A clock rung out the time, the thought of one of the inhabitants of Traverse town was simple. 'Oh, its sundown now... I wonder who will show up now?' Yet, a moment later, the same inhabitants would let out a small chuckle and shake his head, realizing his mistake almost instantly. In this town, there was no setting sun, just darkness of the sky, an almost peaceful darkness. Luckily for him though, sitting at the cafe would not bring him any danger, not a bit of danger at all.
Was he too sure of his own skills? That was not it, but the fact that the heartless rarely travel beyond the second district into the first, for a reason not yet known to him. Although he thought about traveling through the heartless infested roads to return to his housing at the hotel, he decided against it. He didn't wish to battle any foolish brainless and formless creatures, his eyes glowing a bit brighter yellow for just a moment before his thoughts where disrupted.
Here was what he ordered, it took about 8 minutes for the waitress to return with her tray. Giving her a smile that she'd never really see, the man thanked her as he watched a small bowl of bread with soup and a mug of hot chocolate was placed in front of him. Nodding, he watched her walk away before testing the consistency of the soup with his spoon, finding it to be well. Ah, how he enjoyed the places focused on customer service instead of serving the customer.
It was a hearty yet simple soup of cheddar and broccoli within a bowl of sourdough. It made the man smile once more, the collar and the shadows hiding his face. Pulling up one sleeve of his robe with one hand, and the other hand to grasp the spoon in the proper way. He brought the spoon to his mouth and tasted the soup, loving the simple yet sweet taste. Next, he picked up the mug, a bit of steam rising out from the hot liquid inside. Blowing on it, he took a sip and let out a happy sigh, loving the taste of hot chocolate.
His meal was soon soured by the conversations of those passing him. "Its that 'man' again... the one without a face..." "He is just like those beasts in the other districts..." "Why won't he just leave, he has his food." Grumbling, the man went back to his soup, the large hat on his head hiding his face from others. Normal dress for this man was a long, blue robe, a large tan hat, a pair of gloves and a pair of boots. To few who knew others like him, he was a Black Mage, master of arcane spells of the elements.
To even less then those who knew him as a Black Mage, he was Nathan, Nathan Coro.

Sitting two tables behind the Black Mage was someone who was very familiar with the mystical arts. The only problem was he couldn't perform them the way most magicians could. Raphael could only use a specially crafted deck of magical cards in order to perform even the simplest of magical tricks.
What a shame really, the youngest son of the most gifted magical family in the known universe had no magical skill whatsoever. Everyone but him in his home world was able to perform magic, even those who weren't from a prestigious family such as him. But this didn't worry him too much. He would just have to prove his worth even more.
He had overheard the rude comments from the people who were passing by. Curious as to who they were talking down to Raphael turned around to see the Black Mage, since he was from a world that was full of various types of mages, a Black Mage was something he was used to seeing. But it was surprising to see one outside his home world. It was a shame that people from this world were so mean to someone they didn't even know. This person could very well be a nice person to hang around. With that in mind, Raphaelgot up from his seat and walked over to where the Mage was seated.
He tapped him lightly on the shoulder and cleared his throat. "Hello, my name is Raphael Kozmos. Would you mind if I sat here with you? It would be nice to have a conversation with a Black Mage, it's been a while since I've talked to one." He then smiled brightly trying to look as genuine as he could be.

Trying to ignore the comments, Nathan just took another spoonful of soup into his mouth, savoring the taste and almost drifting into a taste heaven. He had always enjoyed well made foods, and this soup, as simple as it was, was also amazing. With a soft sigh, Nathan put the spoon back into the bowl before taking another sip of the hot chocolate. From what he tasted, it was what he had asked for, a triple chocolate with a small bit of whipped cream and some chocolate sprinkles. Nathan had almost completely gone off into some sort of taste heaven when the sound of footsteps snapped him out of it a bit.
He didn't expect the tap on his shoulder though, and Nathan jumped slightly, almost spilling the hot chocolate onto his cloak. Putting the cup down, he turned to see a youth standing next to him, the youth clearing his throat before speaking. Listening to him, he learned the teen's name as well as the fact that this teen had came from someplace with magic, or at least met another Black mage before him.
"Raphael Kozmos eh... well, I suppose it should be no trouble if you where to take a seat and chat for a while." Nathan said softly, pushing the chair across from him out with his foot before taking another sip of his soup. "I am Nathan, a Black Mage from a world far from here, at least I believe it to be." He said softly, using the spoon to remove some of the bread from the side of the bowl, offering Raphael his hand to shake.
Soon after he'd bring his hand back and sitting up, eating the small piece of bread he removed from the bowl. "I hope you don't mind, but I haven't eaten very much all day and I am famished." He said softly, taking more spoonfuls of bread and soup. Inbetween a few of these, he would take sips of the hot chocolate, loving the intense chocolat flavors.

