Physical appearance
Kuan Ning, an intelligent young man, has the rather sickly looking skin for a man who doesn’t see much sun. It’s not because he’s a Vampire, rather, the Kuan spends most of his time hiding in his house, reading and studying. Standing just a bit below six feet, the man is usually so enthralled in his studies that sometimes, he forgets to eat for days, thus contributing to his thin figure, which lacked muscle and power. However, his face is honest and handsome in his own way with almond shaped eyes and dark brown pupils framed by long lashes. Like most Orientals living in Ancient China, Kuan had allowed his hair to grow longer than usual. However, the man only allows his glossy black hair to reach a bit below his shoulder. Any longer than that and it would be extra trouble he had to deal with. Most of the time, Kuan keeps his hair tied back in a pony tail leaving short bangs hanging in his eyes. When he’s in the audience of the Emperor, he pulls it up in the traditional bun and hides it in his scholar’s hat.
Clothing/Accessories
When in the imperial court, Kuan Ning wears the traditional Chinese counsel wardrobe which he had earned through much hard work and testing. As an official of the imperial court, Kuan dons a long red silk robe with sleeves wide enough to hide his hands and a round collar that specifically symbolizes his status. On his head is a black hat with two curved wings stitched to the back of the hat. The robe and the hat indicated his rank as a lower official in the court.
When not in the palace or the court, Kuan wears the common han fu. The han fu consists of different layers. First comes the white shirt underneath, then the top for men, called a pao. The pao looks similar to that of a kimono, with crossed collar, wide sleeves, and full body length. Kuan wears a red pao made of comfortable cloth. Underneath the pao, Kuan wears white trousers and a pair of comfortable black flats. The han fu also acts as Kuan’s traveling clothes.
Kuan is unfortunately, a bit near-sighted. Thus, the man wears a pair of large round spectacles, which improves his sight…just by a bit. The man is by no means blind. It’s just…it’s a bit hard to see things clearly from a distance. Not to mention he has a tendency to trip over pebbles because of it.
And finally, on his back, Kuan carries a large with him all he would ever need record and document his travels. Acting as both a portable writing desk and storage for brushes, ink, scrolls, and books, Kuan treasures his little traveling library more than anything in the world. Surprisingly, the ebony wood of the cabinet is quite durable, enduring through bangs, water, and other kinds of horrors. Thus, Kuan’s precious babies remain relatively safe…for now. One noticeable flaw with the portable desk is that Kuan can be considerably weighted down by the heavy weight on his back, making him a bit slow and even more klutzy than he usually is.

Behavior
Think your conventional nerd, or geek. Apply it to Yuu Kuan Ning and you’ll get the gist of what the man is. With the tendency to trip over his own feet, preference to stay at home with books, and social awkwardness, Kuan is a perfect example of studiousness at its epitome. He is also rather timid around people, not known to speak out hostilely or rudely. Kuan has high respects for women, to the point where it seems as if he is afraid of them. The man doesn’t have a lot of friends, to be honest, preferring to preoccupy himself with scrolls and tales rather than people. And it is apparent that what Kuan is interested in, most people would find weird and distasteful, maybe even bizarre. Yes, the perfect bully victim. Thus, even though he has a lot of interesting ideas swimming around in his brain, it’s hard for the man to actually strike up a long and meaningful conversation with people. Most definitely not street smart.
Nevertheless, Kuan is a noble young man, honest, polite, and honorable like any man of his time and age should be. Very rarely does Kuan rebel against any kind of authority, preferring to respect his elders and those of a higher status with little questioning. It was how he was brought up after all. A diligent listener, Kuan seems like the person one might seek out to talk to. Get too personal though, and you might find the man shying away due to discomfort. Kuan gets highly agitated when talks stray to subjects of love and love making, or anything that might happen between a man and a woman. Highly agitated. But of course, if it’s expected of the man, even discomfort and upset could not deter him from doing so. It’s true that Kuan has a strong sense of duty and an unbreakable bond between man and tradition. Strong enough to force him into doing things he usually would not be at ease with.
