Sound familiar? It should to some of you. It's one those insane contests that you compete in for absolutely no prize except for your own pride and bragging rights. What does it require, you ask?
50,000 words. In 30 days, as I'm sure you could have guessed.
So you're either in awe, thinking "I can't write 50,000 words! I can barely manage 200 word posts!" or you're thinking "Psh... 50k? Easy. I have to trim my posts down to 2k most of the time..."
Oh, but most of your posts aren't glued together in one novel, are they? Probably not.
So, rambling aside, it really is fun. This guide will be put together in parts, separated into four posts, one for each week of the month. Why, you ask? Well, simply this - each week is different. There are specific pieces of advice I have that may help you out when you need poking and prodding.
A bit of closing for this introduction. I've participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo, or NaNo) for three years, 2009 is my fourth. I haven't completed it once XD.... 25k was the furthest I've gone. So, before you doubt my advice giving ability, know this... I know your pain of not being able to finish. It sucks. Hard. But I know quite a few people who -have- finished. One of them even wrote 200,000 words in that same time frame. *glares*... But they've all had fun with it and would be more than willing to help me finish this up.
I'll give credit as necessary where it's due.
Oh, and this happens every November, so you know, but you can do this any month that you'd like. November just happens to be when most people do it. (And you get to use the website! www.nanowrimo.org Woo!)
Happy Noveling!
