Factions are groups that have come together for a common goal. These goals do not have to be fighting related, but must have SOME worth to them in order to be accepted. You can’t have a Faction dedicated to collecting apples. We won’t allow it.
To create one, follow the template provided in the appropriate board. In addition to the template you need to have at least 2 additional members that post in that thread, which are called Founders. All Founders must have at least 60 posts; this applies to the Faction Leader, as well.
Within your OOC board you must have a thread for people to post in when quitting. In addition there should also be a thread with the first post being a list of all members of the Faction. Both threads are to be stickied.
Faction Leaders have 100% control over their Faction. They are moderators of their OOC and IC boards and they must lead the Faction in the right directions. Because Leaders have 100% control over their Faction the forum staff shouldn’t be contacted over something related to the Faction(besides a board password change), unless it is of fair urgency. The Faction Leader has the right to do whatever he wants within the Faction, including kicking people out. In the case of a bad Faction Leader, a petition signed by 2/3 of the Faction may be made and a new Leader will be chosen.
We will only allow 8 Factions to exist at once.2 Good
2 Evil
2 Neutral
2 that can be good, evil or neutral in addition to the others
This may change if the need arises. This change will only happen if the current 8 are rather active.
A member can participate in more than one Faction at a time but please refrain from being in rivaling Factions. If you want in a second one do your best to make sure it will be unrelated to your own. Should that change in the course of RPing keep it honest. No spying. It is a competition, after all. If you are caught spying or leaking information among Factions not only does that defeat the purpose of having passwords but it ticks people off and ruins everything. In that case staff will get involved. Warnings can be given and even a ban for large offenses.
No single character can be in two different Factions. One Faction per character. A member may have more than one character in the same Faction if they wish.
If a Faction is inactive for 2 weeks without a known reason it will be removed without hesitation. The reasons for this are obvious.
.ranks.and.salaries.
Ranks are the competitive element of Factions. Through attaining Faction Points(FP) a Faction can gain Ranks. You may gain FP by defeating members of other Factions in battle or other competitions(This can be done at any time in any thread) and in special Faction Events, as well as from gaining territory. Each of these things earn the Faction ONE point.
A Faction's Rank will increase by one for every 5 FP earned.
Salaries are once a month payments of Munny to the members of the Faction. The higher the Faction Rank, the higher the salary. Every Faction starts out at Rank 1, but should they not do anything within a month they will be auto disbanded. Factions sitting there doing nothing will not collect any munny, but instead will be disbanded without warning.
Ranks and Munny earned:
- 1 = 100
- 2 = 150
- 3 = 200
- 4 = 250
- 5 = 300
- 6 = 350
- 7 = 400
- 8 = 450
- 9 = 500
- 10 = 600
- Every time a Faction moves up an additional 10 points beyond the list another 50 is added
The number of members in a Faction(Players, not characters) multiplied by the correct amount from the above list is the amount of total salary available to a Faction. At the beginning of a month the Leader must PM a staff member with a list of links to all the profiles of the players in their Faction and instructions as to who gets how much of the total available. Whether every member gets an equal share or not is up to the Faction Leader, but it is recommended that any specific payment practice be made known to all of the members.
.boards.
When you create a Faction you get an IC board and an OOC board. The OOC board is for purely OOC stuff. The IC board(which is actually considered a world) is a place for all the RPing. The IC board is considered optional while the OOC board is not. Both boards will be password protected, unless specifically requested otherwise.
.territory.system.
With Factions worlds are territorial, like a "trophy". Two Factions meet on the world, duke it out, and whoever wins gets to further their fame and claim that world as their "territory". Note that this does not have to mean that the Faction overthrows the natural ruling authority of that world and takes it over, its just considered their "turf" amongst other Factions. If an OPPOSING Faction is RPing on the territory of another Faction's then they could be invaded by the territory's Faction in their thread, even if it is closed, as their right to defend their turf. The world itself is not permanently harmed or controlled/destroyed unless there is a very good reason. In such a case staff will need to be consulted.
