DC Syndrome

Better known as DCS, or "dead computer syndrome".

So I had a computer. It had 5 gigabytes of space left, and more than a few bugs. High time I wipe it, right?

So I get all the CDs out, ready to reinstall Windows, wipe the drive, etc. etc. etc. I back up the important stuff too. And then I wipe the drive.

Put the CD in, "I accept", yadda yadda yadda, and it asks me where I want to install it.

Raise my eyebrow.

It shows two hard drives. The one I've been using, with around 80 gigs, and something I didn't know existed, with 200 gigs. Unused. [/I]

I tell it to install on the mystery drive.

It tells me I can't. It can't support Windows.

I grind my teeth and plow ahead.

And here I am, on mah phone, letting you guys know I'll be out of it for a day or two. Or more.

I've got a temporary solution though, and should be able to post. (Albeit sparingly..)

I won't be back in full force until I whoop this drive's ugly rear! I am NOT backing down!! Muahahahaha! And I have more than a few ideas on why formatting the bl- the darned thing won't let me work, so I don't think I'll need any help just yet.

Also, new graphics for stuff like Quests are also a no-go until I get this thing set up. Sorry!

Dang, that's a bit rough, to put it mildly. Hope you get that wrapped of without incident, Rocket -- last thing we need is to be down one of our best people.

I've still gotta finish the homewarming, get the computer all nice and homey, but I'm back! And here's what I've got to say:

I'm a best people Nascent?! WHOO! Coming from one of the best people, I feel... inducted! Or something. Hurhm.

Turns out the drive ain't so mysterious... it'd come with the system, and I just installed Windows on the wrong hard drive. T_T

Conversely, despite having so much hard drive space, the makers of the machine didn't give it enough oompf. ~runs off to return Mirror's Edge before it's too late!~
