It was a terribly bright, terribly cheery sort of day. The sort of day that would drive you mad with happiness, for it was the kind of day that could raise the dead from their graves and convince them to dance in the open fields and sing.
Well, in a metaphorical sense. Nicholas would've been rather spooked if ghosts truly had begun getting out of their graves; in his world, it was customary that dead people stayed just that. Dead.
Not like Nicholas was the sort to get spooked easily. He was a knight, after all, and though he wasn't the greatest of them all, he still held some skill to which he owed the title.
Presently he was looking out over the rice fields, watching pretty young things work at it while soldiers marched through the lands. They didn't seem to have noticed him, but that was alright.
They were just on a training mission, after all, and perhaps seeing a foreign man dressed in war clothing would be a bit upsetting to the soldiers. To the local populace? Ah, the girls just waved and winked at him (Nicholas wasn't such a bad sight to behold), the boys beheld him with glimmering eyes (the Chinese just didn't have shiny, orange armour), and the adults all ignored him. Or they gave him a brief glance and passed him off as a foreigner with not a thought of malign on his mind.
This was true. Nicholas was far from malignant. If anything, he was Mostly Perfectly Harmless. He was also half-asleep; his eyes were about ready to drop, since the sun was just being far too comfortable for him!
And so Nicholas yawned, and continued to look at the fields. He wasn't quite sure why he wasn't looking for a way to combat the Shadow Beasts that had assaulted his world. He was supposed to be the most ambitious of the Six, too. Yet here he was, idling.
Perhaps it was just the wishes of the Yggdrasil. After all, such a massively powerful tree wouldn't be stopped by a few worlds inbetween them, right? He'd still be under the Tree of Destiny's guidance.
... Right?

"Excuse me, sir."
The voice had come from behind the orange-armored youth, and belonged to a woman with blond hair who was walking towards him. Melana had only just arrived in this world, and already she felt hopeful. The buildings, the agriculture, the people... somehow it all reminded her of her home back on Kurai. And there was something more... something she couldn't quite put her finger on. Regardless, though, she would need to get settled here before she could begin inquiring about the Heartless.
The young man struck her as someone who, like herself, was only a sojourner in these lands. The fact that other travelers had come here was a good sign - where travel prospered, so too did information. Either way, she felt more comfortable asking such a one than she did inquiring with the locals who, while not unwelcoming, seemed nonetheless wary of her. Melana couldn't help but wonder why those she'd passed on the road seemed unnerved, even startled to see a woman wearing armor...
"I'm sorry to interrupt you." The young wind knight began, bowing politely (as she'd observed was a local custom). "But I am new to this area and looking for a place to stay. Can you direct me to an inn, or someplace else where I might reside temporarily?" She brushed a loose strand of hair out of her face as she rose from bowing. "You seem to be a fellow traveler, so I hoped you might know."

It didn't take long for the world to notice Nicholas's presence, it appeared, when a young lady (though older than Nicholas) approached him.
To him, she was a large woman, certainly not like the cuter girls at his own home but, in her own way, an impressive woman still. She looked older than him, and the boy took a moment to survey her silently instead of immediately answering.
Then, finally, after a moment of silence, he broke into a smile and responded, "Well, I'm lost, I'm afraid!" He announced it in such a merry and loud way that some of the people around them stopped doing what they did to look at the duo.
"Haven't a clue where I am or where I should go─you'll be hard-pressed---having me tell you directions to a good place to stay!" He'd risen to his feet as he spoke, his height being pitiful compared to the girl he was talking to. He was, after all, short by all regular standards.
His announcement wasn't followed up by anything at all, save for the smile turning into a confident grin (he was very much alike a certain ninja in this aspect) and a glimmer in his eyes that could only mean he smiled as much with his mouth as he did with his eyes.

The young wind knight blinked several times, surprised. Lost? He hadn't looked lost... in fact, he'd looked completely at ease with his surroundings, as though he had everything well in hand and could relax. Melana wasn't used to encountering such a relaxed, unconcerned outlook on life.
"I... see..." She said, although in truth she didn't get it at all. Maybe this boy was used to sleeping on the ground? No... that still didn't entirely account for it. She could feel herself very quickly becoming confused and, deciding an answer might present itself later, determined not to think on it more than she had to.
"Well then, there's only one thing to do." She said, extending her hand to him. "We'll just find what we're looking for together. My name's Melana. And you are?"

"Together?" he repeated after her, and looked not-understandingly. Finally though, it clicked to him. This was a sure sign! If he followed this woman, perhaps... Perhaps she knew of the Shadow Beasts, and knew of ways to combat them. Disney Castle had been his intent, but if others in other lands knew, who then was he to neglect seizing an opportunity for information?
But first he'd have to make her acquaintance.
"Well! That sounds like jolly good fun, finding a place to sleep. Name's Nich─ah, nah, let's make it Nils. Name's Nils." His formal name would be too impressive, he figured, to have people confused and ignorant of the weight his name would bear where he was. After all, he was only cheerful, not entirely stupid.
He took her hand, of course, and shook it vigourously; not so hard yet that it'd be awkward, painful or any other such thing.
"Something just occured to me," he added to their introduction, "we could've both asked the people around us for directions." And he indicated the rest of the people there, who by now were jolly well staring at the eccentric duo.
It's not every day that they saw two clad in foreign armour. Not every day someone spoke as loudly and vividly as Nicholas did. Nor were there any with Nicholas' hair colour, of course, and other such quirks native to the boy and the woman.

Melana hesitated, realizing the precariousness of her situation in that moment, then quickly bowed at the waist towards the crowd of onlookers. "P-please forgive us for disrupting you. My friend and I are looking for a place to stay the night. We're unfamiliar with your lands and simply traveling through..."
Her voice trailed off, realizing that those around her were probably wondering the same thing that Nils had just asked. That left her in a bit of a quandary. After all, you can't just go and tell people you're asking for help from that you thought they didn't want anything to do with you. Certainly not a good first impression.
As luck would have it, though, an interruption came along right at that very moment. Somewhere near the edge of the fields, someone was shouting at the top of their lungs.
"Help! Help!"
Melana turned and looked, seeing a boy no older than Nils racing towards the patrolling soldiers. He was clad in the robes of a temple monk and carrying a quarterstaff in one hand, but more importantly it was clear even at a distance that he was frantic and scared.
Something had happened, that much was clear.
(OOC: Eh, short and incomplete, but I couldn't really think of anything else to get things rolling. I'll leave it up to you how you want this to play out, like whether it's fire, bandits, or Heartless, or what-have-you causing this kid to ask for help.)

[ OOC; Sry man i'm like ffffffffff ]
Nicholas' grin never left his face, even though someone came running flailing their arms around like the heavens themselves had sent down its army to come punish all those who sinned against it.
As no one can claim to abide by all holy scriptures, you can imagine they would come to punish all.
Luckily this was not the case, as Nicholas soon enough found out.
"Looks like someone needs help," he observed, and halted any further speech until the man had approached them within comfortable talking distance. That is, everyone rushed around him before Nicholas could approach him, and the knight could hear only pieces of what was yelled.
This is what Nicholas made of it:
Crushed. Man. Cart. Broke. Help. Dire. Wife. Eggrolls.
He wasn't sure if he'd understand the last word, but evidently someone had been crushed under a cart and required their immediate assistance.
He gave a glance at his now new companion.
"Well, lady Melana, as much as I'd love to make your further acquaintance, it looks like it's high-time I prove myself worthy of this armour!"