Raphael walked over and sat down in the chair that was presented to him by Nathan. As Raphael sat down he reached his hand out to shake hands with the Black Mage. "Oh it is no trouble at all. I get that way sometimes as well if I haven't had anything to eat in a while." A woman came by and handed Raphael a white cup of tea placed on a small tea plate that was beautifully decorated. "Thank you very much." he said before taking a few sips of the tea. Raphael did it with such elegance and posture, it was as if he came from royalty.
He placed the glass of tea on the table and looked back at Nathan. "So, did you arrive here on your own or was it out of sheer randomness?" He asked this because most people who were in this world were here because their world was gone. Not Raphael though, he just came here to set up a small business to earn a little extra Munny for food and whatnot. His home world was fine as far as he knew it to be. The Heartless were never seen there whenever he was there.

Nathan eyed the youth, making sure to take in every movement, every motion of his hands or eyes, and even the way he sat. He couldn't get much from the teen from watching him, and the way that he spoke didn't seem to low classed, which was a plus in the mage's mind, not wanting to have to hire a translator or anything of the sort. Without missing a beat, the waitress appeared and handed the teen a cup of tea, earning Raphael a bit more respect from Nathan, not usually seeing young people enjoying tea too much.
The next question made Nathan blink at Raphael before looking at his plate, gently tearing the bread bowl and getting a sliver of the bread. He kept quiet, thinking about the question as he slid the piece of bread into his mouth and chewed it quietly. About a full minute later, Nathan looked directly at Raphael, his eyes flashing a brighter yellow for just a moment as he spoke, his voice quick and angry. "To ask such a question of a stranger is rude." Nathan took a sip of his hot chocolate, calming him down just a bit.
Letting out a sigh, Nathan spoke again, this time his voice calm and apologetic. "I am sorry, but I do not know you good enough to tell you about things in my life... I do not have such a luxury to trust all I come across." Nathan simply took another sliver of bread after he spoke and ate it quickly. He knew that Raphael wouldn't tell him his own story after the way he acted, so he decided to try another subject. "Do you know of a good way to earn Munny without defeating those heartless?" Nathan asked, looking at Raphael over the rim of his hot chocolate as he sipped it again.
He wasn't low on munny, having enough to keep the hotel room and pay for his food, but he needed more to pay off what he owed for the gummi ship he had bought. There was still a large amount to be paid off due to the things he had asked for with its creation.

Raphaels eyes widened after hearing Nathans snappy response. He didn't think that what he had said was rude. But maybe this was not a subject that Nathan wanted to talk about. Raphael needed to apologize for nosing around other peoples past. Even if he was just trying to spark some small talk.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know..." He quietly said as he lowered his head. Thankfully Nathan quickly calmed down after taking a drink. Raphael decided to not go around that subject any more. From what Nathan said, it would take time and trust for Raphael to try asking him questions like that.
Switching to a different topic, (one that Raphael could go on forever about) the two began discussing ways to earn some extra munny while they were here. Raphael had tons of ideas since alot of his cards could do incredible stuff, and with a Black Mage they could do so much more.
"Well, I have thought of many ways to earn some munny here. One idea I had was doing some magic performances to entertain the people here. But then I remember reading a sign inside one of the shops here that some missing puppies had gone missing. Dalmatians if I'm correct, anyways the owner offered a grand reward for the retrieval of all the puppies. If you and I were to look for them together we have a bigger chance of finding them all."