Kuan has a love for the super natural, from ghosts, to elves, to strange mythical creatures that most people don’t believe in. Does he believe in UFOs? Well, they didn’t have tales of extra terrestrials in Ancient China, but if he had heard enough stories about it, there was no doubt that one would find him out at night, trying to catch a glimpse of the silvery space ship. Yes, unfortunately, Kuan is very gullible, especially concerning topics that sparks his interest.
As of now, he chases after the ‘love’ of his life, Xi, hoping to bring her back to Ancient China and admire her some more from the distance [creepy, huh]. Marry her? Well, if they had already been engaged, he might have to marry her in the end—a thought that both scare and excite him at the same time. The man treats his fiancé more like an untouchable goddess [literally] than a mere mortal woman.
Of course…he would have to survive his journey first...

Primary Weapon(s)
The Legend of the White Snake
An ancient scroll Kuan uses to call forth his summon, Madam White Snake. The scroll looks like your standard rolled up parchment found in Ancient China. In it told the story of Madam White Snake, Bai SuZhen and her lover, Xu Xian. It is, however, very delicate, and if anything happens to it, then the man would be unable to summon the White Snake. Thus, Kuan takes very good care of the scroll.
Secondary Weapon(s)
Walking Stick
Because Kuan carries so much writing and research materials on his back, the man needs some kind of helpful item to keep him upright or give an extra boost when he climbs up hills. Kuan’s walking stick is actually made of heavy steel with iron clad ends so they can last a life time. Hit hard enough and you can crack someone’s head in. The klutzy scholar doesn’t really like hitting people with them though.

Name
Bai SuZhen
Alias
Madam White Snake
Appearance
Madam White Snake
Bai SuZhen, a famous figure in Chinese folklore, takes on the appearance of an Asian beauty found only in oriental paintings. The woman possesses pale white skin, smooth and flawless, almond shaped eyes with black pupils, and her ebony hair is usually fashioned in complicated styles with intricate hair decorations. On each ear is a golden earring, and imprinted on her forehead is a red tattoo that resembles a wing. On her upper torso, Suzhen wears a traditional red robe with low yellow collars and a tan sash around her waist.
Out of respect, Kuan calls SuZhen ‘Madam White Snake’. Why? Because below that thin waist and fine red silk robe, is the body of a white water snake. SuZhen has the ability to change from completely human to a naga. As a human, the woman is about five foot two. Snake tail and human torso combined, Suzhen ends up around seven foot long. SuZhen only takes human shape when she serves as a companion, guide, or informer for KuanNing. Otherwise, while in battle, Madam White Snake takes on the form of a naga. The pearly white scales of her lower torso rivals the durance of a shield and is able to repel almost any normal steel weapon with little problem. She is of no use whatsoever if she is in battle while in human form being the delicate young woman she is without her powerful snake body.
When dormant, SuZhen resides as ink on a scroll. The summon could be summoned by Kuan when he calls her name while the scroll is open. Because SuZhen is only a figment of imagination created by the scroll, she is vulnerable to disappearing should the scroll be destroyed.
Abilities
[Transformation]
A simple ability that transforms SuZhen to and back from a naga to a human or vice versa. All her abilities are unavailable to her in her human form, thus SuZhen must try and remain in her Naga form if they are unfortunately caught in battle. If SuZhen suffers too much damage from her opponent, she would be forced to revert back to human form, or reverting back to her dormant form in the scroll.
Strength:
Weak
Uses:
Constant
[Water Manipulation]
If given a certain amount of water, SuZhen has the ability to form and shape the water to her liking, making the normally harmless liquid deadly and powerful. SuZhen is also able to seemingly make the water expand and multiply. In truth, she is actually spreading out the water mass, making it looks as if it had grown in amount. Most of the time, SuZhen uses the water as a battering ram, pounding her enemies with the effect of a full on belly flop. Her range extends only ten feet around her and Kuan and no further. She cannot make water out of thin air and must have a base to start from. However, she can collect water from water sources and add to her attack. The max amount she can handle at a time is about a small sized pond.
