------------------------------
Weapon Name: Gypsy's Edge
Weapon Appearance: As sharp as Esmeralda's tongue may be, every girl needs a little protection. Esmeralda's is a short, but sharp dagger. It's tied to her thigh under all of her outfits and she keeps it with her at all times. Though, sometimes she'll visibly wear it on her belt, when she's working, especially, she doesn't want to scare away company. So she hides it, but always has it ready to go.
Abilities:
Hypnotic Spell: As Esmeralda will start a dance, it seems to hypnotize those in its view. It’s more than just a dance, but almost a spell cast upon the eyes. Where the elegance, yet flares throughout the dance, seem to capture one’s eyes and mind. This is not used as a direct attack, but a diversion instead.
Trickery’s Deed: With a single handful of almost any collection of items, Esmeralda has the ability to warp around the battle field, dancing from side to side. But this has its disadvantages as, if it’s on a flat, marble floor, or something similar, then it makes it impossible to warp unless she happens to be carrying something with her. Examples of items needed are: Coins, Dirt, Sand, Gravel, Beans, and other items such as that. Though, when you get into less earth-like substances (Coins, Beans…) it gets increasingly more difficult to warp. This excludes any sort of smoke making items, though.
Musical Mischief: Esmeralda is often found with her tambourine tied to her side, but it’s not only for making sound as she dances. When called upon by saying “Miraculous Movements” the tambourine’s cymbals will sharpen and can be used similarly to a boomerang as it slashes opponents. Something more is with this piece of magic, as boomerangs do not always come back, but this one is always skillfully wielded by the beautiful gypsy girl.

Character History
--------------------------------------
Esmeralda is no stranger to Paris; this was the place that the Court of Miracles had resided for years. In fact, she remembered the very day that they had moved here, she must’ve been a little bit older than two. Moving with the group, they finally found a place where none of the soldiers could find them. For, if they were found, they would be persecuted. But, let’s start from the very beginning.
Esmeralda was born into a world of poverty and hunger. Her family consisting of Gypsies meant they never settled down anywhere. They had to earn their money in what some people would think to be a dishonest manner. But it was what was needed, and that’s what every parent had to do. For the first couple years of her life, Esmeralda lived on the country side of France, though she could never tell you about this now. But a while after she turned two, her parents packed up and decided to move again. This time to Paris, where they’d be able to make more money than the small bordering villages. And they might have a chance not to move around nearly as much as they did now.
So, they joined a band commonly known as “The Court of Miracles” as they started forming. They found sanctuary in some of the city’s underground passageways. Here, they formed almost a city of their own, selling goods, offering housing, and giving a safe place to any gypsy that moved to Paris. It seemed almost like a Festival once you were there. But getting there was harder than it looked, since any traitor that managed to make their way down there was usually hung as a public spectacle and was considered entertainment by many.
As Esmeralda grew older, she found that her gift was in dancing and continued to pursue it, managing to make a pretty large sum of money for herself. By the time she was sixteen, she was considered old enough to move out, and she had to work by herself. Meaning she had to find people to play the music and she had to start being more independent, as Gypsy tradition was. She had a pretty nice life going, and it’d continue to work nicely, for about five more years.
Before, this gypsy girl had never seen the likes of the bell ringer. She heard the rumors, that there was a hideous and foul beast that was kept away in the bell towers, Quasimodo. It wasn’t until the Feast of Fools that she had seen them. It was this day that she had a special performance. She was supposed to dance in front of everyone and perform some basic stage magic. As a joke and to go with the theme of “Fools” as she was dancing she approached the horrible Judge Frollo only to pull the hat over his eyes and run off. This obviously did not leave him very happy. After this, they were going to crown the King of Fools. Esmeralda was always part of this and thought it was a fun, harmless celebration. She found one man in the audience, the one who had stumbled in her tent earlier (The klutz.). Though, his disguise was amazing, and she pulled him onstage. Unfortunately, it was not a disguise, and was the legendary Quasimodo.
The crowd seemed to temporarily accept him as the festival went on. But it ended up in ruins as they started throwing things at him and tying him down. It was an act of barbarianism. This is where Esmeralda made herself known. “Then it appears we've crowned the wrong fool.” She spat at the Judge. How horrible could he be? Demanding to step down and mistreat this boy as he did to the gypsies? She would not stand for this. For this he sent ten guards upon a single girl. Using more basic stage magic, she “disappeared”. That’s when she was accused of “Witchcraft”. She ran to the temple for Sanctuary, meaning that she couldn’t be arrested. And she wasn’t, but Frollo came in and started attempting to enchant her before she kicked him out. At that moment, he put guards at all entrances to lock her in. Quasimodo then helped her escape and in return, she gave him the band that would serve as a map of the city. It was a gypsy craft and had the location of the Court of Miracles on it. So if Quasi needed to, he could find her.
The hunt for gypsies began throughout Paris. Though it seemed that Frollo was out for Esmeralda specifically as the hunt was overbearing and many of the gypsies were offered a large amount of money for the whereabouts of where Esmeralda was located. Though, under the Gypsy’s Creed, no one told. More and more Gypsies sought safety in their Court of Miracles.
Then the worst imaginable happened. Quasimodo had fallen under a spell of Love for Esmeralda. So, Frollo used this to his advantage. He told Quasimodo that he knew where the Court of Miracles was and would attack. Then Quasimodo, trying to warn them, unwittingly led Frollo and the all the soldiers to the gypsies hiding spot where both Esmeralda and the Former Captain Phoebus were captured. Esmeralda didn’t know about Phoebus, but it was pretty clear that she would be burned for not only being a Gypsy but for her previous “witchcraft”.
As she was tied to the stake, about to be burned, she was made a despicable offer. This monster of a person, Frollo, gave her an absolutely disgusting choice. The choice was either to be with him or die. Was it even a choice? Death was so much better than having to spend your life having to pretend to like a scoundrel like him. As she was about to be killed by the flames, Quasimodo had freed himself from Frollo’s attempt to keep him in Notre Dame. He swung down from the tower and saved her at the last moment. The battle did not end there, in agreement with Quasimodo, the Gypsies and many peasants started to attack the guards and Frollo started working his way towards the Top of Notre Dame to finally get rid of Quasimodo and Esmeralda.
Though, goodness prevailed and Frollo ended up, what Esmeralda believed to be so, dying by falling in a pit of Melted Lead. Though, she was never quite sure, as soon after his death, very strange creatures started to invade their home of Paris. They were dark creatures that seemed to have no heart at all. She heard muttering of “Heartless” as they were called. She couldn’t care, though. They were just horrible little bugs that seemed to never go away. She had never had to personally fight one herself, but groups were starting to form in Paris, groups against these things. Esmeralda had attended a few of the meetings with her new fiancé Phoebus. Though, these creatures and their attacks on Paris made it increasingly harder for the people to live normally. And with being engaged to a man of great military strength, she knew this would put a strain on them. Little did she know that she probably had such a great part in this as well.

