A brief silence fell across the temple of Ares as the last of the fire fizzled out in puffs of smoke. The silence was eerie... wherever Miae was and whatever she was doing, she was being exceptionally quiet about it. From where he stood Rukio couldn't see her anywhere; then again, he was hiding behind a pillar.
Will you make the next move, or wait for Miae?

Rukio had to guess that she didn't know he was behind the pillar, but would find him fast, he waited for her sword in one and and perparing a fireball in the other.

(OOC: Sorry about the delay; it's proving to be a busier summer for me than I'd expected.)
Rukio's caution was well-merited, as moments later Miae came into sight not more than ten feet away. She was clearly searching for him, bow drawn and ready... but she was looking in the wrong direction. With a little maneuvering, Rukio could get the drop on her and gain the advantage.

rukio moved quickly and quietly behind her and then jumped right on her to make her fall face down and put his sword at the back of her neck

(OOC: Catch me once, shame on you; catch me twice...) Miae, surprisingly, didn't make a sound or seem to move as she lay there, pinned beneath Rukio. The reason for this was that she was tensing every muscle in her body in preparation for a single move. With remarkable speed, the Amazon slid her upper body hard to the left while simultaneously bringing her right elbow up hard into the side of Rukio's face. Of course, with his blade to the back of her neck it was unavoidable that she'd receive a cut in the process, but it was shallow and didn't do any serious damage. Seizing the advantage, the warrior princess managed hit Rukio with her elbow a second time... only this time, she was aiming for his sword. As the weapon clattered to the ground a few feet away Miae threw her full strength into shaking herself loose of Rukio, managing to get up to her knees in spite of his counter-efforts. "Idiot! I told you once already: Amazon's don't surrender!" She barked hatefully. With one final effort she kicked free of him, spun around and got to her feet. Her bow had ended up several feet away from the force of Rukio tackling her; in it's place Miae now pulled out her short sword. Rukio would have only seconds before she resumed her attack. rukio felt the hit and thought for a few seconds he saw stars. he heard his sword fly away and cursed the gods for this bad luck, and the fact that she was free. he had to think fast. he shot two fire balls one at her and one at her bow, hoping one of them would distract her long enough to get his sword.

Miae narrowly dodged the fireball, but her bow wasn't quite so lucky. The spell's impact sent burning pieces of it flying every which way. As the Amazon Princess saw what had become of her weapon she turned a furious gaze on Rukio.
"You will PAY for THAT!"
Without delaying another second she rushed straight at Rukio, ready to strike him down with all her hate.

rukio knew he wasn't going to reach his sword so he had to think of something else, he thought back through his adventure through the jungle and remembered his battle with the panther and had an idea.
he waited till she got close to her and then used his energy wave ability

Already far too close to safely evade, Miae was thrown back by the electrical barrier -- what's more, the metal of her sword acted like a lightning rod, sending a hard electrical shock straight into the woman's body. She staggered back several feet before dropping to one knee, shaking with violent random spasms the whole time. The sword fell from her hand, steam and smoke pouring from the blade; her hand, too, was badly burned. It was as if she'd been struck by lightning... which wasn't all that far from the truth. "Curse... you..." She managed to say through ragged breaths. "... and your... foul... sorcery...!" After several long moments, though, she struggled to her feet once again. "Even if it's just with my bare hands, I WILL kill you for insulting my honor!!" With those words she ran straight at Rukio, blind rage evident on her face. H E A L T H _ B A R S [ M I A E ]

rukio knew the same trick wouldn't work twice in a row(OOC: and it has a 1 post cool down) so he had to think of something. so he looked at his sword and started to run for it while firing two fireball at her to slow her down.

Weary and wounded as she was, the Amazon warrior was in no condition to nimbly dodge deadly balls of flame. Instead she raised her shield in defense; the first fiery blast slammed into it, making the metal glow red-hot, and the second packed enough of a wallop to finish the job. Scrambling to toss it away, Miae watched her last line of defense melt away into a puddle of liquid fire. She grit her teeth, more angry than she'd ever been in her life. Rukio had her on the ropes now, and just thinking that a mere male had pushed her this far and resisted all efforts to destroy him... Her royal blood boiled within her. This disgrace must NEVER be known! He'd had time now to get to his weapon -- that would be his downfall! She'd engage him in close combat and show this male the superiority of Amazon combat training! With those thoughts hot as lightning in her mind Miae turned from her ruined shield and charged Rukio head-on, gripping her short sword fiercely. H E A L T H _ B A R S [ M I A E ]

Rukio quickly grabbed his sword and turned to face the mad Amazon. He felt a power that he knew would help him.
He waited for her to get close to him and turned on his flame of hades

[any weapon rukio is holding is engulfed in flames and does extra damage]
Strength: weak
Uses: 3 post used and 2 post cool down
and charged her ready to strike with his little surprise.

The surprise was sufficient to throw her off balance as the two swords met, the realization that there was fire that close to her enough to make the Amazon hesitate in her assault. Rukio could now press the advantage and force her to fight defensively, possibly giving him the edge he needed to end this fight.

Rukio saw that she was off balance and had an idea. First he step back to unlock their blades, then thrust the blade straight at her.

Miae barely managed to parry Rukio's forceful strike, stumbling back several feet with a fresh wound in her shoulder before reclaiming her footing. The initial advantage lost, Rukio would now find the warrior woman coming right back at him, screaming at the top of her lungs and slashing wildly with her weapon. Blinded by her own fury, Miae's attacks now were very dangerous... but her guard was down. It was risky, but a smart move now might just win the fight.