Strength:
Weak
Uses:
Water Manipulation is always on outside of battle. Inside the battle, only one attempt at an attack can be made per post with a three post cool down.
[Temperature Change]
Temperature is another one of SuZhen’s special ability. Madam White Snake has the ability to heat up or cool down water, so much so that she could create boiling hot water that leaves burns or ice. Temperature Change compliments her Water Manipulation ability, however, SuZhen must watch how much she changes the temperature of the water. Too high and she’ll evaporate her only weapon, too low and she’ll lose control over the elemental change.
Strength:
Weak
Uses:
One post duration, two post cool down. SuZhen cannot do both heating and cooling at the same time.
[Reptilia]
With half of her body as a snake, SuZhen has the attributes of a snake. Unable to move fast enough, SuZhen’s awareness level has reached super power levels. One wouldn’t say that SuZhen has the power of premonition, but her ability to detect and thus react in time is practically surreal. Her peripheral vision and hearing had become highly sensitive to movements, and the naga would be able to easily block and react to normal attacks. However, this does not mean the woman does not have limits. It would be more of a challenge to detect anything moving at high speeds, and even her scale like armor cannot deflect magic boost attacks. Nevertheless, Reptilia gives Madam White Snake an edge she would not normally possess while in human form.
Strength:
Moderate
Uses:
Constant passive ability.
[The White Serpent]
One of Bai SuZhen’s strongest ability requires a large amount of water, thus, the summon can only perform this ability when next to a large body of water where she can constantly draw the liquid straight from the source. This ability allows SuZhen to completely envelop herself in the safety of the water, creating a larger, stronger version of herself. Essentially, think of a human riding inside a mecha made out of water. The water cocooned SuZhen grows twice the size she originally was thanks to the amount of water enveloped around her. At the same time, the summon can move and manipulate the water with her inside, moving faster and reaching far greater distance than she can with just water manipulation. The distance of her attacks reach extends to a fifteen feet radius around her. Physical attacks such as cutting, punching, shooting, etc. would of course be like slicing through water, thus shielding her from potential attacks from the enemy. However, the water armor cannot shield against explosions. Of course, against magical attacks, The White Serpent is highly resistant to fire spells, and semi resistant to ice spells. Unfortunately, if struck by a lightning attack, it would almost be like an instant KO for the summon.
Strength:
Moderate
Uses:
Can only be used twice in a battle.
Cool down: Three posts
Duration: Two posts

A long time ago, in the ancient land of China, during the time of grand dynasties and heavenly emperors, a young boy was born into a family of intellects. His name was Yuu Kuan Ning, and Kuan Ning was the perfect child. Obedient, diligent, curious but not enough to get him in trouble. He had a sharp mind and loved to read and write. The young boy loved listening to stories of great battles and powerful generals of the past, had a knack for languages, and reveled in the art of words. His mind was fine mesh netting and very little knowledge could slip from him. But most of all, he had a passion for strange supernatural tales. The mystical and the paranormal fascinated young Kuan, and if he was not at home reading them up, he was out searching for these mystical creatures.
His father and mother, blessed with only one child, disciplined and loved their son despite his strange little obsession with the supernatural. He was after all still a child and would soon grow out of such childish fantasies. They were sure that Little Kuan Ning would become great things, and he would serve and honor the Emperor just as his ancestors before had done.
And Kuan did grow up to become something great. The young boy grew up and turned into a fine young man. A bit socially awkward, but he embodied everything his parents had taught him to be in order to be a successful young man—disciplined, honorable, intelligent, and polite. Many matchmakers sought after him, thinking him the perfect husband for a young woman, however, Kuan was never felt fully ready for marriage, and least of all love. Kuan wanted nothing more than to sit at home and read, or out and about recording interesting stories.