Commonly seen with Esmeralda is her small Billy goat, Djali. He is not a summon, but merely an ordinary goat that’s slightly more tuned into the human senses than most.

The sound of music played in the streets of Paris, and this was a surprisingly happy tune compared to the depressing mood that took the streets. A girl, her raven hair glowing in the sun, was seen with a tambourine playing and jumping about, with a small goat following her movements beside her. The pipe player was behind her, merrily swinging back and forth. All that was in front of them was a hat, a couple golden coins thrown on the bottom, but not enough for a living. This was quite an unusual sight for the modern times. Only a couple months ago would this be common among the laughter of children and the joy of the people around. But ever since the ruthless creatures started attacking, it was rare to see such joy anywhere. They seemed to take it right out of you. But not these gypsies, they seemed to dance around like they were having the time of their lives. They were, until one of them arrived. Suddenly, from the middle of the square this small feeble creature popped up, twisting it’s next side to side. Its yellow eyes didn’t seem to move as it focused in on the band of gypsies.
“Djali, grab the hat!” Esmeralda exclaimed, grabbing her navy blue cloak and dashing, looking for some sort of safety from these creatures. Everyone knew that the only safe time to be out was when the sun was high in the sky, so the dark creatures wouldn’t be so frequent. And as the sun was lowering, they started appearing more. These “Heartless” were more comfortable with the night. It was in their element, little did they know that the town of Paris and the little tricks was in the Gypsy’s element. “Run, Darius!” Esmeralda shouted at the pipe player, who was just a bit younger than her, and quite a bit slower. The dark creature seemed to be gaining on him. She only had one choice. She ran back towards him, her hand feeling for something on her sash tied around her waist. When she found it, she grabbed it in her hand, grasping it tightly. What was “it”? “It” was a special powder that would create much dust and “smoke” perfect for escapes, and for warpings. “Hold on!” she exclaimed and felt the boys grasp around her arm get tighter as she threw the powder onto the floor and they were gone. Suddenly they appeared back in the jolly festival of color that was recently rebuilt under the name “Court of Destiny” but was still referred to commonly as “Court of Miracles”. No one would expect it to be named the exact same thing, so it made it cleverer. It was slightly moved, but very similar to its old hiding place. Similar in the routing, but it was on the opposite side of town from before.
The younger boy ran off, into one of the brightly colored tents as the people started gathering to see one of their fellow gypsies had come to warn them. “The creatures! They’re out again! No one is to leave! They won’t find us here, but we don’t want any incident like last year, understood?” she exclaimed in between gasps for air. The crowd looked shocked slightly, the dark creatures had never come out this early, it seemed like they were gaining power, and no one liked it, everyone was rather frightened by it. It put even the strongest, and most secretive groups in all of France in fear, this could not be a good sign at all. It meant that the defenses were weakening.
As Esmeralda went into the maroon colored tent that she resided in, she sighed heavily, this was quite a burden to bear with. Now that Phoebus was away often, it made it much more difficult as she was seen as the leader. This was not her area of expertise, but she knew she had to give her people hope. Not just her people, even. The people of France needed hope. She didn’t care if she was some lowly gypsy, Esmeralda would give them that, it that’s all they needed. Hope was here.
