Tirelessly playing in a game of no ends...
The year is 3000... or something close to it. Humans have long since given up trying to record what year passes them by as they struggle to survive, a feeble candle of life struggling to hold back the sea of darkness that engulfs them, clinging to whatever shred of hope that remains to them that they will live to see the veil of death pulled back and that they will know salvation some day. Already so much life has been lost, it seems inevitable that their light will be extinguished from the world forever, drained of life or crushed under the boot of slavery…but that is what it means to be human is it not? To have hope when none exists?
The skies are grey, stormy and impenetrable, a result of the endless wars that have been fought on the Earth’s surface, the last ending in nuclear devastation, laying waste to the land and leaving it cold and desolate. Reeling from the destruction they had brought upon themselves, the survivors found that the end of their troubles were far from over, even as they struggled to salvage some vestige of their former lives.
United under the banner of one Aliste Cortes, vampires emerged from beneath the ground, from every dark and forgotten place, nightmares made real. The weakened state of the human nations were taken advantage of completely, the most ill-prepared remnants being slaughtered or captured before realising what had happened. At first, it seemed these mythical creatures merely sought the extermination of the human race but even the blood-thirsters realise that to wipe the lesser beings from the face of the earth now would be to condemn themselves to a slow, ignoble death from starvation.
Frantic, distorted cries for help spread across the continent, word travelling to bring the news to all other humans of the fate that soon awaits them; imprisonment, controlled breeding and eternal servitude as slaves and as nourishment to the vampires in those places now named "Death Farms".
But beaten, tried and tested, the human spirit did not fade. From the ashes of Europa, a force of humans fought for their right to continue living, led by a man called Verian Vespasian. Thousands rallied to him; soldiers but also civilians, survivors who could only look to their protectors for their enduring existence. From there, Elysium was built, a fortress city to serve as humans’ final bastion against the darkness.
Years passed. Humans developed greater technology to fight the vampire; genetically enhanced soldiers, UV rounds, armour… A cure is sought, to reverse the process that turns a good human citizen into a vile, soulless vampire. Vampires developed greater, more efficient ways to harvest the blood of humans to sustain their own survival. Vampires launch assaults on smaller humans settlements to drag them screaming to the death farms. Humans send out troops to hunt down stray vampire covens or recover prisoners; an struggle that seems to have no end.

Let us break free from this prison of solitude...
SciTech is one of the few companies for scientific advancement left. It is no secret that their lead scientist, Dr. Jonas Riley, was killed several years ago as a message from the vampires. His death was a warning: Stop the research. Even as the humans and vampires fight for control, the science corporation fights for a chemical resolution to the warfare. Some see Dr. Riley's cure as a secret weapon against the vampires, while others (the more passive), see it as a way to solve the chaotic state of the world. There is no denying that the vampire population could be devastated by such a finding. Dr. Riley never clarified whether he sought to eliminate vampires or pacify them. His work, even before his death, was controversial in nature and in ethics, becoming a major debate between the vampires and the humans.
Is being a vampire a disease?
According to Dr. Riley, and his daughter, Alexia Riley (who now continues his work), it is. And it can be cured. That is the main goal of the SciTech research laboratories with Alexia in charge. Having both of her parents killed by the hands of vampires, Alexia is determined to carry on her father's work and prove that he was right. With top funding and accommodations, as well as being backed by the shred of government left in control by the humans, Alexia has the world at her fingertips. And she's out to prove one thing: that she can reverse the effects of an infected vampire. She will stop at nothing until she has found the cure, obtaining information by whatever means necessary. SciTech is a secret facility that most humans know about, but nobody knows where it is. After Jonas Riley's brutal death, the facility was moved to a secret location.
In the new facility, equipped with state of the art equipment and high tech security, Alexia hopes to discover the one thing that her father had been killed to stop: The cure. Despite that both of her parents were killed because of reseach being conducted at SciTech, Alexia is not discouraged. Even taking over as the Head Scientist, she realizes that she will be a target once the vampires realize that she is continuing the work that they tried to stop with murder. In the wake of her father's death, Alexia was assigned a bodyguard by her employers. She has no illusions that they are more concerned for her safety than her works.
Either way, as SciTech emerges once again (though secretly, this time), the controversy surrounding its research and facilities is sure to escalate once more. Though its location is not likely to be divulged, its existence is no longer denied.