Each individual world also has its own special perk that is granted to the Faction that claims it as their territory. These can range from benefits for upgrading the Faction's characters to extra defences for the world that make it easier to protect should it be invaded by someone else. These bonuses can all be found in the Faction Territories list in the Faction board.
The way a world is claimed is via a string of battles. Basically, what it comes down to is whoever wins the battles wins the world. To put it simply: The invaders and/or defenders fight until there isn't anymore opposition, then FP is distributed where applicable. The battles don't always have to be combat, though. If both sides agree they may have a different type of competition to decide who claims the world. In such a case both sides will be responsible for regulating the fairness of their own battle and the staff will not be involved.
Falling in combat doesn't mean death(unless the Factions or individual characters fighting want it to and agree so beforehand). It means that your character is knocked out and sent to a sort of penalty box for the rest of the fight, losing your pay for that battle as well as leaving you subject to punishment by the leader of the Faction.
There are some conditions that apply to everyone inside and outside the invading Faction:
//To qualify as a territory claim the threads used must have [Faction Name Invasion] as the first part of their titles. This also makes them open threads anyone can join.
Examples: [The Organization Invasion] City Streets, or [The Organization Invasion] Skyscraper Rooftop
//Only one Faction's invasion threads may be up at any one time for a single world. If another Faction wishes to participate they must use those threads and can not create their own. If a different Faction's characters win the battles they still claim the territory, even if it was not their Invasion to begin with.
//Factions may attempt to claim up to two worlds at the same time
//Any characters being used in one world's Invasion may not be used in another at the same time, regardless of what Faction started it. No character can be in "two places at once".
//A player may participate in as many Invasions at once as they wish, as long as they have a different character for each. A player can not have more than one character in a single Invasion.
//Once one of a Faction's Invasions has ended they are free to start another right away if they desire.
//8 person limit on how many characters can be in one thread. The number of people from one group in a single thread may also never exceed half of that limit(4) unless victory has already been declared.
//Multiple threads. Use multiple threads to keep things orderly. Only the first invading Faction can create threads for the event, but if a thread is full full and more people wish to join then they must comply and spread out to another, though only if a new area or more of their own Faction members are going to be involved.
//Reinforcements are allowed to come in later as long as free space is available in a thread.
//Territory fights can have non-Faction participants as well, fighting for whatever they want. If Faction members on one side are defeated by non-Faction participants though then no FP is won by the opposing Faction. If an invasion is entirely prevented by non-Faction characters then no one claims the territory even if there were two Factions involved.
//Use of environment is perfectly acceptable.
//The winning side gets 500 munny for the Faction Leader to distribute however they wish.
//If by whatever chance there is a tie then everyone retreats and no one wins the world.
//Once a world has had an Invasion, successful or not, that world may not be invaded again by any Faction for at least one month from the date it ended. After that time limit a claimed world is liable to being invaded by another Faction again.
//Use of outside non-character/summon/minion weapons that can not be retaliated against(such as Gummi Ships firing down from space) is prohibited during an Invasion, in case that wasn't obvious.
//No Closed threads.
//All other battle rules apply.
//If no opposing characters post in an Invasion for 3 days after the last post made then a PM must be sent to the leader(s) of the opposing Factions by the leader of the Faction with the last post asking if they are still participating(If any leader is unavailable the related members of the thread itself may take their place in both instances). If they do not respond after 2 days the last posting Faction may be declared the winner if they desire, unless normal posting resumed anyway. The players of Non-Faction characters must also follow the above rule. In cases of Invasions with multiple threads, this only applies if all the threads experience a halt.
//Keep the posting order created as people enter the thread unless otherwise agreed upon by all. In the situation described in the last rule, turn order may be broken in order for a Faction to maintain their activity.
