Audition post (400 words min):
He attacked his best friend, as a monster. He fought liked a monster. He had one word to call himself, monster. But then again, Zack did say he wasn't one. Maybe the puppy was right. He had been right before on rare occasion. Angeal opened his eyes, and saw himself on the ground in Twilight Town, though truth be told, he knew not where he was. He sat up, and rubbed his forehead. He was sore, then again, after that fight with Zack, why wouldn't he be.
Angeal got up and looked around. A Soldier sword was stuck in the ground not far from him. He picked it up, and sheathed it, as he once sheathed his Buster Sword. At the thought of Buster Sword, he remembered he'd given it to Zack, and told him not to give up on his dreams, and to protect his Soldier honor. Angeal looked at his side, and saw no wings. Was he no longer a monster? He didn't know, and he wouldn't worry about that yet. He'd focus on regaining his lost honor, on finding Zack and setting things right, and to get his Buster Sword back. Angeal walked toward an opening in a wall, then took off running when he heard a scream. He came out into a forest. He scanned the area as he ran, finding no one. He saw a building, a mansion, and ran for it. When he got to the gate, he saw a woman being attack by a giant Heartless. He drew his weapon and charged at it. He slashed once at an the wrist of an oncoming fist, then jumped toward the woman, blocking a blow from the other fist with his sword.
"Are you alright?" Angeal asked. The woman nodded. "Why'd you do that? Your sword could've been easily destroyed by that thing."
"You're more important than this sword. Besides, this isn't the one I cherish." He picked the woman up, and carried her to the forest. He set her down, and told her to go find safety. He'd take care of the monster. She nodded and ran back to town. Angeal went back to the Heartless, who seemed to be patiently waiting.
"Time for me to get my honor back. Let's end this, one monster to another." Angeal jumped 100 feet into the air, and his two white wings reappeared. He then dove at the monster, and swung his weapon every time he got close enough to strike, while flying this way and that way to avoid being hit. After doing this for about two minutes, he flew behind the Heartless, and charged at it. It spun, and blocked with its wrists. Angeal swung, and the Heartless fell. Soon it disappeared. Angeal smiled. Maybe he wasn't so out of practice as he thought he would be. He flew back to town.
Angeal landed, and the woman he saved, as well as a crowd of others ran toward him. The crowd stopped when they saw his wings, but the woman he saved didn't.
"Why didn't you stop? I'm a monster without honor." Angeal said, looking away.
"I'd say saving me proves you have honor. And besides, I don't see a monster when I look at you, I see an angel."
Angeal looked at this woman and smiled. "I have to go. I have someone to find, and things to do before I can truly be an angel. I've done things I regret, and with a little effort, I hope I can become an angel like you and a friend say I am." Angeal took off, and flew toward the sky, heading for the next world, to look for a chance of redemption, and a chance to see an old friend.
As he flew, his thoughts went to Genesis, Sephiroth, and the dumbapple. Genesis had always wanted the three of them to eat them together, maybe they'd get that chance, if Genesis and Sephiroth weren't monsters as well. And who knew, maybe if he could redeem himself, so could they.