Following his parent’s greatest wish, Kuan took an annual exam put out by the Imperial Court for graduating students. The exam was designed to draft clever young officials to work as scribes or accountants for the palace. Kuan passed [barely, to be honest] and was immediately admitted into the palace as a lower ranking chronologist to his parents delight. Kuan Ning was relatively happy, having a job he quite enjoyed, and spare time to do whatever he wanted thanks to the large number of staffs working in the Palace. Also, to his happiness, his parents have stopped asking him to attend match making sessions.
A year past, during which Kuan took part in immortalizing the story of China’s female warrior, and soon, he managed to catch sight of her. Ever since the Female Warrior successfully thwarted the Huns, China had become a bit more accepting of able bodied females. And it was because of this, the Heavenly Palace’s first female body guard came into Kuan’s knowledge. Her name was Xi, and never before had Kuan felt such a strong connection. It was not love, not yet. Rather, upon setting his eyes on the regal figure of Li Xi, Kuan felt power, elegance, and beauty. It was far more tangible than any well written scroll he had ever read. It was as if the young female with her deadly fans had lifted the dull curtain of silk that had been placed before his eyes in the past years. He admired her, looked up to her. Yuu Kuan Ning loved her, so fluid, so strong, and so delicate. But it wasn’t the deep, spiritual sense of love one would expect between a man and a woman. Rather, this love was between a Goddess and her devoted follower.
The scholar tried trailing after her, deeply in shame for being so sneaky and shy, as if he had ill intentions against her. Of course, Kuan would never do anything to Xi that she would not approve of. She was not his equal. She was far above him. And though it was treason, Kuan was convinced that she was high above with the Emperor, who was god himself!
But oh, the irony of life! A few weeks after the noble Kuan first set his eyes on his new Goddess, the man found his parents requesting his presence…in a matchmaking appointment! Distraught, Kuan could not deny his parents as he was taught to respect their decisions and words. They always mean the best for him, right? And thus, Kuan Ning accepted the invitation, primed and dressed himself for the matchmakers.
Upon entering the bamboo doors of the honorable matchmaker, Kuan once again discovered how life joke and tease its poor victims. They were merely puppets, being pulled along by this great force. And this force had tugged the reluctant Kuan to…his love. There, sitting on one end of the wide long table was Kuan’s Goddess, the illustrious and powerful Xi with her exotic pale skin and ethereal white hair. Looking quite irritated, to be honest. Stumbling, Kuan face planted on the table, tipping it over and pouring hot tea all over his back.
It was not the best impression to be made when he was finally in her field of vision. Nonetheless, it was not tradition for the women to have a say on who their husband should be. Kuan was suddenly faced with a difficult decision. He did not love Xi the way a man would love a woman, not a single thought of placing his impure hands on her god-like figure ever crossed his mind. He wished to worship her, not taint her; to admire her, not bed her. Yet at the same time, he wishes for her attention, to possess her, to keep her close with him. It was a violent tug-o-war between desire and fear.
Happily for Kuan, he found that he did not have to make a decision. Xi made one for him. The young woman left quickly and silently, leaving behind her husband-to-be. Distressed, as expected. The divine had left him. His enlightenment, his idol…gone. And with her went his purpose. It was silly how the man had put so much on such a bad tempered woman. But when a man’s in love…especially when he thinks he’s in love with a God, there is only emptiness when abandoned.
What is there left for the man with no goal? He must pursuit it. Thus, Kuan packed up his belongings in a magical desk, left his position and rich robes in the palace, and went after his Goddess. How hard was it to find an albino Asian?
Of course, Kuan, in his usual klutz like self, neglected the threat of the heart stealing demons. Fortunately, the man discovered a special affinity with a specific scroll he had received as a gift from the palace. Gaining the ability to summon Madam White Snake right out of the ancient Chinese tales, Kuan’s chances against the heartless increased by just a tiny bit. Yet with all sorts of dangers and obstacles keeping Kuan from finding his fiancé, and the different worlds to cover, how could Kuan ever hope to find Xi?
