So many conspiracy theories, so little time...

But yes, the similarities are pretty hard to ignore. Still, the fact that KH2 didn't go out of it's way to draw a connection between Twilight Town's Vivi and the Heartless means there probably won't be any true in-story link with their appearances. Then again, maybe it's a black magic link to darkness thing?
